Benn has reverted back to his old ways.

I never liked Schlemko. He thinks he's more than he is. Bad pinches, stick handles way too long in his own end, then makes a terrible pass because everyone is covered by the time he gets rid of it.

I didn't think he was as bad as Benn last night, but i would assume one of those two will be gone shortly.

Like commandant said Benn is just playing too far up the line up. He’s not a top pair guy and never was but it’s what the team has to work with.  Schlemko is showing why he is a journeyman that has been bouncing around from team to team on the third line maybe he can be useful but who knows. Probably my traded soon when Juulsen and Weber are back.

I wouldn’t mind a somewhere to bring in a somewhat capable second line guy. Nothing flashy but someone that can at least keep up with Petry. Not sure who but that needs to be addressed if Montreal plan on making the playoffs.

Read on tsn that the last player to get 24+ points in the first 20 games for the habs was Odie Clegghorn in 18-19...  100 years ago.

Yeah I did see that but I think it was corrected that it’s only for new Habs players. So basically rookies or players brought over in a trade.

Still amazing stat, Max making new records already.

  3. Petry was a stud tonight.

Drouin on pace for 70 pts.

Tatar looks to have found a team he enjoys playing for and it’s showing.

Kotkaniemi is looking like he belongs and is only getting better, drawing a lot of penalties this year on his raw skill. Was really happy the boys scored on the PP after that trash hit from Del Zotto.

And Price looks like he has been able to get it together and looks to be having fun again which is huge! We need our stars to be playing well.

Last season he was highly effective on the PP.

Its not Petry that is the problem on this PP.

It is the lack of someone in the Kovalev/Cammalleri/Galchenyuk spot... taking one timers at the top of the right circle.

Put someone in that spot who can score and suddenly Petry is way more effective doing it from the left circle and Drouin at the top of the umbrella has a ton of options.

After Weber's injury, The PP was excellent last season.  It was the only bright spot the team had.  It was a top 5 PP in the NHL in the second half of the season, and that was with Petry at the point.  So he can be very effective.

The issue is that shot in the right-hand circle.  And unless they fix that, and find someone to shoot like Galchenyuk did last year (I nominate Tatar to get a look there) it won't matter even with Weber back.  I'd switch Tatar (down low right now) and Domi (currently in that spot).

You really need those dual one-timer threats.  One threat is not enough and teams will just shade to take away Petry and until they can get someone on the other side, its not effective for that reason.

    Very interesting take.

Would help if a Petry could hit the net more often, which is my only criticism of him on the PP right now.

  5. People are right. Defense is the main problem here goaltending is the secondary issue.

Petry as much as he is trying is just playing too many minutes and is not a #1. He seems like he can’t hit the broad side of a barn either which is why we saw Reilly on the first wave a couple times.

Benn is in the same boat he’s a decent 3rd liner but should not be playing top pair, he doesn’t have the mind or smarts for it. Limit his minutes and he can still be effective.

Alzner is literally a pylon, should be sent down when Weber returns.

Glad to see Schlemko back I think him and Petry could make a decent second line. With Mete and Juulsen on the third. This should bring the core back into a situation where they are giving the goaltending some help.

Plekanec dies so Kotkaniemi can live.

Career stats with the Habs: 7th in games played, 17th in goals, 13th in assists, 13th in points...

I don't like it. Waive Deslauriers and shift Peca to the wing. Pleks has more to offer and earned a better send off than this.

Think of it this way. He played his 1000th game(a big reason I think they wanted to resign him) scored a goal and had a great send off in that regard. He then gets put on IR and we never see him again.

I think that game was his send off and I think Plekanec and management wanted it so. He went out on a high note. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Habs approached him for a job within the organization either but it looks like he had other plans, possibly going back to Czech Republic.

  7. Max Domi trying to carry the team on his back poor lad. Petry is starting to show why he will never be a top pair guy, he’s playing too many minutes.

PP looks atrocious, it’s a momentum killer at this point and like I assumed not having any elite shot from anywhere is really hurting it.

Price. I love the guy but he’s scaring the shit out of me right now.

Habs, Bruins, Sabres all with 16pts

Habs 26th ranked PP cant be worse with Weber and the PK should improve as well, which isnt that horrible now at 16th.

Real tight rankings in the east.

I agree and again I’m voicing the concern of not having that truly elite shot that Weber has. As much as I love Domi, I wish we were able to keep Galchenyuk somehow because of his shot.

Sure, but the problem is constructive criticism is not what we are seeing generally, its over reactions and toxic behavior. In Hudon's case, in Price's case, there is no consideration for the big picture, no consideration that Hudon looked like the best forward the game prior and his real ability as a player is somewhere between both performances. Or that Price is not going to stop a cross seam one timer from Stamkos very often, or keep getting Glove saves off even when a turn over 20 feet from his net results in a guy staring him down 2 seconds later and firing a laser beam just under the bar.

Like I said, there is no construction to the criticism, always irrational negativity no matter what the big picture actually looks like. There were big portions of the 1st and 2nd where we were flying and clearly giving them fits on the ice, no consideration given to that. We were playing a legitimate cup contender, mistakes of any kind would likely be costly, and they were, no consideration given to that. Minus a couple bad penalties and a couple uncharacteristic breakdowns, we played well overall. Our PP was snake bit yet again and didn't give us the timely goal we needed to get back in it, but no consideration given to those points either.

So yes, I agree, constructive criticism is great, but in this case, and in most cases when it pertains to Hab fan reactions in general, it was non existent, yet again.

I can really only speak for myself, I don’t think my criticism of Hudon are unfair. I am on record defending Habs players most recently Drouin who happens to be the newest whipping boy. Has he had some tough stretches for sure but his talent and potential are still there and in the end I think he will put it together.

In Hudons case he is not making it easy for himself right now and IMO the good is not outweighing the bad in regards to his play right now. I want him to succeed because he is a Habs player and I want to see the team succeed and I hope he ends up proving me wrong but I don’t think there is anything wrong voicing my concerns either.

I never disagreed with anything else in your post so I’ll give your first post a Iike.
