I tought they were offering 4 mil to Demitra? So 42.6+10+4 = 56.4.. talk about cutting it close.
-
Well that didnt took long.. 'Nucks match Bernier's offer sheet.
-
The Canucks are so short on offense than they pretty much have no choice but to match.
If they do match, can the Blues trow yet ANOTHER, higher offer sheet to Bernier?
-
Senators sign Jason Smith, 2.6M / yr for 2 yrs
Good signing for them IMO, they needed to beef up their D.
-
So who's left? O'Byrne , Gorges, and that's it?
-
Well, looks like your team will keep Peca at least!
The Blue Jackets have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent centre Michael Peca, The Dispatch has learned.Best guess here is it's a two-year deal. It could be announced as soon as Tuesday. Apparently, there are some minor details to hammer out before it's completed.

"fodder" to fill out rosters
Speaking of that.. any news concerning Smolinski? Anyone interested in him?
-
I wouldn'T be surprised to see Dandy go, but I wouldn'T let go of Bouillon. This guy gives it everything he's got everynight and is solid defensively.
True,true
Dandenault is definitively the odd man out in our lineup right now. I dont think he'll be a Habs at this time next year.

This have us at 47.319 mil spent

With so many players coming and going, it's hard to say if the Rangers will be better or worse than last season.
Out:
Jagr
Shannahan
Straka
Avery
Toots
Malik
Mara
Backman
In:
Zherdev
Naslund
Fritsche
Voros
Rissmiller
Jamtin
Redden
Kalinin
I expect major chemistry problems for them in the beggining of the season.
-
mm according to nhlnumbers.com, the Rangers have 46.7 mil commited to 11 forwards , 5 D and 1 goalie. That doesnt include Kalinin's contract tough, and they need to sign RFA Nigel Dawes and Dan Fritsche, plus they need to get a back-up goalie.
They could still have room for Sundin, had they not gave so much money to Redden.
-
Markus Naslund has signed a 2 year deal with the New York Rangers.
Nice, it means they dont have the room for Sundin anymore!
Plus as MTF said, it makes Vancouver even less attractive for Sundin
Guess it's down to Montréal VS Toronto for Sundin's services.

I like the signing, but 1.5M is about 500K too much for Laraque. I hope it wont prevent us from keeping our UFAs next year.
-
It's nothing official yet.
-
Habs rumored to have signed Laraque
Kostopoulos - Bégin - Laraque.. quite the badass 4th line!
-
Ya the Leafs and the Habs are in complete different worlds right now. Habs want the cup NOW while the Leafs are in for long, painful rebuild unless they somehow pull a Philly.
-
Grabo is basically Perezhogin 2.0.. lot of potential, but very questionable work ethic. Not the kind of player Bob Gainer really likes. I'm not surpirsed nor sad to see him go.
-
Yuck, its like some teams like Leafs and Jackets are screwing up their team on purpose.
Also, the Hawks are now 2 mil over the cap, I wonder what they're gonna do to solve that?
-
Apparently the NYR/Columbus trade is not finalised, more players could be involved.
-
I'm glad than it's not Gainey who is handling all those crazy contracts. I cant help but feel than this league is going straight into a wall with huge long terms contracts like the ones who are being handed out. Gainey's one of the only GM who still have a brain.
Plus, next year we have a lot oF UFAs to worry about.. Kovalev,Koivu,Tanguay,Komi .. this is gonna cost a lot to keep 'em all If Gainey was handling out large contracts like candies, we wouldnt be able to keep our core together after next season.
-
Huet 5.625m
Theodore 4.5m
Streit 4.1m
Ryder 4m
I'm glad we're not the ones stuck footing the bill for these.
Where do the GM take so much money from? All those huge contracts leave me quite puzzled

Barry on TSN says Montreal is going another way after trying to get a deal done with Sundin.
Another way eh? Did he gave any details, what does this ''other way'' means?
-
Maybe Chi' could trade Havlat instead of Bulhin? He's always injured after all, it's not like they would miss him.
-
He actually got less per year than I tought he would. I tought he would get close to the 8 digits in that crazy market.
Also, according to TSN, the 'Nuck are the ones who offered 10M yr / 2 yrs to Sundin.
