    • injury date is irrelevant
    • markov's surgery dec 8th, 2010
    • full recovery from cadaver reconstruction (dead person's achilles tendon) 6-8 mths

gorges & markov's first surgery ( he returned after just over 5 months)

    • full recovery from patella tendon reconstruction (your own knee cap tendon) 10-12 months

    (markov's 2nd surgery)

    • full recovery from semi-tendinosis reconstruction (your own hamstring tendon) 12-14 months

-hamstring is best option (most stable, 150 x stronger then actual acl, not as elasticity) but is a horrible option for athletes as your hamstring becomes suspect because the tendon does not regenerate and compromises your full stride when running

-patella is best option for athletes without the option of a cadaver because the hamstring is not put at risk and success rate is great. more then 100 x stronger but even less elasticity

-cadaver is what most pro athletes use because it uses none of your own body to fix so athletes wont be liable anywhere else but the knee. recovery time is 6 months because of the "ligamentization" of the tendon and then waiting for bone growth and muscle growth. it is a short term fix usually lasting 10-15 yrs

markov's lucky as both tears where clean and there was zero damage done to the knee outside of acl (no bruised bones, meniscus, ligaments or muscle tears) my estimated return date was nov 17 which is a road game prior to saturday night at the bell centre but this delay in florida could put him a further week back so for me it is as early as nov 17- nov 24!

  1. i definitely think of all these guys its only grabovski who would of fit in really good with this team as his play is fast paced and skilled... PG definitely would want him back....

maybe BG throws mcdonagh NY's way because of the fleecing we pulled on him in the kovy deal...

think about fantasy football for a second and if you constantly get burned trading with another team sooner or later you'll stop

alex kovalev for absolutely didly squat

gomez, pyatt for higgens, valetenko (russia) mcdonagh

    definetly an evening out deal

sather " bob i need mcdonagh back"

    bob "cant do it glen"

sather"WTF man, i gave u kovy for nothing"

bob "ok glen,... but you owe me!!"

its kind of like charielli tossing burke a bone for the really heavy price he paid for kessel

martin: never wanted him fired after 8 games

    i just questioned his

    a) thinking on the PP but i guess it was "pearn"

    b) his use of talent pool

    c) constant line juggling act...

    d) motivational tactics when in a slump

and pointed out his career stats..... nothing's changed for me after this win except we finally got some bounces (simmonds empty net miss) timely scoring and clutch saves!!!

  2. Diaz was at fault for the Jagr goal. Gill was back with Jagr, but Diaz was way up at the point. Lost his man. Weber made the two biggest mistakes in the game. Lost jvr and gave him a one on none and give away for a glorious chance in front. If Price doesn't bail him out, it's a

whole new game. Gill faced the Jagr Giroux line all night. If Diaz and Weber did, this game is a loss. Cole played the same minutes, you just noticed because he tried tonight. Montreal won tonight because of bounces. They lost against Calgary, Buffalo, and Florida because the biunces went against them. Your constant agenda with youth, Martin and Gomez is getting a little redundant. No offense. Gill was back with Jagr when the goal was scored. My mistake, but Diaz was up at the blueline covering the left point.

i thought it was moen who took off from down low with jagr to chase the puck.... which in turn left jagr open!

  3. Glen Healy knows nothing!!

cole wasn't used more tonight as suggested (18 shifts 13+ minutes).......

the difference tonight was he was playing like he wants more shifts, more minutes! going hard to the net with the puck as well as SOG and throwing the body....... kudos eric cole! welcome to the hot bed that is MOntreal! it will always be a love hate relationship!

  4. subban led team in TOI and shifts

    price .95 SV%

    cole led team SOG

    pac 3 big points

we looked to have some stability in the lines over the last 2 games outside of minor adjustments instead of full line over hauls...

a tweak here and there is what we needed.. jacques got the message i think and wont be so quick to constantly abandon ship (i hope)

pk running the PP from the right like in belleville and hamilton... if he can think to pass before shoot from there we might be on to something!

here's hoping Boston is the necessary tonic to get us really rolling!!

  5. he is definitely on schedule... he used a part of his own body to fix his knee (patella tendon) so it takes extra months to get back... he hasn't even reached 11 months... hang tight! everybody but fans and media knew he would not be ready for the start of the season... no way after 2 surgeries in a 6 month span

  6. I'd try him on his off point.... the only time he has ever been tried on the RP was when we put Tanguay at the Left point and asked Tanguay to be the QB and Markov the main shooter.

