Soccerox
What is "cold". somebody told me one day that it is "loss of heat". But what makes the weather cold and why?
RobRock
I don't think it's a loss of heat but rather an absence of it. For example, you take a pot of water. When you boil it, the atoms move around each other more quickly, and the result is the production of heat. If you take it off the heat, then the water will cool as the atoms return their natural movement pattern. Conversely, if you put the water into a refrigerator, you slow the atoms movements considerably, and it produces even less heat energy than it would at room temperature. You take it out and the molecules will slowly return to their natural movement pattern.
