I just hope that BG can get Sourray under contract for a reasonable price or a suitable replacement. Knowing BG's history his thing is when the team is on the cusp like Dallas was that's when he will strike major at the deadline, unless he can get a great deal, which was not going to happen this year. The Sourray conudrum was what bothers me. I'm just hoping that something can come out of it. As long as he doesn't go down as early as Abby. With his height I imagine he is a stand-up goalie, definitely better than Abby.

I'm disapointed, only because I thought either BG should go out and get someone that can help and if not then deal Sourray and get some good return. To do nothing at all I question alot. Either go one way or the other but to just sit tight. A goalie rental would've at least been nice, Aebischer is awful. We had the cap room, we have the assets and nothing. Couldn't even beat out the Isles offer for Smyth, when it was leaked 2 days ago the Habs had offered, a first, Perezhogin and Milroy. Tough deadline day. I already know what bob's PC is going to be exactly the same as last year.

According to Meehan, they negotiated until 2:40 at which time the Oilers said they couldn't agree and started to make arrangement for a deal. No contract was signed. He also said he had not spoken to the Islanders and that Smyth could still become UFA and he even did not rule out a return to Edmonton next year as he said everyone was very professional. NO DEAL WAS SIGNED.

It's not true. Meehan was on tsn 10 minutes ago and he said he has not spoken to the Islanders at all.

Some of the players went for very reasonable prices today, it is very disapointing BG didn't make a bigger splash, although I'm still holding out hope that it just hasn't filtered yet.

I can't argue with that at all. -

Really I think it's the only way this makes sense. Abby sucks, but nobody is comfortable with Leighton and Halak, nor with either of the young guys and Abby. All 3 allows Carbo to try and find someone who gets hot and ride them. I think we see a 3 way goalie rotation for now, until someone can get hot. I may be wrong but I wouldn't be comfortable if I was Carbo or Gainey any other way with any 2 of those 3. -

The rosters expand after the deadline, i wouldn't be surprised to see all 3 -

Buffalo would not trade him to Montreal, they might play us in the first round, they aren't stupid. -

I'm curious about this move simply because, Leighton is a decent young back up. But Halak has been a million times better than Aebischer so who is the odd man out?? Personally I would much rather Halak and Leighton than Aebischer and Leighton but I can't see BG agreeing with that. Maybe he plans on carrying all three once the roster limit expands. -

Who in their right mind would take Abby? -

Kenadian how you can defend abby is beyond me. Further, that breakaway you were talking about was a missed net, not a save by Abby. The guy was terrible tonight letting in 3 extremely soft goals. People here don't complain about every goalie. In fact, most defended Halak, as most of the goals he gave up were odd deflections or defensive breakdowns. Maybe ONE was of the weak variety as were almost all of the ones tonight. I cannot imagine any situation in which abby starts tommorow and if I'm BG I might now start considering another goalie but only if you can move Abby with a pick to get him and nothing else. ANything more and let Halak be the man. -

Hoestly in this one, I can say the team played pretty good, Aebischer was AWFUL. 3 / 4 goales he gave up were clear soft, should've been had without a doubt. Ones where you just saw AAAAH come on stupid goalie. -

You end up playing like that when your goalie is shaky as hell. Can Aebischer make a save without giving up a rebound. He turns the simplest play into a scoring chance for the other team. It's absolutely brutal to watch. 3 -

Wow am I surprised that they ran the goalie? Not really. Am I surprised they got a penalty for it? A little bit. -

Those goals were all Aebischer being a friggin crappy goalie and nothing to do with the team, a soft wrist shot, a shoot in from center ice rebound, he was lucky on 2 other plays right before that too, where he was flopping around like a fish out of water. -

I'm so torn on whether the team should trade Sourray. One game he plays bad then I get mad and say trade him then he plays awesome and I think wow he's great we should keep him. On an interesting note, Sourray is the MOST clutch player in the league which is a stats somehow figured out, you can see it at forecaster.ca i'm too lazy ot find it again a friend sent it to me yesterday. -