Markov would still QB the PP, he'd just do it from the other side of the ice.... and Subban would be the main shooter, with Markov taking the occasional shot.

The setup would be similar to what we had with Wiz/Subban only Markov is LH instead.

Plenty of teams use LH/RH on their off sides to set up dual one timers on the PP and use it successfully too. In fact its probably the more preferred traditional option to having two guys who shoot the same way.

If it doesn't work, you can move to Markov-Emelin later, bu I'd want to see it before saying it wont work.

the Tanguay experiment failed miserably and markov was back to were he's best!!! picking players out with super accurate passes to the point man/ cross ice to the circle (ala kovy) and then down the boards to set up the cross crease pass....

if it ain't broke don't fix it! let markov qb the first wave and maybe the habs should think of keeping subban on the right to QB the 2nd unit with weber's one timer on the left like he did so successfully in Belleville and amazingly with my Bulldogs!!!

i just want our Beloved Habs to win and shake this funk there in!!

obviously Markov wont be back until Thurs Nov 17 against the islanders so we could be out of contention by then if we don't get a minimum 6 of 8 points this week, so this could all be for nothing!!!

  7. Upon the return of Markov, I put him on the first unit and try him with Subban... and if that doesn't work Emelin.

There is room to change a lot when he returns.

This draft looks amazing right now.

unless you want them to play pass between each other it will be hard for them to set up a one timer unless you put them both on there off point.... but why would anyone in there right mind wanna move markov when he is one of if not the best PP "QB" in the league from that left point... just put anyone with an accurate left handed slapper and were golden!! he has had a revolving door at that right point and they've all succeded!!!

    i stand with markov- emelin// subban-weber

remember: a qb and a shooter!! same handed!

  8. I agree that Darche shouldn't be on the PP ahead of those guys, I just don't think Cole is the answer.

The PP units, should be IMO.

    Kostitsyn - Pleks - Cammy

    Subban - Weber

Kosty has always been good on the PP in the role of digging pucks out of corners and standing in front of the net. This has been his role on the Habs PP as far back as 2007-08 playing with Kovalev and Pleks.

    Second unit.

    Pacioretty - DD/Eller - Gionta

    Diaz - Emelin

Go with whichever centre is doing better that night and the last two nights, its been Eller by far.

Darche is not a PP answer, but neither is cole IMO.

If you insist on using Pleks on the point, put Gio on the first unit, and both centres on the second.

i like it all but i believe we need to use 2 same handed players on the point so i'd go

    kosty(gionta)left plex(DD) down low camm(pacioretty) half boards

    subban(for 2 minutes)Left weber(diaz) Right

    upon the return of markov

    markov--emelin 2 lefties

  9. Martin said: "Look at Cole's production last year" Yeah well, he still has more PPG than Darche.

As you said, it makes no sense to sign a player big bucks just to play him on the 4th line. The only logical explanation I see is that they give him time to learn the complicated system the Habs play. But, by the results so far this season, that wonderful system doesnt work.

cole was on a line with DD and pacioretty... he picked up a shift on the fourth line after serving the to many men.. but was still on the line with DD

DD- 15:42 21 shifts (a few on the PK)

    pacioretty -13:55 19 shifts

cole-11:08 18 shifts (served both too many men)

  10. Cole has not learned JM's system defensively at this point. His defensive zone coverage is brutal. Just look at the OT goal.

He was very good in the offensive zone tonight though.... but he's gonna need better D to get JM's ice time.

not sure i picked up on that OT goal being cole's fault.. i thought with gionta covering the only point (phaneuf) and gill following lilles... it was diaz's job to come across andcut off grabo from coming out front when grabo got the puck but he seemed to be zoning out the winger on the other side which should of been cole's man.

that zoning by diaz put cole in no mans land from the left point and forced him down all the way to grabo who came in with his backside first... all cole could do was cross check him which he did! kudos to grabo for the excellent play down low

"i think thats how it should of been defended"

my question is why did jacques martin put gionta out there with cole in OT??? 2 wingers??

neither are a centermen and they haven't played a single game together on a line over 7 games nor partnered up in the so called groups split up during pre season

