  1. I know Drouin can be frustrating at times and sometimes takes games off and has lazy plays but if he wants to he can completely take over a game. He has that kind of talent.

Watch for the playoffs to really show this as he did in Tampa a couple years ago.

I’m telling you guys Domi and Drouin will be playoff hero’s.

A little overly negative are we?

I mean even the last place team in the league wins games.

And no team wins every game, the Habs have just won 4 in a row and are playing back to back with travel against a team that hasn't played since Wednesday.

Yep, they look lethargic and tired.

They have played a lot of hockey. Knowing this team they come out and tie it in the third and hopefully get a point.

Grit is fine...Ryan Malone-like Cocaine induced freak outs are very immature and childish.

If you think mocking the ref is the way to go, we can easily agree to disagree.

Matthews and Eichel did the same bit of mocking at last years all-star game. I’m fine with it, refs should be held accountable and made fun of sometimes. I doubt they are taking it too personally.

In regards to Domi’s hot headedness, personally I think it’s great and it really got under Florida’s skin. I’ve said in the past I think Domi is going to thrive in the playoffs, he’s the kind of guy that gets it done for you and gives the team that spark that is needed sometimes.

Habs aren't in a position to trade Petry. Who replaces his points and minutes? Juulsen ain't there yet, and might never be. Brook is a couple years away. Fleury is probably trending to 3rd pairing.

He's probably going to be a 50 point defenseman this year. Try to enjoy it.

    I certainly am.

He is a major reason the Habs might make the playoffs. Only 1 point back from the best team in the whole wide world.

Be nice to see Domi get one. I'm not going to lie, this is more like the player I thought we were getting in the Galchenyuk trade. 17 games now with out a goal.

He may not have scored in a while but he’s still getting points and is responsible for many game winning assists over the last 17.

He’s an assist guy we all knew that, his goals were just a cherry on top. He’s still battling and playing hard and trying but is a bit snake bitten. I’d rather him get hot towards the end of the season and hopefully the playoffs.

Im near Toronto and see him a lot too

That's where i get the Petry comparison. Generally the defense is good but when he messes up its bad and he's on the wrong end of the highlight reel

Yes his mistakes are bad, but I don't think they are more numerous than others.  He's also handicapped with getting no help from his partner

His possession metrics have generally been very good and there have been some times where he got some tough minutes included in that

Ok well I trust your analysis. If you think it would be a good acquisition then I’m all for it. We have seen what Weber can do with his partners, also I agree that Zaitsev can be even worse than Gardiner in the defensive zone.

  7. Thanks I forgot he was a UFA.

I think Benn can be serviceable at a decent cap hit for another year but if he gets moved I won’t cry about it.

The Jake Gardiner proposition is an interesting one. Being in Toronto and having watched him play for a long time he can skate and move the puck but my goodness is he a tire fire in his own end. Like really bad, I wonder what Weber could do for him but I’m afraid of the first line minutes he would be playing and the gaffs he’s used too.

The last two games again Boston and again tonight on the Avalanche third goal he was absolutely brutal.

  8. Kotkaniemi is going to be such a force for Montreal in the next decade and beyond. He is growing and learning and already holding his own in the best league in the world as the youngest player in the league.

His board battles are struggling and he lost the puck a couple times on the PP but put himself in a great position to score his goal. He is so big too, I honestly can’t imagine what he looks like once he fills out and becomes the man he was always meant to be, could be some scary stuff......... for the other team!?

After last night, does anyone want a Petry?

    Yes.

He is a stud number two defenceman that can play number one for a while. Sure he made a mistake but that does not take away what he’s done this year.

It also can’t be understated how much of an impact having Shea Weber in the lineup has on our defence core, the minute he went down all hell broke loose.

They could just be holding out Weber for precautionary reasons too - too much swelling to make a diagnosis so ere on the side of caution.  The defence hasn't looked too sharp in his absence.  How many high-quality chances did they give up there?

    I hope so,

Far too many for comfort. Lol

  11. I think it’s unfair to expect Juulsen and Brook to be able to step in and fill Petry’s shoes. He has slowly become an integral part of this Habs defence and dare I say apart of the core that could be contending in the next few years.

I understand getting the max deal from Petry now that he’s playing really good but those kids won’t be able to step in to what Petry is doing for the next 3-4 years, it would be a shame to trade him away now that he’s playing like a borderline #1 Dman, especially when the future looks so bright not only in the distant future but right now!

  12. I just have a good feeling if we make the playoffs this year we can make a good splash. Our division and the eastern conference in general is stacked with really good teams and everything has been very close.

Montreal is one point behind Boston who is third and five points behind Toronto and a lot of people consider those two teams contenders. Tampa is in a world by themselves(Kucherov my goodness he’s having a year) but we had a pretty tight game with them recently where Niemi played badly. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that this team could do damage.

Just watched the replay.   Petersson is not so innocent as well.  He kinda braked and engaged with KK, obviously trying to get in his way and slow him down. He even swang his elbow/shoulder just before they went down.

I agree, not sure why Petersson went full pylon in front of a in stride Kotkaniemi. Looked like a bit of interference to me, obviously Kotkaniemi hooked him no question but Petersson was trying to sell it a little too, then they both got tangled up and it was an unfortunate fall that resulted in a great player getting injured.

Petersson is going to be a hell of a player and is a treat to watch play hockey, hopefully he recovers quickly.

  14. Personally I have a feeling that Domi and Drouin will get it done for the Habs in the playoffs. Drouin we have already seen what he’s capable of, being Tampa’s best player and Domi just seems like the kind of guy that turns it on during the playoffs like Gallagher.

Price has been looking great lately like the Price of old and if Weber can play like he did the last playoff(arguably the Habs best player). Also if some of there secondary scoring like Shaw/Lehkonen/Byron can chip in I think Montreal can make some real noise in these playoffs.

Obviously they have to make the playoffs first and with how tight it seems right now, that could be a real problem but I could see the Habs upsetting a few teams if they make it.
