He CAN'T be plucked by vegas. thats the point.

Plekanec can be left unexposed in the draft. If Tampa wants him, its so they can protect Killorn (which they can't right now).

Filpulla MUST be protected due to his NMC.  Whatever team he is on, he counts as one of their protected forwards.

This is why Tampa might be willing to trade us a better and cheaper player right now for Plekanec.

I believe I read that Filpula has partial no trade clause, He has 16 or 18 teams he cannot be traded to. So does that make any difference to the expansion draft?

No actually I was completely gobsmacked that they fired him. I do think CJ ( have to find nick name for him) is  a step up. But really what about poor wee davey? His career probably just crashed and burned. And poor MB  he has to show cj how the fox hole works.

Did you read what I was responding to? I do not bring up the trade, but will respond to those that do and chime in with my 2 cents. And 'all' haven't put it to bed quite yet.

No need to apologize, I know you just wanted to get the music reference in there.

..but when you make a trade like the PK trade. You are saying your all in and trying to win a cup now. If that's the case then to get a top guy that will put you over the top now you trade that top prospect to get him.  If your not then the PK trade is pointless .

That looks to me to be a general statement on a trade using the one we will not mention as an example. But if nothing else I got to bug you a little bit. get over it, get over it, I just love that song.

No..you are making assumptions and just getting rid of a prima-donna was reason enough.

Does not mean you need to mortgage future for a quick fix.

Don you are the only one who keeps bringing up the trade where we sent a young superstar, for an aging superstar. As The Eagles would say, Get over it, Get over it. We all have.

Thank you for the kind words. some one else alreafy started the When does CJ get fired.:D

  6. Well colour me shocked. I did not believe that the Bruins would release him to the Habs. Maybe they felt bad after treating him so shabbily. Good Bye Le Genius, happy to see you go, I just know you will get a job right away. Of course we are going to be paying you for a long time. So maybe you sit at home with a bottle of scotch and watch tv. Anyway careful the door doesn't hit your ass on the way out.

     Bit from 2nd to last coach firing;

    "Expectations were high this season...

After a strong start, the Canadiens went into a skid starting just before the all-star game in Montreal on Jan. 25 that saw them win only three of 15 games and fall from safely in playoff position to the thick of the race for the eighth and final post-season spot in the NHL Eastern Conference.

They rebounded with four close wins, then lost two more on the road – including a hapless 2-0 loss to lowly Atlanta – before beating injury-riddled Dallas.

Just a few weeks ago Gainey said his best move as Habs GM was hiring Carbonneau.

But now the former Canadiens captain is out as his team fell into lacklustre, indisciplined hockey and the threat of missing the playoffs came into the picture.

There had been calls for the coach to be axed recently from fans and some media members who felt he had no answers to the way opponents had been shutting down to Montreal's quick-transition game.

"There were certain games when I had a real confusion about the overall ... it showed up as effort, but I felt like it was emotional engagement to a game," said Gainey. "Our team (did) not seem to be emotionally engaged.""

Will a similar post-mortum be written within next month or so, if losses keep coming after spring break.

Just to clarify, they cannot hire Claude Julien right now. They need Boston's ok, and I doubt the Bruins are going to give that permission to the Habs of all teams. They have a shot at the playoffs, and they are not going to fork that for any reason. Maybe in the off season but definitely not now. So now the choice is Captn Kirk, and I would be happy with that but of course the old language rule comes into effect. As to Mr Gainey replacing Carbo as coach, the team did worse so smart move Bob.  You knew how to run an organization but you were't much of a coach for Montreal. Bob is one of my hero's but the truth is the truth.

Honestly, all you have to do is fire MT and hire a francophone 'associate coach.' Muller calls the shots but they either do joint press conferences where the French guy answers questions in French,  or else the associate coach becomes the media face of the coaching staff. This would build on Ottawa's model to be an innovative workaround of the Affirmative Action policy, allowing us to have Muller - or any other desirable Anglo head coach.

Note that I'm just saying this is how it can be done. I don't believe MB will do it until he has clear evidence that the team has tuned Therrien out. And even then, he might not do it, preferring to trade away malcontents rather than compromise his ideal of 'organizational stability' or his Alpha Male status and the guy who sets terms rather than reacts to them.

The sad part is that we must have a francophone coach, to bullshite the reporters after the game. The system was working really good tonite blah blah. The system was not being played properly tonite, blah blah. For this crap we have to take what coach we can get who speaks french? We make winning the cup that much harder for this crap? How about we appoint 1 of the asst coaches, chief spokesman for feeding bull crap to the reporters.

    Much ado about nothing.

Gallagher comes back as he did at outdoor game, who cares if he has to ice his hand down afterwards.

Whether a player 'plays through' an injury, or player & medical staff declare he is fit to play again, so be it.

That is all well and good but if he injures that hand again tonite, I for one will be pissed.
