    Don’t like.

from what I’ve ready none of the scoring wingers in the draft will be impactful next season or the year after.

That is too long for the Habs, whether admitted or not they have a 1-2 year window if they add immediate, consistent scoring.

    Both on PP and 5v5.

I believe this means a trade or free agent target.

other posters have mentioned many of the names. Plus, I think there will be more opportunity for this than usual given the economic downturn for the league.

This is huge given they also have cap flexibility to do it and a kick ass wall of défense (again in a window)

immediate scoring help is not coming Via draft unless you have #1.

Immediate scoring help is all that keeps the Habs from being a cup contender with current d/goalie/core forwards (including Danault, not Domi)

I know there's a small 2 year window to try and win the cup, I brought this up after the playoffs. But what I am saying is this, UFA winger's

Hall, Hoffman, dadonov, NAMESTNIKOV, Smith, are all players that can add scoring and depth  to our line up, we can be aggressive and trade for their rights just like with Edmundson.  Me personally I would try and sign dadonov and namestinkov.  We don't need to trade and over pay for a scorer.

If a guy like Quinn is there i would trade up and try to draft him. Even if it means trading Domi to get him.

Then in 3-4 years time our top line would be   Caufield/Suzuki/Quinn

  2. So here's a idea when it comes to a Domi trade. Would people be upset if Bergevin packages Domi and our 16th pick to move into the to 10 if there was a top scoring winger available to be picked?  I think that they're some good winger's available in free agency that maybe we don't need to trade for one. But we could trade up to try and draft another young scoring winger. Just food for thought.

Nope, not good enough to my liking

I would not settle for anything less than a second line winger that would make Armia an excellent 3rd line winger.

Why set the bar low when we want this time to become a cup contender?

I agree I wouldn't take him too but just saying he is not a total loss and is a useful player as long you don't give up a lot to get him. Giving up Domi or a 1st is way too much to gamble on him. If I am trading a guy like domi and a 1st i better be getting back a top 4 player that's established in the league.

Do we really need more third-line wingers? I would focus on impact wingers, and adding one of those may well take care of the third line, too (depending on the trade).

Is Puljujarvi capable of scoring 30? What's his ceiling? Armia was on pace for 24, I really would like to see someone with potential to do something significantly more. And he would not have a major cap space impact. What Edmonton wants for him at this point is a different question, though.

Our 3rd line winger's are more 4th line winger's. He would add depth and scoring to the line up. Plus his someone who can move up the line up if a top winger gets injured.

Just read Kessel is on the block with 2 years @5mil per left

i know he has attitude issues and his defence is suspect, but a Domi + picks to get him for 2 years may be worth it if Arizona will have Domi back.

He has no motivation to play hard, he won't last in Montreal once fans are let back into live sporting events. He has his cup's and big money contract, he seem like he's just wants to play out his contract.

    We are resigning Petry.

If any more d-changes this off-season are made it will be subtraction only.

I agree about the D changes I think he is done.  The left side is full right now with the addition of Romanov and Edmundson, so any moves now will be to address the scoring issue and power play issue. But I do love the fact that he is addressing our team needs this off season and not just standing pack.

Ristolainen is terrible.  Thats a massive overpayment for a shit player.

Last 6  years average 35+pts a game on bad buffalo team's , He isn't shit . if you don't like the guy that's your entitlement, but don't call the guy shit because you don't like him .

That would seem to make sense ... BUT ... it doesn't help keep Eichel happy ... Jack was rumoured to be very frustrated with missing the playoffs for the FIFTH straight season ... OR, in other words, his entire NHL career to date ... if they move their #1 defenceman (TOI leader by 3:18 minutes per game over Montour. 3:30 over Dahlin) for picks and prospects (NHL ready are still unproven so IMO prospects) it clearly signals a rebuild ... feel sorry for Kevin Adams ... no experience on the hockey operations side, one year as Senior Vice President of Business Administration ... no assistant GM as yet or senior advisors ... only ONE pro scout ... hopefully MB is calling him twice a day and becoming his best friend.

I think they look at DAHLIN as a number one D going forward. Which is why RISTOLAINEN may want out. But buffalo is a disaster of a organization. I think everyone there is unhappy. Doesn't seem to matter what they do it doesn't pan out.

On TSN690 this afternoon one of their TSN-TV guests said the Sabres are rumoured to have to cut 10 million real dollars from last season ... so don't know what they would want for Risto that would result in a real money reduction ... Sabres really can't really go full rebuild and have a happy Jack Eichel ...

If they're cutting money then picks and prospects and young NHL ready players or players on friendly contracts are what they're looking for.

For absolutely no reason I have a funny feeling about Dumba in and Petry out ... but not for each other ... Domi+ for Dumba and Petry auctioned off to the highest bidder

I think we got enough physical D on this team now that we don't need Dumba. But if we're going to upgrade the right side I wouldn't mind a guy like RISTOLAINEN.

Could Habs get a high scoring winger for Danault-Mete or Kulak-& pick package?

What would Domi, d-man and pick get for return? Enough?

What is more important to Habs at present; a checking centre or adding a high scoring winger upgrade?

(Really dont think Danualt is going anywhere, unless his comments do influence MB's decisions?).

I agree about danault but his comments will kick start other GM's to give Bergevin a call see ask about  Danault. I think Bergevin will listen to offers but unless one is too good to pass up on then I don't see him going anywhere either.

