"As far as what it could take to land him? Easy answer: A LOT. Realistic answer? The Canadiens 2018 and 2019 1st round picks, Juulsen or Mete, Danault or Gallagher, and one of Lindgren or McNiven."
if I could I would try the 2x 1st round pick + MaxPac + pospect + 1x 2nd rond pick . might be good

Look at milbury's work s GM, always humerous.
I kinda have strange wakes where I think Babcock was coach of the Habs, must be for a faction of a second in the same dimension where the Isls didn't hire milbury, lol

That took me a lot longer to understand than it should have. Funny indeed.
As for the topic being discussed, I've literally always been a Habs optimist but when we were discussing the loss of Radulov, many people argued that Drouin was better than him, so the loss of Radulov would feel less meaningful. One could have argued that the loss of Radulov due to injury (last season) would have been huge as well but when
we acquired Drouin, the initial reaction was that we had added yet another piece to our offensive unit. When we lost Radulov, it was only then that people seemed to point out that Drouin's ceiling is astronomical and that he could improve our offensive unit single-handedly even with the loss of Radulov. It is in that sense that it makes sense to worry about the "what if" he gets injured. Pacioretty is proven but outside of Galchenyuk, Lehkonen and Gallagher's potential there's not much outside of Drouin and we are weak at center.
I think even those who are "rational" about the team would like to see us in that inner circle of top tier contenders since we hover every year. That list of teams includes Pittsburgh, who should be the current model of success, and they were able to win the cup without a significant piece in Letang. In addition, they could have won had either of their goalies gone down as well.
I caught myself singing E-40 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zbw3KzgHBU) as I was reading your post, till I got to the end and I got my nope ( ) I don't think I am ready for the Habs being in the same basement as the Pens in and after the years of Mario was messed from the clutch and grab, hope to win a lottery or two in a year with a can't miss gen talent player. That is what Edmonton is doing. I don't want to sound like this and I will try to keep a piece of my optimism that MB can become a Pollack because Molson see that 'celling' in him, well I hope anyway.
(post post): I would like to have a little credit for not calling any Habs upper brass by anything nasty going through my (sometimes, tiny) head

Although I just made a post in another thread including Bergevin's name, none of my posts here are really against Bergevin, although this would be the place to do it. They're more about losing out on Radulov.
Stephane Laporte had a funny about that on Lapresse.ca "mon clin d'oeil" (http://www.lapresse.ca/actualites/le-clin-doeil-de-stephane-laporte/201707/10/01-5114882-mon-clin-doeil-du-mardi-11-juillet-2017.php)
"Radulov a préféré aller jouer dans un pays dirigé par un Russe."
ruff translation: Radu prefered to go play in a country run by a Russian.
(edit) is that Markov's hold out?

Just noticed that Pierre Turgeon is now an assistant coach with LAK. He is not a guy that struck me as one that would gone into coaching! But it was interesting reading the news release that Stevens wanted someone who complements the coaching staff by bringing the perspective of a high end player. We brought Muller in last year, but other than that we've got a bunch of grunts as assistant and player development coaches. Maybe, MB should take consider getting some different perspective on the habs staff.
I was thinking the same a bit back but I was WAY out the box and thinking he should take a sales/collections training course to help get his target in trades (might help w/ contact negs too, who knows). He always been saying that trades are hard yet several teams have managed to get themselves a '#1C' in his tenure as Habs GM. Of the to of my head I am thinking of Dallas twice and Nashville. It is kinda easy for me to s*!* on MB but then again I am not privy to any of the close door happenings. I don't know what Ottawa would hv asked for Spezza or Boston for Seguin or Columbus for Johanson (sp?). None the less, I agree, something has to change in his approach to bringing the cup back home.

I'm going to share the same thought about Jumbo Joke in regards to Tavares. Big name free agents never sign in Montreal.
They sign:
1. Where they grew up, or where their wife's family lives.
2. NYC
3. LA
4. Toronto
So the Habs will open a cloning center next July and JT will be here one way or another.... maybe plan b can be Mario when he was eating a lot of Chunky soup

Are we gunning for Tavares next summer?
the Habs should be "gunning" for him right Now! I would trade MaxPac, the training center and 2x 1st rounds
(edit) Habs have the money to build another 1 closer to me

I agree with you here. Tiger Woods was really tearing it up and tearing up sluts, but when his wife found out and he had that accident, his career unraveled. I do wish people would stop craving the downfall of the best people in society. Nowadays, a hero can't be a hero. There has to be a sinister angle to their personal life.
My gran used to tell me to watch and play sports but not to look up to ppl who play sports; because ppl who did that for a living were not to bright. I think this was true in a time when it was okay to say: "jocks are dumb". So now that it isn't well they are "role models"

I did not hear about the strippers, my gosh has the Pope been advised. That is trading grounds right there. Just look at the purse snatcher and what happened to him.
millionaire(s) thieving a purse to get to a phone that may or may not have a pic that may or may not, not only really compromise said (BIG ticket) player/players and Then "passing the buck" (ha! passing the buck!) to a "rookie" player; (In my book) should get traded.... the rookie too for compromising his morals and if it isn't part of his morals then... uhh?!?... cut his hand he stole with too? Because at the end of the evening I am sure there was an ATM available to get said phone, no?

I would do that for sure
Drouin Tavares Radulov
Lehkonen Galchenyuk Gallagher
Cup
I see that ALOT closer with that top6 but fe real tho... I would try put Chucky on 2nd line RW next season if he not going to play C.... I like that float in the middle thing he does from the RW, it's Swweeet as sin when he let's it rip after

I'd love to see the habs pick up Tavares, but i would want him signed long term. Also, I'm not sure if giving up Chucky, Beaulieu and Juulsen would be enough to get Tavares out of N-Y.
what about MaxPac + Beaulieu + 1st rd 2017 +2nd rd 2019?

Who would you want to play with Weber?
TJ Brodie? Brodin/Dumba? or Vatanen/Fowler?
I would think Fowler would be the better partner but I think Brodin is the 1 in reach to MB

I think with this trade IF the Habs can get a #1C (or even a Real #2c) and still find a way to keep Chucky... IF they keep playing him wing then they should put him on Right Wing kinda like Ovi... I like the way Chucky float in to the slot from the right to pull a shoot... Might calm some ppl who see Chucks as a loss... Any thoughts?

Dan Girardi over Anton Stralman is one of the dumbest moves in NHL recent history.
I would hit up Kordic for Courtnall in that top 5

I wonder if there is a way MB can pull this trade without giving up on Chucky or Micha?
http://blogues.lapresse.ca/lnh/2017/06/15/derek-stepan-est-sur-le-marche/
Stepan on market?
(edit) I like the idea of trading for Drouin as mention by Commandant above... but I wonder if Stepan if there is a way... Maybe by flipping a couple prospects and picks... I would venture something like Mete, Julsson and 2nd in 2017 +2nd in 2019, yup 2019

If you give them Sergachev + 1st they might give you first overall.
Seems a bit steep... If MB I would gun for Brodin for NB and Sherbak or some other prospect... Seems to me if there is no legit #1C heading this way then Micha should stay

Seems NJ Devils might thinking about drafting D?
http://www.tvasports.ca/2017/06/10/un-defenseur-pour-les-devils-au-repechage
What if the Habs offered up NB and Julsson? Would that be fair? Since they could move down past 5 and still maybe get Makar

I would do that without flinching. What JT would do for the middle of the ice on Habs Team is a thing that kick start teenager things AND ohhh! "the Leadership" he would bring to this Team...
