When Montreal's not in the playoffs i tend to go for the team that has the longest serving nhler who hasn't won a cup, and hope they finally win one. So this year I hoping its kovalchuk.

Oh man I want to soooooo baddddd said something buttttt I must hold back, I must

As far as Petry and Tatar are concerned, maybe Bergevin wasn't getting as good of offers as we were all hoping (or he was hoping).
No Bergevin still thinks that the team is a playoff team even if you don't add to improve the team.

Trade deadline was underwhelming based on fan demand, mine included.
But nothing surprising, and no major mistakesThe draft picks stockpile will make for an interesting draft in Montreal
The Major mistakes come July 1st.
Deadline is for none playoff team's to set themselves up for the draft. Which Bergevin has done to some extent.

14 picks this year
10 in 2021
Doesn't mean anything

So is it a 4th or 5th round pick 🤔

Kovalchuk played well under him

I would argue Dumba
is inferior to Petry regardless of age...
And the assets recieved for RD Petry flipped for RD Dumba just doesn't make sense.
We need a #1LD as we have a #2 and a number #3 LD.
I got Goodrow in my fantasy lineup!!
Haha
Romanov will be the LD Bergevin gets this off season.
Chiarot
Romanov
Mete
Will be our LD going into next season

Tampa gives up effectively two first rounders for Blake Coleman and then gives up a first rounder for Barclay Goodrow? What is Julien BriseBois thinking?
1st round picks flying around like they're 7th round picks this deadline lol

If they are turning over the team to be younger and more talented, why are they resigning Petry, makes no sense.
Totally agree that tatar and petry will be moved at the draft or deadline next year, i would have done it today with the insane prices going on.
They need skill, size and speed on this team desperately,
I can hear it now, trades are hard, i think we can contend next year with this group, injuries were a major factor, rinse / repeat
I agree gm's giving up a lot and if we're going to trade them at next year's deadline we won't get as much as we would of this year.
It would of gave us more draft picks and more cap space, in which we could of traded for a star player or sign free agent's in July to replace them.

Not sure Dumba is the answer we are looking for as our #1LD. Hes a 2nd pair guy in my books and Chairot is doing fine in that role once he trickles down... and do we need Dumba with Romanov joining the team? We need a #1 LD...
Also, expect a Pacioretty like deal for Petry if he isnt extended for another 3/4 years...
Dumba is a RD and younger, and under contract for an extra 2 more years than Petry .

Some of them could be fabulous (think Gallagher) -- but the probability is low, so it's good to have lots of picks in the late rounds.
Yeah but that's not the point I am making, some people don't like what Ottawa is doing but Montreal is doing the something. Yet people give the 👍 to Bergevin, doesn't make sense to me.
I like what they're both doing but think Bergevin should of traded Tatar and Petry today. Here's my thinking..
Look at what Ottawa got for pageau, I think Montreal could of gotten the same if not an extra 2nd for petry.
So lets say we got a 1st and two 2nd round picks for Petry from a team. Then At the draft we could then flip that 1st and a 2nd to Minnesota for Dumba .

It has been debated at length how picks outside the top 10 are like forest gump’s box of chocolates
The Sens stock piling of picks doesn’t guarantee their rebuild anymore than the CH’s
I like the Habs plan so far despite wanting Petry traded now that his value is the highest
So then whys even happy with Bergevin getting draft picks in later rounds. If picks outside top ten are like quote " forest gumps box of chocolates " could imagine what 2,4and 5 round picks are going to turn out.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAA?
They could end up with 3 lottery picks plus 4 2nd round picks. How do you not like the way they're rebuilding.
If you're not going to rebuild through Free agency, and your going to rebuild through the draft, this is the way you do it.

$5M per year. Yikes, that's risky unless he maintains this type of production.
Could that hurt Montreal when it comes time to resign Danault?

Pageau gets a six-year extension with the Islanders. That could make the deal better for them...or even worse depending on how much they paid him.
Would of loved to see him play for the habs. But for Ottawa to walk away from him and trade him, i am assuming the term will be high.

With Kreider signing an extension and with the value of the other trades it certainly seems like a missed opportunity if we don't take advantage.
He's going to trade them next deadline and end up getting less.

Moving Tatar is hardly "blowing up the core." He's the guy I'd be shipping out (assuming a competitive return).
Petry is a bigger issue because his departure would turn a mediocre blueline into a catastrophic one.
As for those persistent Price rumours, now THAT is the unicorn. A trade which - if we get back the kind of return you expect for Price - could really change the parameters of the Habs' future. I am pessimistic that it will happen, but hope it does.
When I say core I just don’t mean Tatar. But I look at him as part of this core group.
Our core group we should be looking at trading are Tatar, Petry, Price, Weber.
You can ask for a young NHL ready D prospect in exchange for Petry .
I really like the path Ottawa took to rebuild their team and think that's the path we should of took.

Seems logical. I hope we move at least one of them. But we probably won't, and already quite a few posters here and media commentators are stroking their beards and sagely nodding as if standing pat is a wise move by Bergevin 🙄
The problem is Bergevin thinks this core is good to win and won't blow it up

Given the return for Pageau, we should be moving Petry and Tatar. It looks like GM’s have gone back to the old deadline/free agency days stupidity mode.
I know that's what I was thinking, we could even get more because they got the extra year on their contracts.
-
Man habs need to come to the realization that in the next 5 years they're not going to be winning a cup, and they should be off loading guys like Petry, Tatar, Price and Weber for as many 1st round picks as they can.

We paid nothing to get him, he helped the team and scored a bunch, and we end up with a 3rd. It’s clear win, albeit a small one.
Oh I know I agree it's a win, but you can still discuss the would've ,could've , should've. Like I said water cooler talk.

So will Kulak keep 77 or go back to 17?
All of the injured players he was signed to replace are back. Liked seeing him play for the Habs.
He's the real winner a watch and his number back lol
How to pass the time between now and draft day?
