  1. Best example of a junior star that went bust is Alexandre Daigle.

I live in the Ottawa area nd could see the reason why a bilingual star in the making kid got picked. The bigger mistake was the contract offered and signed. The Sens had a freakin' real estate broker as a GM at the time. Anyways, part of the problem is when do you bail on a kid. Ribs has huge talent and in my books he's a lock. He needs his cage rattled and Gainey will do that. Example #1 of letting go of talent was John LeClair. (Don't get me started on Patrick Roy's departure).

I have no issues with the Habs dropping potential like Chouinard and Balej.

We is deep in prospects. I can't wait to see Chipchura in his first pro game.

  2. Good points LS. It behooves me (look it up) why hnic and tsn see value in such a vapid empty (ex-leaf) wad like healey. He's arguably the most transparent idiot on teevee today (yes the same teevee that includes doncherry). Maybe its for comic relief.

  3. I'm relatively new here but threads like this make me cry tears of joy. weep.

First of foremost, any true diehard Habs fan is and/or should be a leaf hater.

The Bruins are IMO our true on-ice rivals but the losers at the western end of the 401 (aka Trans-Canada) are hockey's sad sacks of pucks and should be booted every chance we get. Even more so with the ear-shattering noise that comes from the leafarazzi.

elf will try to tell us that jrjf is an A+ genius. heh. How hard is it to sign cheap contracts for busted players desperate to play in their hometown. eesh, a chimp with a pencil and a leaf jersey could've signed lindros for less.

The leaf is in a pickle and I love it. As mentioned above they've changed directions, not by choice but because the league caught up with the tml's modus operandi. The leaf still has 4 extremely overpaid players (why they didn't buy out belfour, mcpivot and clutch is beyond me) including their resident turtle, domi. Put a mic in front of tie and he cries like a 2 year old that got his huge head stuck in the bars of his crib.

The leaf is as deep with prospects as a wading pool is after its drained. What have they got in the 'superstar' prospect potential? zip, unless of course cocacolakid turns into the next errol thompson.

The elf claim depth at centre. OK. Then what? mthrtckr?

On D its even worse. aki berg can't smell Bouillon cube's jock.

In G, they better pray to Barilko that Belfour (nice guy, builds musclecars, sometimes drinks too much but who doesn't) doesn't blow out his back. Weird thing is their backup (Aubin) is currently better than ours (Danis). It. Won't. Last.

Funny dichotomy, the Habs picked (in this year's interesting draft) a huge goalie prospect yet the leafarazzi slagged their choice and dug deep and found some nice words for a tukka. Weird eh? The Habs draft the best athlete available at #5 and get a near sure thing for goalie greatness but leafwipes like tsn's pierre maguire go all patquinn on the selection. What's not to love about habs haters like maguire.

Will the leaf make the playoffs? I'm betting no. Too many teams have improved for me to suggest that the leaf can sneak a #8 spot.

Unlike elf I don't wish injury on an oppent's players but I can see lindros, allison oneill and clUtch getting hit, hard. Preferably by the Habs' KRex. Someone mentioned Ribs popping lindros into the ICU. Man, dats funny.

Anyways, as you can tell, I hate the leaf and its stupider fan(s). I've enjoyed decades of perrenial/annual leaf failure. It puts a smile on my face and a bounce in my step. The moisture of tears of laughter are sent down to us by Howie, Maurice and Bunny up in heaven. Thnx boys, you make our Spring as fun as it gets.

My parting shot (think wrister to the top corner on palmateer) is I am ecstatic to have Bob Gainey as my teams (and yours) as our GM. Is it me or did Babs bypass the CotU and head straight to Montreal, home of the greatest hockey franchise ever and yes home to some of the most beautiful women on the planet.

    For tsn, this is moeman.

  4. As a few of my ex-ceeb board and metro colleagues know I have a hate on for elf and for hnic.

elf will tell you to change the channel even though your hard-earned tax dollars go to prop up Canada's most hated team. They'll blow blue&white steam up your a$$ and yip yap about ratings and the bigger (dumber) market of elf at the CotU.

Its all cr@p of course but then again it comes from elf.

cbc has a national mission. Considering what they cram via hnic they are failing badly. I've emailed back & forth for years with cbc HQ execs. They comment that the market determines what viewers see. This might explain Anne of Green Gables and Beachcombers 2005 but with 6 teams to choose from and a huge slice of air time given to the leaf, the ceeb is simpy giving true and knowledegeable hockey fans the finger. Some fans are in the closet and don't see things so good.

The Habs scored a great full-season+playoffs deal with RDS. 5 years / $80M. the coverage is very good and because its a private company I don't mind the homerism (mostly by ex-Habs Benoit Brunet and coach Demers). Luckily we aren't insulted by complete morons like cherry, cole, neale, friedman, starchcan, millen and mclame (i omit healey cause I think he got punted but he is the worst).

The really sick thing about a supposed national show like hnic is how they go out of their way to leafify all content. They are a sick and cloistered bunch but the annual leaf playoff bail is as delicious as it gets. Its like 38 layers of icing.

hnic has become a home for racism, bigotry and fascism. I, personally, am not surprised that elf lap it up like lemmings.

I am glad that the Habs are not associted, in any, way, shape or form with them.
