  1. Watch when Bergevin has his year end press conference this is what he will bring up

    1) he believes this is a playoff team and that's always the goal to make the playoffs.

    2) then he will blame the injuries to key players like Gallagher and Armia, Byron

    3) then he will throw players under the bus that under preformed, Kotkaniemi, domi, just to name a few. He will say they need to be better and take the next step.

    4) then he will do it to price and say if the team is to have any success price needs to be better.

Pretty much the same BS he has said the last 5 years. Pretty much pointing the finger at everyone / everything but himself.

There is a difference between an excuse and an analysis

Not having enough talent to be able to overcome all the forward injuries, as well as price not being at his best is an analysis, not an excuse.

Its an escape goat excuse, that has been used the past what 5 years now. no one blames Depth or lack of talent or management........ But everyone blames injuries and the guy making 10mil.

In today's NHL you can't win with just 1 elite player its just to deep of a league. You need depth and balance from top to bottom in your organization. Something Montreal has never had.

One thing this team is not, is soft. They play with jam and heart. The problem is that they're not good enough, or at least, haven't been with all the injuries and defensive lapses. Plus Price has been meh.

It's almost instinctive for some North American fans to immediately blame lack of 'heart' and 'toughness' for losing. Usually it's talent.

Same old excuses with this team the last 4 years.

We just played and lost to a team that has had just about the same if not more injuries this year. Plus lost their top offensive player and goaltender to Free Agency and they're still in a playoff spot.

When i say the team is soft,

    Ill go with exhibit A,

    blaming Price on goal #3,

both Tatar and Gallagher i believe had the puck by the blue line with a chance to clear the zone on that shift, they were soft on the puck and didn't get it out, then the goal was scored

Yeah but people don't look on what caused the goal. People just like to blame Price for not stopping it.

  5. Why is everyone acting like this is new. Montreal gets pushed around very easily when playing team's that are bigger and faster then they are. Montreal has never been a physical team,  We're built around the transition game. I don't think Montreal is built for the long-haul of an full season and playoffs, which is why we go on slides and can't recover from them like top NHL team's do.

On one of the last two games he was being pushed off the puck, pinned to the boards.

I like the kid, but some nights he needs to be sheltered against bigger faster opposition who target him

Sounds like most of the soft players on this team not just Mete lol.

The Habs havent lost 8 in a row since the 20s.  Didnt even do it once in the pitiful Houle years.  Somehow they did it twice in this season... so yeah stranger things have already happened.

The talk of tanking for a top 10 pick is just fanciful.  It doesnt work like that.  These are pro athletes who arent going to quit.  Its not like you can have a team meeting and ask them to stop trying and just quit and the gm doesnt have the time to make enough trades to strip talent from the team to make them that bad this year (and even if he did they wouldnt have the depth habs89 seeks for a decade afterwards)... so i dont see that.

The only thing to do is to see if you go on a nice run over the 12 games... and if you dont.. then sell assets at the deadline.  Its not the mindset of most fans who want instant gratification, but we do have to be patient for 2.5 weeks and just watch the team play.

Its not tanking when you're already out of a playoff spot.

Tanking is when you do it right out of the gate.

Their is no point of a playoff push , because theirs no chance we're making it. So what's better option play for a pick 15-20, or play for a pick 5-12?

If Commandant and Nihilz would please just drop the gloves and get it over with...

    Now on topic...

I feel that with 12 games left to deadline we really need to wait on any trades until we see how those games play out. 18 out of 24 points would change a lot of our opinions. 8 of 24 would solidify them. Team is healthy now. Let's see what we really have here.

I still think we should be trying to get a top 10 lottery pick in the draft rather than try for something that where not going to get which is a playoff spot.

I have said from day 1 which got me ripped For it, the problem is we just don't have the depth in the organization to be a contender. When Drouin got hurt I said Bergevin better make a trade or we're going to be in trouble. He didn't and we lost 8 in a row twice.

The good terms have the depth in the organization to over come key injuries and still make the playoffs. All we do every time is tail spin out of control.

I think they are different types of players, Caulfield more of a sniper, Gaudreau is a better skater and more of a dangler. I sure hope Caulfield works out, he sure can shoot puck the puck.

Yeah if caulfield was taller he would of been top 5 pick

Those are pretty darn good 2nd round picks.  Hopefully the Habs can do the same thing with one of their 2nd round picks. That's why I keep cheering for Chicago to lose, woud like that pick to be high in the 2nd round.

Yeah hopefully some players fall out of the 1st round and we can get them in the 2nd.

Agree, I didn't suggest the Habs give up that much,  I suggested the price for Byfield would likely be less than the price suggested for Lafreniere. Let's say the Habs have the 10th pick. would you give up that pick and Caulfield to move up to no 2 to get Byfield?  Would that be enough?

Caulfield will be our version of Gaudreau, I wouldn't trade him at all.

Yup. A lot of teams probably regret passing on Getzlaf, was the 19th player taken in the 2003 draft and I would argue the best player from that draft.

That was a deep draft , Weber and Bergeron went in the 2nd round.