    1)plex -camm

    2) eller- kosty

    3) DD- cole

    4)plex- gionta

    5)eller- kosty

should of been the OT lines over 5 minutes

    shootout

    camm--gionta-- cole

instead he comes out with plex--camm and follows up with gio and cole?? instead of eller/kosty (who played great)

not pointing fingers but these are big time mistakes

11 minutes is not even close to enough for cole (4minutes served in penalties= 2 shifts 2 minutes)... pacioretty 14min

also... the Powerplay and PK ruin us again!

its like turnovers in football.... u loose that battle 9 times out of 10 u lose the game

FLA, PHilly, BOS,BOS coming up this week

  11. we finished the period nicely... hopefully it carries into the 3rd.... but plex has to bury that 1on1 with gunner and we need to capitalize on 2nd chances... it seems we get a single shot and lose possesion... no 2nd shots!

cole is in fact skating hard and so is AK... JM needs to recognize that and ride them... he needs to ride the guys skating!!!

20 min to get this season going in the right direction good luck boys!

  12. My keys to victory.....

    a) don't hold our sticks so tight!!! said PK Subban

    b) make a few tape to tape passes and show some skilled play!!! said Michael Cammalleri

    c) Stick to the system!! said Tomas Plekanec

    d) put your life on the line!! said josh Gorges

    d) trust your teammates! said Hal Gill

    e) keep possession on the PP! said Brian Gionta

    f) watch that glove side!!! said carey price

    g) stabilize the lines!!! said jacques Martin

and go Get the First GOAL and WIN against Toronto!!! says the hearts of all habs men

  13. Biggest issue with the team continues to be Forward Support in the defensive zone. If the forwards were better in their own end it would solve everything. If we backchecked better, we'd even end up scoring more goals.

Seems counterintuitive? I agree... but hear me out.

Think about the type of goals this Habs team has scored at Even Strength over the last 2 years. What do you see? Do you see a team cycling the puck in the offensive zone? Do you see a team winning board battles and then setting something up? Or do you see a team that creates through the use of odd man rushes? 2 on 1s, 3 on 2s, and other quick strike, counter attack style plays.

I know what I see, and its the odd man rush that creates a huge part of our 5 on 5 offence.

This is a team where 5 of our 9 most talented fwds are 5'10 or shorter, but are speedy. With such a lineup you can't count on a puck possession game. You can't count on playing a strong forecheck and cycle style of game. You just don't have enough big forwards to do it, when 2 guys on every line lack size.

So how do you create offence? By using that speed in odd man rushes.

So how do you create odd man rushes? Simple.... you need to force the other team to turn over the puck... either have a takeaway, or block a shot and pick up the loose puck, pick off a bad pass, win puck battle, etc....

So in this way better defence.... the forwards supporting our defencemen (what they haven't done at all this year), would help this team not only give up less goals, it would actually help us create more chances at the other end.

This is how the 2001 New Jersey Devils were the highest scoring team in the NHL.... this is how Martin's Ottawa teams scored a lot of goals.... this was how we reached the final four to years ago.... this is how we took the first two games in Boston last year... and this is what we need to get back to doing if we want to be successful.

i agree that counter attack offense much like the tactic used in soccer has played to our advantage... but it also leads to alot less chances that you need to capitalize on and our team is shooting blanks...

i point to 4 plays in our last 2 games... pacioretty getting fed by AK and he walks in from the left side on miller and shouts wide.. plex with a wide open net, miller on the ground and he fires the puck along the ice into his chest! then you have darche's breakaway from pretty much are blue line and firing a shot directly at fleury and coles 1 timer in the slot to break the ice on his career here as prime examples of a team that is in fact "sqeezing their sticks" (subban's quote) since the calgary game!

we didnt play bad against the leafs or colorado but didnt play 60 minutes = 1point

our offense was firing well in a game the jets werent ready for = 2pts

calgary and pitt were outright losses in my opinion =00

buffalo was a sure W if only we had some execution =0

so we've played well enough 7 of 12 points but only have 3!!

  14. line combos are a major major factor with this team whether it be PK , PP or 5 on 5... martin is clueless to developing lines, his system of linear hockey is the simplest of all systems in the NHL and its the least exhausting to play! so whats the problem! this system is taught at the minor league level of back checking forwards, collapsing to the net and have your wingers on the high boards to chip the puck out we were playing this system when i was a peewee...

