  1. I would look closely at the NYR and what they do with Lundqvist. If they end up trading him could give us an idea of what we could get for Price if it comes to the point of trading him. I know there's a age difference and contract difference but similar type players and situation.

  2. I think all this losing gets to players, I  just hope that Montreal players don't think this is the normal in Montreal. Look what it has done in Buffalo.

Plus  Domi  hasn't been able to play with the same line mates all year do to team injuries. So for me i wouldn't give up on Domi.

I'm repeating myself here - Lord knows, we wouldn't want that! - but for me the issue with Domi is a longer-range one. He is quite obviously a go-to option at C for the current group, but there seem to be structural problems in his game at centre: bad at FOs, not great in his own end. But moving him to wing is not really an option, given that his production there is consistently mediocre.

Now a contending team might be able to carry a C like as a #2 behind a real strong, stud #1C. But unless KoKo or Suzuki has it in them to be that stud #1, we will probably need a less flawed #2C if we ever want to vault ourselves into the ranks of the top teams.

So I see Domi as a transitional C. Or at least, that's what he would be if the Habs ever become more than mediocre themselves. He's one of these players who is tailor-made to excel on relatively weak teams, but will tend to get crowded out on a really strong one.

This doesn't mean we should get rid of him in the short term. Not at all. And who knows, maybe he will learn to fix those weaknesses in his game. I'm just saying that I don't see him as part of a medium-term plan to contend.

But those are all things that can be worked on with development.  I wouldn't give up on him also, but out of our centers he's the one giving you the best trade value. I guess his this year's Pacioretty.

Bergevin is such an idiot.  He didnt get a top 10.pick for Scandella.  What a moron.  Fire him.  No plan or direction.

Wow don't get your panties in a bunch..... I was just joking around because we have so many 2nd round picks.

Just out of curiosity you related to Bergevin 🤔

Most prospects take more than one year (after being drafted) to mature. Goalies and defencemen even more so. That's why they are called "prospects". :)

That said, it looks like this year's draft has nine very strong players to choose from, so at the pace the Habs are playing now we should get a very good prospect in the first round.

Are those players all in the 2nd round of the draft? Just wondering 🤔

Can the Habs string together ANOTHER 8 game losing streak? Should reach 6 on Wednesday, and the previous 3 games against Ottawa went to OT, so it's not unreal that they could lose to OTT again.

Sigh. What a miserable season. It'd be easier if there was more than, say 1 bright spot. Suzuki has looked good. Nobody in the AHL dominating, the team there looks to miss the playoffs. No playoffs for the Habs. It's a bit sad that the only thing to cheer is that they have a lot of draft picks, but when the people choosing them have failed for such a long time, why cheer that?

Well they can't string together a wining streak that's for sure.

Youre probably better off waiting to the draft to trade 2 2mds for a first.  Then you only move up if the guy you like is available

If Montreal offers teams Kovalchuk and a 2nd round pick for a 1st, they don’t need to wait tell the draft. If they wait tell the draft Kovalchuk value becomes useless.

The optics on scandella were that he was available for a lot less 6 weeks ago too....  its the same optics IMO.

Bergevin just got a 2nd for scandella. If he gets Bergevin a 2nd, then kovalchuk gets him a 1st.

This is for all the Bergevin lovers on here well done Bergevin 👍

  9. I just honestly don’t feel that there’s a plan that’s in place that’s being stuck to.

case in point if this team is out of the playoff picture by the all star break he goes out and make trades for a playoff push.

if there’s a play to go young and build through the draft, we shouldn’t be thinking playoffs.  If we happen to be close or make it, that should be look at as a bonus. But the end goal should be the draft and setting us up for a better percentage of getting a really talented player.

I just don't see that happening here. With this reset we probably only have one top prospect in Caulfield. I don't count the others because we have all ready had them in our system.

I'd be very curious to see some source for those 2 statements.

Its on record saying he wanted to draft Morgan Rielly but was told to go with galchenyuk. On his first year as GM

McCarron was all him though, that's when he was looking for that big gritty center. They could of probably had him in the 3rd round didn't need to draft him with the first pick.

So..... why don’t we throw 10 different negative angles that contradict one another out there and then maybe one of them will stick.

The plan this season was to make the playoffs. MB didn’t do enough in the offseason to improve our team.

Whether or not it’s true, that’s all that needed to be said. We were not rebuilding this year so all that trade Price and Weber talk is moot.

Lesson all I want from Bergevin is to pick a path for this team and not always leave it in limbo.

He says the goal is to be a playoff team. But then does nothing to improve the team's odds in making the playoffs. The only time he does anything is mid season when the season is in jeopardy.

Just pick a path and do it right.

Tinordi and Beaulieu havbe to be blamed on Gauthier, if we blame the GM

McCarron, MB has admitted, was a rookie mistake where he trusted the scouting team.

He also blamed the scouting on the galchenyuk pick. Just like he blame's injuries, and his players on not playing up to their potential for reasons not making the playoffs. Oh and the fact it's hard to make trades to improve the team and the only way you can get a elite player is by drafting them. Blah, blah, blah........ Same old same old.

Pick a direction and go with it, that's all I have to say. If you as a gm want to build the team through the draft that's fine. But you need to go all in with the rebuild, you trade Price, Weber, Tatar, Byron, Petry get as much draft picks and prospects and NHL ready prospects as you can. Don't worry about playoffs.

If you're going to worry about playoffs then this isn't no rebuild and as a gm you should of upgrade this team in the off season to improve it from last year. Which you didn't.

Either upgrade to improve the team or blow up the old cord and rebuild .

Just pick a path and stop this bubble team BS that's been going on the last 8 years.

The only thing guarantee in 4 years is price will be older and weber will be close to retirement. And guys like petry, Tatar and Byron might not even be with the team since their contracts will be coming to a end by then.

1st.... 3 years....   this will be the third straight season of missing.   #fakestats

2nd.... my point is that one can criticize the bad and praise the good.  When someone cant talk about both good and bad in an organization, then bias shows and i cant take the critiques seriously.  There are positives and negatives in every organization in the league, but some only see negatives no matter where they look.

Comparing things to.the ballard years is just showing that H29 hasnt given up his title.

Who's comparing what 🤔. I just don't like how he has handle the big club. I didn't compare him to anyone.

Its funny because you discredit trying to end up with a better draft pick because you say draft picks Rarely turn out.

But then you credit Bergevin for his drafting. So if as you say draft picks rarely turn out who knows what this club will be in 5 years. The only thing for sure is Price would probably be past his prime and Weber will be at the end of his career.
