  1. Don't get me wrong i am not a Price blinded. I am only stating that Huet is not he goalie i want in the net when everything is on the line.

Save % wull get us a good chance of being in the playoffs. Clutch saves and doors shotted will

tell rivals, you can't beat us when we have the lead.

Yes it's a team thing but the last man standing has to stop the puck. And if he doesn't stand

then we're on the losing side.

I have to disagree with this. Seeing as Price is one of your two "favourite habs" I'd have to say your are Price blinded to a certain extent. This is only one thread, and debates about the goalies will continue until Price is the starter in a year or two, however at this point in time Price is not the goalie that will make those big saves. Other than Luongo, Kiprosoff and Brodeur, there is no goalie in the league that I'd feel more comfortable with than Huet in regards to making that big save. As of now, Price makes the saves he has to, whereas Huet makes the incredible save you don't expect. The two simply cannot be compared. Huet's had a good run since he got back, so like brobin said, there's no need to even bring him up as 'the' issue.

  2. Another needless internet debate, but stop saying that people are happy he's injured simply because of what he did to Koivu. No one's said that on either of the past two pages. No one wished this injury on Williams and this thread wasn't made in hopes that he would get injured in the future. It simply happened and these comments came as a consequence. I'm a Habs fan, watch every game and over time have noticed how well Williams plays against us. I don't take anything I've said back.

  3. I've always been annoyed with Williams when we play the canes. In fact I've probably said "destroy him Komi" on more than one occasion. If other people don't have a problem with him, that's cool but don't get angry at those who do. It's not only about the incident with Koivu, it's the fact that he's scored some big goals against us and always plays chippy vs the habs. My view of him is similar to, say, my view on Tucker. I do not have a smile on my face right now, but the title of the thread did draw my attention unlike any other in this section.

  4. Thats the thiking that kept the Habs from the playoffs last season.

Raycroft was pulled and Huet was not= Habs MISS.

As I said it's a good idea, and with shootout points becoming an important part of the playoff race, I wouldn't be surprised to see teams adopting the strategy in the very near future. That being said, simply from a personal standpoint I wouldn't want to see it happen. I wouldn't complain if Price started winning them on a consistent basis though needless to say.

  5. I'd flip up the lines a bit, put Koivu with Kovalev and Ryder.

Let Plekanec team up with Higgins and Kostitsyn for a real speedy line.

Those are the exact lines I told my buddy Carbo should put together the very same night he switched the lines up for the first time this season. I could see the second line taking awhile to feel comfortable together, and Carbonneau would probably hit the panic button and change them up before they worked out though.

  6. Well this in response to a very specific category of the thread but you guys seriously need to lay off Koivu. He does not belong on the fourth line, he belongs on a line with actual 1st line calliber players. There's much praise for Kosty and Plekanec, and yet while I really like both of them who knows where they would be without each other/Kovalev. Replace Plekanec with Koivu and I assure you he'd be having a career season. Right now this line is carrying the team, but that's simply due to a lack of depth. If we'd be able to play Koivu with someone of (let's say) Kovalev's skill, and have room to have any offense on another line, I don't see how Koivu wouldn't look like a "captain". We surround Koivu with players like Latendresse, Dandenault, Ryder and even Higgins. People may argue that Higgins could potentially be a first liner on other teams in the NHL I but honestly can't buy that as of his current skill level; not on a contender at least. People expect players to produce simply because of the line they represent, not the actual talent that occupies them.

As for Carbo, he's only been on the job for a relatively short period of time. I've not been a fan of many of his decisions, but I'm sure I would be if the team was playing well. They have the capability of playing well under his wing, which leads me to believe that the players need to take responsibility. If the team is playing well, he has no reason to call anyone out. The habs are on a slump and like simonus said, different methods have different impacts on different personalities. That being said, Carbo really does need to hit the panic button less often, because some of his mid and post-game theatrics hinder us more often than not.

  7. If you can't produce playing with Crosby, you're not going to produce playing with Koivu. Especially the uninspired version that has been wearing number 11 for the past 7 games.

Two debates here which I don't completely agree with. Obviously playing with Crosby should help one's point total, but as was stated a few times Recchi's getting older and probably can't keep up with a player like Crosby. Just because Crosby's a better player, does not mean he would be a better fit for Recchi than Koivu. Also IF Gainey were to pick him up, who's to say he wouldn't "inspire" Koivu and lead to a more productive season. I doubt we'll pick Recchi up, but it wouldn't be the worst move we could make by any means.

  8. Yeah this could very well be the end for huet if price and halak play well. I remember telling my buddy that huet looked like he pulled something after one of the breakaway saves. This should be an interesting ( ) stretch coming up.

  9. We may have cracks in the lineup, but we've been doing well with our current lineup to be honest. Once Kovalev's line starts to fumble, I'm sure Koivu's line will start scoring the goals... It happens all the time. As for Ryder, yeah, I agree he could be moved for at least a game or two to be brought back to reality. Latendresse, however is not the answer in my books.