-JM's system cannot and will not work with a struggling goalie.... and guys Carey Price is fighting the puck right now!

    - yesterday Pacioretty missed maybe 1 shift if that... he took 24 shifts in the game.. he did not miss the most of any period!

    - an article on Kostitsyn comes out on tsn crediting him with strong play so far... JM responds to it by giving AK 19 shifts good for the 4th lowest on the team enquivst (9) darche(14) COLE(18) AK (19). that's good coaching? 37 shifts between the 2 and 36 for darche and moen??

    - gomez played 4 shifts before going down... then we moved eller to center so TOI and shifts should of increased for our scoring wingers and DD, plex and eller.

Cole has a chance to log heavy minutes and Martin can lean on Kosty more but he gives those minutes to moen and darche

JM is not a career winner as stated in my previous post and last nights handling of his assets proved it more.

pacioretty-DD-kostitsyn should of all played close to 24 shifts and +20 minutes together none on the PK (5 PP minutes and 15+ even strength)

we played 12 minutes on the PK 10 min on the PP

    38min even strength

instead of moen taking 22 shifts and darche 14 (36) both should of split time on the 3rd line and the 4th line should of been scratched during enquivst absence its that simple... when enquivst returned we should of continued the 4th line with our scoring forwards (gio, pacio, cole, kosty) all picking up extra shifts to make up the minutes! not a constant juggling act which resulted in zero stability no chemistry and a horrible product on ice!

if andrei markov doesnt return soon to save our PP and season for that matter JM will be out and all us arm chair coaches and GM's will have our pitch forks ready for the next guy!!

i wont complain anymore because it is doing none of us any good. we need to concentrate on the leafs who havent been playing to well over the last 3 games. they should have easily walked away with 0 of 6 pts but managed 3. we on the other hand should of had 4 of 6 but managed 1!

  15. The injury to Carey Price's glove hand in the 2008 Playoffs.

After a marvelous first round (including 2 shutouts) against Boston, Price hurt his hand against Philly and then couldn't make a save glove side. The flyers exploited this and took us out in 5 games.

The team never admitted he was hurt, but reporters noticed that Price changed his catching mitt after game 2 of the series and the new glove had triple the padding of the old glove. Halak also started game 4 of the series after playing only 6 regular season games.

Here is the play i think he hurt his hand.... watch Umberger and him both go for the puck at the same time and umberger's stick gets his glove.

    <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/L8c7cvp0QHc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

it wasnt price's hand but chris higgins 5 missed breakaways our million posts and our forwards ability to make Biron look like a world beater for 5 games... funny enough we made leighton look the same way with a completly different set of forwards in our following series v philly!!

  16. Awful, awful game tonight.... Pens dominated.

Tonight, in a road game... we finally saw the effect of being forced to play all those defencemen is. The Habs can hide a rookie pairing in a home game with last change. Tonight, on the road, they couldn't. We desperately need some experienced D back in the lineup. You just cant be running three guys who combine for ~50 games of experience.

The forward lines.... thats what happens when 2 guys get hurt, yeah they were all messed up, but shit happened because of the injuries.

That said, even if your line is screwed up and you have no offensive chemistry, its no excuse to not backcheck and miss assignments like the forwards did.

he started the game with line changes... injuries came after the fact... martin essentially mess up what he should of been building on over 2 games against col and buffalo.

    sorry for flooding the thread!

  17. i dont want gauthier out!!! nor do i want jaques martin out!

however, upon further review of JM"s credentials.

    a) as a coach/ GM in his entire career he has 1 championship!!! a memorial cup in 1986!!! one!!!

    b) he's never played in the NHL

    c) he has an all-time losing record (47%) win percentage

    d) coached the blues, nordiques (then COL for a part season prior to 96 cup), florida and now montreal

trust me i haven't lost composure i just know in the eastern conference getting 3 of a possible 12 points to start the season is really bad! we need to win 3 in a row starting saturday!!! the bleeding has to stop!

  18. 2nd unit should be gio on the left boards for kosty but playing similar to cammi on the 1st unit.. gomez in for plex... pacioretty in cammi's spot but should be possessing the puck like kosty would and 2 def manning the point

PK plays the full 2 minutes as markov would but doesnt rush the puck end to end but actually makes a pass to get it in the zone and diaz and weber split... please no more rushing or dumping it in to nobody!
