  1. MY HEART GOES OUT TO LEAF FANS EVERYWHERE.
  2. CATACLAW PLEASED Great game. I was steaming mad after the Johnson incident and the ensuing BS, but Lats' first and the solid play made up for it. Yay for Special K winning us the shootout! I vote Latendresse remain on the 1st line for a 2nd game, having proved himself quite valuable. He's no Higgins, but he'll do as a replacement, i predict.
  3. NOOOOOOOOOOOOooOOOooOOOooOOOooOOOooOOOooOOOoo!!!
  4. Got 4 people to sign it so far Working on getting a few more. I usually frown on online petitions, but this one is a truly noble cause. Oh, what the heck
  5. He plays dirty and he has the nerve to object fiercely when players give him a taste of his own medicine. Only player in the entire NHL i truly "hate".
  6. Chris Higgins Same height (6'0"), same side, same age, similar personalities kinda Higgins FTW
  7. Noooooo! Higgins! It won't be the same without, but oh well. Good opportunity for Latendresse. Latendresse is progressing nicely. If he can nearly score goals playing 8 minutes a game, maybe getting twice the ice time will finally let him net his first goal in the NHL tomorrow. Go Lats!
  8. Running joke, bebehabs Habs need a *big* win every game!
  9. It's a simple topic : Who are your favorite Habs and least favorite Habs? We often put a lot of emphasis on our favorite players, but it might be interesting to discuss our least favorites. (Not to be negative but merely to explore a different topic) My top 5 favorites: 1. Koivu (i could write a book on why this guy rocks, i don't think i need to explain myself) 2. Higgins (koivu jr. see above) 3. Rivet (he's solid, a great leader, a real team guy) 4. Souray (see rivet) 5. Bégin (teamwork, intensity, motivation and all-around nice guy, what's not to like?) My least 3 favorites: 1. Niinimaa - I desperately want to like him, but so far it's just not happening. Between sloppy play and the "guarantee"... nope, just not happening so far. 2. Plekanec - Never been a huge fan, but his goal in tonight's game makes me like him a little bit more 3. Perezhogin - He's a great player, and i'm impressed with his play so far this year, but - and i'm not too sure why - i just don't like him all that much. I certainly don't hate him, i always cheer for Zhogs, but... he's not among my favorites.
  10. Great game! Attaboy Rivet! Great solid effort. Props to Higgins : no point this game, but a solid presence as always. Props to Bégin, Latendresse : solid again. Props to everyone but Niinimaa, who was blah tonight. o/~ I feel good ~ I knew that i would now o/~
  11. Alright, justinb, i'm taking you on. You've crossed the line. (Black = your post, red = my reply) What Makes Saku Koivu so much better? I dont care if hes a small guy... Ok...so hes small..is that why people like him? People like Koivu because he's a veteran player with huge intensity, motivation, drive, passion and leadership. His battle with cancer is a good example of his determination. He's an inspiration to his fellow players. I'm not making this up, just listen to the interviews and see what other Habs have to say about their captain. He's a small guy, he knows he's outmuscled, but what he lacks in size he makes up for threefold in sheer drive and skill. He cant stickhandle like kovalev...he cant hold people off like kovalev..hell..Kovalev just stepped into the circle and his win percentage is greater then koivu's. Wrong. Do your homework first. I just crunched the numbers myself and here they are: Koivu 48.7% after 59 face offs Kovalev 47.6% after 23 face-offs Also Kovalev gets called often for missing his face-offs and he ends up leaving them to Perezhogin or Samsonov Kovalev has single handedly helped Montreal win games last season, and with the hopes of even standing a chance in a few this season (Comeback against the leafs). True, Kovalev can single handedly help Montreal win games during the season. Not taking that away from him. Koivu however, can and does single handedly lift his team to wins (or at least close games) night after night. If Kovalev wins games, Koivu wins seasons. How can you say Kovalev has a black heart? Dont you idiots read Canadiens.com...Who just took over Theodore's box for sick children...KOVALEV did..so dont give me that rubbish that he doesn't give back to the community. No one ever said Kovalev had a "black heart". I challenge you to indicate where in this thread you see mention of such an accusation, on my part or anyone else's. Kovalev is a kind man and we love him for it. Calling your fellow Canadiens fans "idiots" however, for merely stating their opinion, is not a kind thing indeed. I will defend Alex Kovalev...Saku Koivu took a lot of stupid penalties in the offensive zone, restricting scoring chances last year. If the guy used his head, I would cheer for him, but I am Anti Saku Koivu...Yes I said it Habsworld...I am Anti Saku Koivu.... Koivu is guilty of taking silly hooking penalties, but again, i would just like to point out that Koivu has 10 PIM whereas Kovalev has 30. Try backing up your claims with facts next time. And some of you idiots blew this way out of proportion when the topic was specifically who would you like to see as the captain when Koivu. Its an opinion...Live with it. And as for those who sympathize with koivu's cancer and eye injury, that just as easily could have happened to anyone else on the Habs, and anyone else in the NHL at that! Its called reality. Perhaps, but i doubt if they'd all have hung in there with the same determination Koivu demonstrated. Again, calling us idiots, why? The fact is, you're trying to turn this into a Kovalev-Koivu competition. Both players are very talented and both are quite respected. You're calling us idiots, you're insulting members of the team, and your only claims regarding Kovalev have no supporting arguments. Your post was frankly a waste of kilobytes. If i were an admin, i'd ban you.

habs_in_the_blood: wow your cat looks a lot like mine!
  13. If anything, Ryder and Higgins are lucky to play with Koivu, not the other way around
  14. justintb: i will refrain from getting upset at your koivu bashing. You are entitled to your opinion. However, i must agree with cfposi. Scoring != Leadership Koivu : Cancer survivor, eye injury survivor, father, active in the community, all-around great guy, role model and inspiration to the city as much as his teammates. Kovalev is no jerk either, his work with kids is noted, but let's face it, he doesn't compare to Koivu. He may have leadership qualities, which is why he wears an 'A' (last i checked) but to say Koivu is undeserving of the captaincy is pure unadulterated blasphemy.
  15. I saw parts of the game. I'm annoyed.
  16. No.. PP and PK are both fine at the moment (stats don't lie) The biggest issue at the moment is discipline, plain and simple. The 2nd line problem is a secondary issue, one that will be aided if the line sees more ice time, which is the case if the Habs stop taking so many penalties. Besides, the russian line has played well two games in a row. Have we turned the corner?
  17. Had to play around with the lat/long a bit, but there. Sure is lonely, i'm only one of 4 in the montreal area.
  18. Indeed, but it's still fun to speculate
  19. Kozed: I agree 100%, but my opinion that Higgins is a future captain is based on the assumption that Koivu will be around for 3-5 more years and Higgins will have matured more by then. Rivet, Souray, Kovalev, etc. will also most likely be gone by then.
  20. 1. Listen to him in interviews, it becomes apparent what type of guy Higgins is 2. Listen to what his teammates say about him Right now, from what we can tell, he leads by example with his hard working / good work ethic Who knows what happens in the dressing room, but i'd bet he's a source of motivation in there too.
  21. Hi, i tried to switch to my new signature and was unable to. It would seem, after a bit of testing, that signatures are limited to 10kB now! Yet there are plenty of sigs that hit 50-75kB. What gives?
