  1. It's got to be a contract # issue, as mentioned by a few people above.

Also, at this stage of free agency, there is probably at least half of the league that either doesn't want him because of his minimum salary requirements, his playing style, and cap room concerns (especially since the cap will likely drop significantly in 2010-11). Of the remaining teams that do want him, they have to worry about fit in the lineup and his injury. Then, on top of that, he probably has teams making decent offers, but are teams he just doesn't want to play for.

The bottom line is that the market for him now may be the smallest it has been since July 1. Conceivably, the market could be as small as 2-4 teams. I don't know that, but it's very possible.

  2. Confirmed. Somehow my first round pick is not worth enough by itself to land first-line talent, but too valuable to give up with Kane to get a 23 year-old game-changer.

I know some GMs don't like it, but this guy is a first-line player without a doubt, and gives me another concrete piece, along with Kanatov, to build around.

Finally get this behind me after over two months of dealing with it. Welcome TJ Oshie.

  3. This is not a problem at all. The CBA was owner friendly from the start, so if they're finding loopholes, they are going to have to live with the consequences if the player they have to pay HUGE money to doesn't perform in those big salary years. The cap is figured on hockey related revenue, not profits, so if it bites the owners in the hindquarters, they have nobody to blame but themselves for signing such ridiculously long contracts with such huge figures in the prime years.

  4. Jacques Lemaire and Rollie Melançon?!!

Knowing Lacroix, I wouldn't be surprised.

Don't know much about Melançon, but I would not mind seeing Lemaire set some things straight around here. A "system guy" would be a positive step, in my opinion.

  5. Due to being on vacation, and the Oshie controversy, the Colorado Avalanche are suspending all team operations for one week, or until the Oshie controversy is resolved to the team's satisfaction. Team operations will resume on June 1, at the latest.

  6. Confirmed.

Oshie just does everything... except hit. Ha. If you look at the standings, it's clear my team needs to score as many goals as we give up, and I think this brings my top lines together nicely. He's the centre I've been looking for, plays an adequate defensive game, and he should be perfect alongside Sedin, Kanatov, Kessel, Chistov, and Joensuu.

It's a high price, but I feel he's one of the premiere talents in the game, so I'm willing to make the move, expecially without touching my current roster.

  7. but admitting that Phoenix is a failure = Bettman admitting that HE is a failure...

That isn't true. Failing on one task doesn't make an entire project a failure. He still has Colorado (relocation), Columbus (expansion), Atlanta (expansion), Carolina (relocation), Nashville (expansion), and Anaheim (expansion) to hang his hat on as "non-traditional" markets. I can't remember if the new Senators, Sharks, Panthers, and Stars were on his watch. If so, add those to the list. And let us not forget he brought an expansion team to a place it never should have left: Minnesota, and they have sold out every game I believe.

  8. Geographically, I believe Atlanta is the furthest west.

They are, and would fit best in the Central.

Maybe put S. Ontario in the East, probably in the Northeast.

    Boston in the Atlantic

New Jersey in the Southeast (A little strange, but not horribly far away from Raleigh.)

    Atlanta to the Central

St. Louis to the Northwest (Again, a little strange, but the best choice of the Central teams)

Colorado to the Pacific (It's the logical decision because it's geographically the closest team to Phoenix that isn't already in the pacific.)

  9. From what I understand, this is a seperate program that needs to be run after every sim to essentially re-finish the games which were tied. I'm still cautiously optimistic about the idea, however I see that this is another element added on to the already lengthy sim process, it's not just something that automatically results. (If this is an incorrect explanation, please clarify.)

As such, I think the simmers should probably put in their two cents and should be allowed a weighted vote since they're the ones who have to take the extra time. This league doesn't run without simmers and frustrating them is probably not a great idea.

I second this, for what it's worth. The simmers have earned the privilege of having an extra say in something like this.

If the simmers want to do it, I'm all for it. Maybe we could dish out points differently than the NHL and just do 2 for a win, and 0 for a loss, no matter when it happens.

  10. Colorado sends:

    COL 1st 2012

    Akira Likiyu, C, 19 y.o., 48-45-51, 82 con., unsigned pick

    to St. Louis for:

    Jesse Joensuu, LW, 24, 79-85-79, 80 Con., 4 yr., $2,000,000

    STL 2nd 2013

Colorado confirms. He's not a superstar centre, but he really does everything on the left side. I finally add a defensive, physical winger to play in all sorts of different situations and on the PK. With the 2nd next year, I think this one is a big success.

SIMMER: PLEASE PROCESS AFTER SUNDAY SIM!!!

  11. Colorado sends:

    PHO 2nd 2012

    to Edmonton for:

    Ladislav Zakora, LW/RW, 23 y.o., 75-75-74, 79 Con., 1 yr., $300,000, TW.

Colorado confirms. In a strong 2011 draft, Anton Gustafsson went 39 overall. He will be about 75-75 when developed. Conveniently, the Phoenix pick would go around 39 OA. Zakora is the right age and the right skill set to hold down a consistent 4th line spot for a while. There's nothing overly wrong with him, and it's a decent price.

  12. Hey all:

Over the next month or so, I am going to be graduating, job hunting, and studying to take the bar exam, so I will not be very active. I will do my best to maintain my team, but I may not be around a whole lot. Thanks.

  13. We're dieing for D as well as offense so no matter who falls to 3rd, it's gonna be good for us. One could make the argument we need D more but seeing as we were the only team last season to not score at least 200 goals....

I agree with the end of that. I'm no scout, but I have cautious faith that Williams and Shattenkirk will be NHL defensemen, and if you add in Liles, Cumiskey, and the necessary assortment of veterans, I think we are much more in need of elite-level forwards than defensemen.

Victor Hedman would still be a good pick, but of Tavares, Duchene, and Hedman, I think the Avalanche would benefit more from Duchene or Tavares. Of course, that may not be our decision to make.

  14. Is there a successful GM out there (probably from the East) who would be willing to get on YIM and help me out with line formation and execution?

I have looked at the EHM tutorials a bunch of times as well as other lines around the league on winning teams, and I just can't seem to get anything to click.

A little tutoring would be much appreciated. PM me if you are willing to help. Thanks.

Way to read english, Stream. Proud of you. Lines with a rigged team are probably a little easier.

Now, maybe turn down the sarcasm until you have something relevant to say. ^_^
