You're kidding, right? There's a segment of the Montreal press, small but very vocal, who constantly lament the lack of Quebecois/French players of the team. They were salivating over the prospect of landing LeCavalier but had to settle for Briere. They were trumpeting the talents of Guilliaume LaTendresse until even they had to admit he wasn't going to lead them back to the promised land.

Briere took less money to sign with Philly the last time, and all of a sudden he snaps up the offer he rejected before? That should speak volumes about what the rest of the league thought about his play the last year or two.

Sorry, but one signing does not make anyone an elite executive.

Dryden was a name on the organizational chart, a PR prop and maybe an occasional sounding board, and Pat Quinn never wanted to deal with him.
