If we got what we paid for always then Price would have a .927 SV%, a .915 in high danger a GAA of under 3 and a couple shut outs and we would be fighting BOS for the division lead because of it. Considering our offense continues the way it has. Instead, let's All blame it on the lack of a quality LD instead.

Kincaid will definitly clear waivers and Primeau will come up and in the short term push Price to be F**%ing better and maybe light a fire under his A$$ because we paid for a superstar goalie that should be able to shut the %*&#ing door in a close 1-0 game in the 3rd to end a historical slide that could end our season before Christmas! Let's not kid ourselves.

Kincaid was suppose to be a huge upgrade and he hasnt delivered at all. This waive is just as much a shot at Price not being able to get the job done as it is Kincaid not delivering the goods when called upon

Theirs only so much someone can do when it comes to turn over, breakaways, 2 on 1's, and being unable to clear the puck from the front of the net. Are some of the goals on our goaltending yes, but not all over them.  If Price makes 3 saves but they score on the 4 shot because his team cant clear the zone is that on him?

    Who for who?

Trade what guys for whom exactly?

    What is "right"?

If you're going to rebuild, that means you're planning on being a lottery pick team over the next 4 years. So you don't need You high priced guys like weber and price and petry. Trade them get draft picks and young NHL ready prospects.

If you're just retooling that means you keep those guys but go out get them help. None of this do nothing approach that's been going on.

Get NHL Proven guys that are a good fit for CJ system.

Do you want to float in space or do you want to reach mars? I for one want to reach mars.

I hope not.  He's not exactly playing well in Laval lately and if this losing streak keeps going, nothing like putting a 20-year-old in net and asking him to snap a 10-game losing streak in his NHL debut.  That could backfire in a whole lot of ways.

    A couple of points:

    1) That still could very well happen.  This is a very short-term assignment by all accounts (think a week or two just to get a few starts and get into a bit of a rhythm).

    2) Why do you seem to derive so much enjoyment from anything that's negative?  Dare I ask who your realistic backup goalie preference was over the summer?

To me its not the goaltending its the team in front. Like I said in an other post, You get what you pay for. You don't want NHL Proven guys and you want young guys, this is the product you get.

I don't, I just bring it back up For no reason.  I get ripped by people who think these are all great moves by Bergevin.....then they don't work out.  Its kinda of like I told you so.

I am just tired of this floating in space that we seem to be doing over the last 6 years. I want a  cup, and I want us to be a team that is looked at as a top 5 team.

So if we're aren't rebuilding get our guys NHL talent to help them win.

If we're rebuilding then trade these guys go young and do it right.

    No more floating in space

The idea of a deal involving some configuration of Price+  and Hall/Blackwood *is* intriguing, though. Highly unlikely but a fun parlour game scenario.

Well NJ needs goaltending and a replacement for hall so how about

    To NJ

    Price and Tatar

    To habs

    Hall and Blackwood

This is a confidence, shock and awe type of disintegration, the structure in its principle is good, we play a new age, quick transition game. Players know where they should be players know who should be back checking, who should be supporting. Problem is they are all playing the game like there is a hand grenade on the ice, every decision becomes a rogue decision, the thought process cannot be understood in this context by anyone, coaches, the players themselves, people watching.

The execution is not there in any of the structure because they are mentally shot, they need a shot in the arm, a lucky win, something to shake the mental state of this entire team. I was expecting some growing pains when they began this quick rebuild for a couple of years, but this is well below what this team should be, they are supposed to be a bubble team, not a lottery one.

Hey you Get what you pay for. You want young players over NHL Proven players. You want to save cap space. This is the product you get.

On D, I really think the issue is the personnel. Can we get Gostisbehere? Or Vatanen? Sadly we'll probably have to overpay in our current predicament but it might be necessary to do that.

Well we got 3 nhlers on our D , the rest should be developing in the AHL. That tells you all you need to know.

There is no team in the NHL that can or will take Price and that contract on. None... zero... zilch.

You are absolutely incorrect.  He is un-tradeable currently.  We would have to give him away or retain huge salary and he would have to OK the deal.

And Yes, he turned it around in Mid December LY and finished strong. But, it was to late. If he keeps it up, this year will be lost as well!

He was horrible ALL season the year before that. And the season before that he finished the season horribly.