I think Domi/Kulak and a top end  prospect or top end pick (1st or 2nd) can land us a top scoring winger.

Mete has little trade value unless it's to a team rebuilding and looking for a young D to develop until they become contenders. But to a playoff team or bubble team he's a 6/7 D with upside.

  12. 2 hours ago, GHT120 said:

If Mete gets traded he at least will have support ...

Not a huge fan of the him on the ice but sincere congratulations to the man ... nice that he seemed to pull of  bit of a surprise proposal ... better that she said yes

I think it's between him and kulak on who will be traded. To be honest I think it could be kulak since his trade value his higher and has 2 years left on a his contract. Mete is still young and a RFA.

If Danault + asset gets you Laine and Domi +asset gets you Ehlers.  Assuming the other asset is the same or comparable, would your answer be the same?

I don’t think it’s a question of who’s seen as the better player, the question is how much better of a return does Danault bring vs Domi.  Now I know if Winnipeg moves those two players, at least one will be moved for a top dman, so neither scenario is likely, but just making that point that while I like Danault better than Domi and I like Ehlers as a return for Domi, I like Laine more.

I agree with jets wanting a D in any trade for Laine. That being said I am not sold on him and wouldn't trade for him.

I see Anaheim as an interesting trade partner. They got 2 LD in Fowler and Lindholm. Lindholm has 2 years left with Fowler on his new 6 year contract. So they might be willing to trade Lindholm since his contract is coming up in 2 years time. Domi would help give them more offense. BACKES Contract is up after next year and so is Getzlaf, so if they're playing on going younger Domi would be a good pick up for them.

Domi and Lindholm trade could work out for both teams.

  14. I hope we trade our 1st and get a elite winger or D. We have all the right components to pull off a major trade

NHL roster players (Danault, Domi, Mete,Byron) names that have been in rumors mill.

Draft picks (1st and 2nd picks we have)

A good prospect pool we have.

These are what teams look at when base of a major trade for elite type players.

Now I wouldn't trade Danault but I understand him wanting to be the team's number one center and not giving that up to be the 3rd line center.

I'm pretty sure that Winnipeg can do better than a problematic #2 C and a #5 d-man and 'some other stuff' for an elite talent like Laine. Smart GMs don't trade a core player for a middling team's spare parts.

Like I joked in another thread, Domi + Mete is the new Ryder + a 2nd...

Yeah I would think that the Jets would be pushing for Caufield along with domi and mete in any trade talk for Laine. I would pass on laine, they're some good UFA that can add depth and scoring to our line up we don't need to over pay to get laine.

I really think adding DADONOV, and  NAMESTNIKOV To our line up would add depth through out the lines plus add scoring depth through out our line ups.

Why would the habs acquire yet another defenseman?

and Domi alone gets you no where near Laine imo. Domi + Mete and either our first OR a second + B prospect (Brook, ikonen Ylonen etc)

Could just be my opinion tho

That's what I said in my post, domi won't get you laine but a package that would include domi/mete would be a good starting point.

As for getting another D we still need a #1 LD.

  17. 6 minutes ago, Trizzak said:

Gonna package Domi and Mete in a "Who wants to negotiate with Ferris?" deal?

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if he does package Domi and Mete especially if a D is coming back our way. I don't see it if it's a forward unless it's a trade with the Jets for Laine and Bergevin adds Mete in the deal because Jets need help on the back end.

I don't know much about Edmundson, but have to assume he is better than Ouellette. If he gets signed why are we complaining again?

I think people are just complaining because of the 5th round pick for a UFA even though we had 3 5th round picks. I for one like it. He's a stay at home type D which is a big upgrade on that left side.

  19. 24 minutes ago, Trizzak said:

Okay say he signs and then go with probable pairings based on NHL work to date:

    Chiarot - Weber

    Kulak - Petry

    Edmundson - Mete

Romanov, Juulsen, Fleury either 7th D or AHL...

Plus Olofsson, Leskinen, Alzner, Brook in the minors...

This has got to be a precursor to another move, right? I know you can never have enough defensemen but we have enough defensemen.

He still can add a UFA also, some LD names hitting UFA are

    Krug

    Vatanen

Adding Krug to the mix now with Edmundson and Romanov now we have ourselves a Dcore

    Krug  / Weber

    Romanov   / Petry

    Edmundson  / Chiarot

Looks like a pretty solid D something we haven't had here in sometime.

Would then package Domi/Mete and our 1st or one of our 2nd round picks to land us a top scoring winger.

Wonder if Oilers (14th) or Panthers (12th) would swap pick for 16th & 48th? If Habs did want to move up a for specific player.

    Oilers have no 2nd.

Panthers may be retooling and want an extra 2nd?

That would be a waste of a 2nd round pick on a player who you don't know how he will develop. I would rather try and trade the 2nd round pick in a package and get a roster player that could help the team now.

I guess what I was trying to say is that if I had to choose between Laine and Huberdeau, I think i'd prefer Laine. Mostly because of his age. I agree that over the past 3 seasons, Huberdeau has been pretty dominant! Would love to see him in a Habs jersey, but what would we have to give up to get him? Would it be as costly as getting Laine?

Jets if they trade Laine it's going to be for D which is their biggest need. So unless it's Weber or Petry going the other way we don't have what they need,
