They will not attempt to recall him.
It is as simple as this, they are sending him down knowing that if somebody claims
him his salary is off the books and that if nobody claims him his salary does not
count against the cap. Either way it is a clear indicator that they are freeing up
salary to make a move.
He will finish the season in Hamilton if he clears. Win/Win if you ask me.

He was sent down to the minors and rejected the call sparking a suspension from the ppl up in the NHL, I'm sure Samsonov is on his way to the Russian league.-->However I think it's an excellent move made by Gainey.

We need to put Kovalev on the top line. He loves long shifts and plays well with Koivu. We need to drop Ryder on the second line. I don't really see him as a first-liner.
How about these 4 lines?
Samonov, Koivu, Kovalev
Ryder, Plekanec, Higgins
Johnson, Bonk, Lats
Streit, Lapierre, Murray
I have to admit I like your lines

Last year, we only had 2 playersplay all 82 games - Craig Rivet & Mathieu Dandenault. This year, both of them are out of the running an ony 4 players remain. Who will it be? I'll say Johnson and Komisarek.
ps.. Michael seems to be a lucky name.

It's shame this game is between the 2 Penquin games. It probably takes the edge out of sunday! But still hope it will be fierce. Dunno if they come out hard this game, im afraid. We need the points.

Well, in the offseason he had planned to have surgery on both ankles, one after the other. It would have kept him out until January. Instead, he decided to only have surgery on the ankle in worse shape, so he could start the season. That means he's still playing on an on which ankle doctors said he needs surgery.
Exactly, that's why the deal is totally not even worth considering. Bob Gainey should should go after some other players on the Flyers roster like Gagné and Kapanen, those players would be a certain asset to the team.

I hate to admit it but I was a huge Samsonov fan, but I guess slumps and bad times happen for everyone eh? Sammy would for sure be extremely useful in a trade package, because I'm sure alot of teams are lacking the punch offensively (*cough, cough* Chicago) aaand Aucoin would be a good addition to the Habs blue-line corps because of the UFA Defensemen situation here in Mtl.
GO HABS GO!!!! I'm sure Bob Gainey will make the right decision.