So again, I am personally of the opinion hes un-tradeable at this point and will have to really catch fire to be tradeable. At that point we will all ant to keep him.

    To Toronto

Price  We eat 2mil of his contract each year

    To habs

    Nylander & Anderson

You don't think Toronto would do that trade. Price on that team gives them a chance to win the cup.

    To buffalo

    Price

    To habs

    Ristolainen  & Hutton

You don't think buffalo would do that. They need goaltending they would take that trade easy.

NJ would love to have Price, Calgary would love to have Price, Vancouver would love to have Price.

His play has been bad,  but not all on him. Its the team in front of him too.

    Price is untradeable!!!!!!!

Price isnt going nowhere. He has played himself right out of top goalie in the world status... His contract is quite the albatross.

He isnt stealing games and if he does they are few and far between. He is not even close to the being the player who won the Hart and earned those millions. THIS is bigger than our need for a #1 LD  IMHO

Don't kidd yourself their would be a lot of contending teams that need goaltending would love Price.

Would the devils part with Blackwood/hall for say, Price, one of our top prospects (poehling, romanov or brook?) and a second?

Or do they value Blackwood too highly

I think they would be interested in Tatar to replace some of halls scoring. Plus he's under contract.  So Tatar would be a starting point in trade talks.

Yes, making a 19 year old second year player, a 20 year old rookie and a 21 year old defenceman... 3 of those 5 new leaders.

    Good plan!!

    I can't believe i didn't see this before.

and when BG changed the group, he kept Markov, he acquired Gionta, Gomez and Cammalleri, he had Hamrlik, Spacek, ... he had Plekanec... he acquired Moen, there were veterans around.

Thats 3 Cup winners (4 rings) and a lot of games of experience he had.

I guess your  way is always right, lets just keep the Path we're on and do nothing. continue to finish just outside a playoff spot and pick from 15-20.  Then when the young guys are ready to make the NHL, just in time for Price, Weber and petry to retire and we end up with nothing for them.

That makes a so much better plan.

Because it worked so will with Markov, lets do it again.

  11. 11 minutes ago, Commandant said:

Trade everyone.  Have no veterans.. Go all youth, and fail miserably as there are no leaders.

We've seen this and its taken edmonton over a decade to get out of the depth spiral they caused by doing this.

    How are their no leaders????

    Danault

    Domi

    Kotkaniemi

    Mete

    Suzuki

Become your new group of leaders

You forget when BG change over the leader group Price, Pk, Gallagher, Pacioretty they were all young players.

  12. Management has to choose is it a rebuild or false hope retool .

I for one would go full rebuild. Have the new core of guys be

    Danault

    Domi

    Kotkaniemi

    Mete

    Suzuki

    Poehling

    Fleury

    Prime

    Armia

    Lehkonen

Keep these guys build the team around them.

Trade  Weber, Price, Gallagher, Petry, Byron, Tatar

Get what you can for those guys. Completely change the atmosphere/voices in the dressing room.

    I disagree on many levels.

I disagree that playing Cousins an extra 3 mins makes him  THAT less efficient.  He's not 34 years old  about to retire.

I disagree that giving the extra 2 mins on the PP to Kotkaniemi makes him run out of gas at what, 19 years old.

I disagree that giving an extra 2 mins on the PK to Suzuki makes him run out of gas at what, 19 years old.

Most of the mental break downs I've seen this past week concernent defensemen anyway.  Bad pinching.  TONS of bad pinching.

Well the 6 game losing streak and many break downs say otherwise.

  14. 11 minutes ago, JoeLassister said:

KK basically took Drouin's minutes on the PP.  (why Weal is still getting 1st PP minutes is beyond me though)

You have  Weal and Hudon full time instead of Drouin and Byron.

And then you have Cousins playing 3 more minutes/game  than what he used to when Drouin and Byron were on the ice.

And Suzuki with some PK time to replace Byron's.

I Don't think that  #1 and #4 are a big deal, although Weal on the PP is killing me.

#2 hurts a lot. It's a HUGE drop of talent.

#3, meh.  He's not a big problem IMO.

He has no other option. Theirs a big deal in talent, 1st line and 4th line talent is different. Plus you're playing more minutes then you are use to playing which means you run. Out of gas faster. That's why theirs so many break downs on the defensive side of their game.
