  1. Heheh.. wtvr you don't have to reply. I was bored so I just did that.

First of all, I said bad to average teams. None of those teams are above average. In my opinion, Edmonton got ripped on the Pronger trade. Washington didn't get anybetter than last year but the rest of the NHL did.

Nashville, will be a little better.

Also I said they protected players with over 2M salary so I couldn't take any of those guys like Demitra or Roenick. But LA wont be a cup contender. OK. Fine they're the lone above-average team.

    Ah well...

  2. I'm not sure what kind iof offensive game Dandenault would play. Since he's a d-man he probably plays a defensive game. But I really like Sundstrom's checking games and he goes well with Bonk and Bulis. To me, he'd go on the fourth line and take the place of another rookie.

They might try this in the exhibition games. Try Hainsey, Bouillon, Higgins, Hossa, Plekanec and Perezhogin just to see if they belong on the team. It's very douvtful that Dandenault will play full time forward for a large part of the season.

But it's funny because a few years back, I went to an exhibition game against Boston. This was just after the Breezer season. I watched these two horrible goalies, Mathieu Garon and Eric Fichaud, let in some bad goals (the latter more). I also saw a defenseman that had been called up. Ron Hainsey. Me and my dad saw him cough up the puck a few times and immediately compared him to Brisebois. The rest of the fans also booed him quite a bit. We ended up winning though.

Just because you said Hainsey was to replace Brisebois.

I really think it's good to have almost as much versatility as Johnny Depp (Hell Yeah!!:-^) and I expect to kick some Maple Leaf ass this season.

I like this team for a budget garbage collection of teams that wont make the play-offs.

  4. Try and make the best team possible by using players from some of the worst (to average) teams in the NHL.

    Washington

    Minnesota

    Nashville

    Oilers

    Islanders

    Kings

The problem is that the GMs have protected every player with a salary of $2M or more. You're teams salary cap is $25M. Each team must contribute atleast two players and two players total is the minimum players allowed under $750,000.

I'll post my team right after this.

  6. Ya, your posts are hard to read. Well, I'm on MSN a lot during the year so I'm an expert at interpreting these messages. But on these kind of boards it might be better not to use shotcuts. Especially on the words "you," "are" and "why."

Ya and I agree with Carbo21 about Bulis and Koivu. Bulis has been my fave habs since the 03-04 season. I'm not a bandwagon jumper who likes him after a good offensive year in Europe. I noticed last season that he's always working hard. Always after the puck. When everyone's standing still, picking their noses, he's after the puck, while Ribeiro's counting sheep at the other blueline, Bulis is making a bodycheck. He doesn't stop. He's like Kirk Muller but better. I love this guy and Koivu works almost as hard. Offence and defence, shift after shift. Talent at it's peak. We chose him over Turgeon in his prime and it was a good decision.

And no, Souray should not make the national team. Pronger, Redden, Blake, Niedermayer, Hannan, Regehr, Stevens, Rathje, Aucoin, Foote, Brewer, etc. Any of these guys would beat Souray to the team. Even if Canada set up a Team B Souray would be lucky to make it.

  7. I have to question anyone who calls Koivu selfish...:?-

He's the least selfish player I've ever seen. Or atleast one of the nicest and most generous. He's won a few awards with that and he's always but in that McDonald's charity thing and visiting kids in hospitals.

  8. I wouldn't consider Souray to be overrated. He was always an average player at best and then last year he exploded with a great season. Now I'd consider him a proven average player.

No one considers him a superstar so how would you find him overrated? His only recent playings have been his great season and then the average play-offs. When you say he often comes up short do you mean in last year's play-offs?

I don't think anyone rates him extremely high and we'll be surprised if he can play as well as last year.

    But right on with Bulis!!!

  9. The new "skilled" players bring in flexibility at the same moment. More youth. Perogy plays either wing. Bonk can play center or wing. Dandeneault can play defenseman or forward. Vandermeer, Aitken and Ivanans for back-up size.

    Gainey has set us up.

  10. Why are high numbers crazyIn football, the numbers are categorized by position so it's easier on the refs; certain positions can do different things, obviously so this way the ref can see the number on the players back and determine if a law was broken.

  11. FINALLY!

They really needed him, too. I'm happy to see him there and not in Montreal. Especially in the Western Conference.

Anaheim will have another good season.

    Fedorov

    Selanne

    Sykore

    Rucchin

    R. Niedermayer

    S. Niedermayer

    Ozolinch

    Vishnevski

    Carney

    Giguere

also they have some young talent on the way. Getzlaf, Perry, Bobby Ryan, Pahlsson, etc.

  12. I don't want to open a thread for 1 joke so I'll ad a new one here. You guys might have heard it though.

A Wings fan, a Devils fan, a Habs fan and a Leafs fan are standing by the edge of a cliff.

The Wings fan jumps off the cliff and yells: "That's for Detroit!"

The Devils fan jumps off the cliff and yells: "That's for New Jersey!"

The Habs fan pushes the Leaf's fan off the cliff and yells: "That's for hockey!"

    _____________________________________________

What do the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Toronto Argonauts and the Toronto Blue Jays all have in common besides being based in the same city?

None of them can play hockey.

  13. People should be suspended for attempt to injure as well. But that would make the NHL go crazy. People would be diving left, right and center looking for suspensions. Think of the play-offs.

Also, players will say that they were going for the puck and it was an accident. There will be arguments on every case.

In a situation that there is a succesful attempt to injure then the attacker should sit the period that the victim sits and maybe an extra game.

An accidental injury like the Bégin case will obviously result in no penalty. It happens all the time. No one in their right min would say Bertuzzi was not trying to injure Steve Moore and since Moore was injured Bertuzzi falls in the "succesful attempt-to-injure" category.
