  1. Isn’t offer-sheeting really frowned upon though?

I think MB gets by by having great relationships with other GMs, it be odd to see him do that.

It be be funny to me because Carolina was a big reason we missed some playoff hockey last year, be funny to see the Habs stick it to them lol.

Agree, again. Let’s just hope that Lee and Gardiner do turn out to be the outcome. I have a gut feeling about Lee, but Gardiner is harder to imagine, after all the crap he’s had to eat in TO.

I think he might be really intrigued about getting the opportunity to play with a real number one D in Weber. A guy that can carry the defensive load and the pairing and let Gardiner just do his thing, he has never had that opportunity in his time with the Leafs.

  3. I personally don’t think Nashville is better with Duchene over Subban, I understand that they are strong on defense but I don’t think Duchene puts them over the top.

I understand Nashville is suffering with some failed centre acquisitions in Turris and to a lesser extent Bonino and Johanson isn’t producing like they want him too but what do they do now, put Turris on the 3rd line? That’s an expensive group of centres.

Context    On a team with Josi , ekholm, and ellis... along with dante fabbro as their top prospect.  Yup, they are willing to sacrifice a d to get a centre.

    Context matters.

If they were the oilers with 3 top cs and nothing at right d, would they still value duchene more?  What about the leafs?  The penguins?

    Oh I agree with that.

I was just stating Nashville thinks more highly of Duchene than Subban right now. I think the cap reason is probably one of the biggest reasons but I don’t think it was the sole reason.

I don't think both can work cap wise... one we can do, but both will be issues going forward with Domi, Gallagher needing raises, then Kotkaniemi, etc...

    Thanks,

Karlsson’s injury problems should be cause for a little concern, he’s also a RD and we don’t know if he would be open to playing his off side should he want to sign. Duchene plays both centre and wing and is good on face-offs.

It'll be interesting to see what happens this off season.

  6. I’m all for bringing in Karlsson and trying to figure it out afterwards but You have to get Domi done this or next year and he will be commanding between 6-8 mill.

The Habs will have some cap work to do.

What if Duchene and Karlsson both want to sign with Montreal, how do you make that work? Or do you say no to Duchene?

Well, we didn't get playoffs, but we did get some intense (and meaningful) games at the very end of the regular season. Onward and upward next season!

Very true, I was happy to watch some really exciting hockey this year.

Shame they couldn’t get it done but that’s how it goes sometimes.

I see that Columbus is doing what you are supposed to do in a big game: they are continually pressing the attack and adding to their lead.  A shame the Habs didn't approach the 3rd period in such a manner.

They did that exact thing to Islanders on Thursday.

Give the boys some slack, they have been playing hard. It was a back to back where they had to travel and Carolina is one of the hottest teams in the league.

Also Julien had to shorten his bench in the third because he doesn’t trust Drouin or Kotkaniemi. Not saying I agree or disagree with that either but it happened.

  9. Price was amazing and deserved a better fate.

Interesting that Drouin and Kotkaniemi were benched during OT and most of the end of the third.

Drouin had another really bad turnover that resulted in the Canes best scoring chance but other then that I though he was actively trying out there. It seems like he really is in his head and needs to start going off instinct. The thing is though his rope is pretty much spent and one has to wonder what his future will look like if this continues.

  10. One positive thing is that should the Habs make the playoffs that will mean that they will be riding a hot streak.

Another thing is president trophy winning teams very rarely win the cup so who the hell knows lol.

Price has been playing exceptionally lately and over the past two games Weber has goals in both and is starting to look better. Good things.
