Is Belfour still an elite goalie? Heck no. But he's still putting up better SV% than a lot of guys today, including Theodore, Esche, Osgood, and Nabokov.

Fanpuck33 You really need to reread the post. So someone wants to have a little harmless fun here at the expense of a usless goalie. By calling someone out like that was really uncalled for. It is harmless fun, yet you want to jump down someones throat for that? Interesting.....

Belfour is done and if you think he is better than Theo then you really have a problem with Montreal's current goaltending. I would take Theo over Belfour even in Belfour's good years.

Don't bother with a witty remark as this is my last post here and I won't see it. I just banned myself before I can fall prey into a thread war. I did not know having an opinion or fun was against forum rules. Bye

    GO HABS GO! ALWAYS...

  2. Fanpuck33 to 2000!

Hip Hip Hooray! Great job for your contributions Fanpuck33 to the excellent Habulous corner of the world. (I tried habs fabulous and it didn't look right):)

Great friendships and fun arguements abound on the best habs site in the world....

  3. The rumour is that Burke does not want a contract coming back. He wants to get rid of him and get back a draft choice/futures/leather chair???? Looks like Burke is told to cut payroll where he can. $3.1 million bucks is a big chunk of change Sykora makes.

I just heard the same thing by Uncle Wilber that Leaf Lunch guy on the pregame for Leafs/Ducks game tonight. Now that pregame is over time to change the channel. Lets see...oh ya, 76'ers/timberwolve game tonight....

  4. Buffalo played great and lost what one or two games without their best centre and best goalie. Good thing other guys picked up the slack and played well for them.

I don't buy: "Oh our best Players are out Waaaa Waaaa" that is Leaf crybaby talk. Yes Montreal will lose games because of this, but not this many.

The team needs help somewhere to wake up the players and the coaches. Even if they do one small thing like make one new offensive play, or learn to hit the net when shooting the puck from the point. Even have Dags stand in front of Cujo all night. Drive the X-Leaf goalie nuts and maybe pick up a goal or two. Dags is big enough to do this.

Some things can be done without trades or someone being fired. Try something to confuse the opposition. Regardless of what happens, I will still cheer on the Habs even as I throw a brick at the TV. :)

Actually not too many Laff fans said anything, there was the odd comment but as always they didn't make any sense. I did get my cousin to say :ghg: to Carlton Bear.

I have met so many Leaf fans that make no sense. One(A friend) is from Equador and went into a hockey pool at work and didn't even know what a puck looked like or who to pick. According to him he is a Leaf fan though??????

My older brother is a bonafide Leaf fan, however even he knows how much they suck because he cannot even bother to watch more than 4 or 5 Leaf games a year. Why? Because every year they have no chance of winning the cup.

  6. I actually listened to this on the Fan590 this morning. Toronto a hockey town.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ya right. Leaf town all the way and only Leafs. Good tickets to Marlies is ~$60 bones. To see a sick baby leaf team, no thanks most people say in Toronto.

It would be funny to see a team move to T-DOT and win a cup. Hahahahhaha Loser Leaf fans and media......

The D other then Markov really hasn't improved. that is Rick Green's job. Maybe he should go. Maybe it's time for several of the core players to move on, the defense is average at best. Playing hard has been the main problem in my opinion for the last few years.

Let me try one more time. I am not totally blaming Julien for this funk that the Habs are in. He may well be a sound coach and has great ideas for the team; however I do question how the defence plays in the "Defensive" end of the game. I am also questioning the "LACK" of offensive plays. Cycle, cycle, cycle... Enough to make you get dizzy watching these guys trying to score from behind the net.

If Coach Julien is not smart enough to change plays or create new plays based on the talent at hand, then I don't think he is good enough for the job.

Most of us here notice the talent level on the team is not bad. If a small change happens in coaching or having a consultant come in to help the coaches, I would not be upset. Sometimes people get too comfortable in there job and are not able to create new ways of doing things. I dont mind if Montreal loses a few games when the stars are injured, just not most games!

Have to agree. Montreal needs to trade forwards for defense if anything. I know a few people here think our defense is fine, however a little bit of depth on D will help get out of the funk.

If someone like Zednik got traded it would not break my heart He is good, goes to the net, but in long range plans I do not think will be part of the team. Being offensively gifted Montreal should be able to get a solid(Not Star) defensman from a team challenged with goal scoring.

I do believe nothing will happen as too many injuries to even trade forwards right now.

  10. At the speed I expect changes in this organization I will say:

    d) status quo...

I would like to see Montreal play better with a small trade or even a lineup similar to what they started the year with. (I know with the top 2 forwards out good luck)

Alas, I believe nothing will happen until injured players are back.

So Aeon Flux is not worth spending the money on? The advertising looked good so this figures...

  12. After reading this thread I cannot in good faith wear my Habs Cap until Gainey does something. There are a couple of guys that either need to be instructed better or maybe the instructors need adjustment / replacement.

Montreal is not as bad as the last 10 games I watched. Who are these guys? Glad I missed this disaster. Did anyone play good?

Oh well bring on the Great One's team....

  13. Show Me The Money.

Good thread shortcat1, I read this too and thought they were not serious. Hockey should have top 12 teams period. 16 teams is too much and 20 is just WAY too much.

When baseball went to wildcard the purists were wanting to jump off buildings. For baseball expansion in my opinion was good because nothing like knowing your team had no chance 3/4 of the way into the season. Now it is better as there is hope if you are a winning team.

Hockey is just going to reward substandard teams with at least 2 home games. Not a good idea in my humble opinion.
