He'd be a significant asset in Laval, a team that's down quite a few quality forwards at the moment. They have plenty of contract space (44/50) so this was an opportunity to upgrade Laval for free. It should have been taken, considering they need to make a few moves if they want their farm team to actually have a semi-realistic shot at a playoff spot.
Sound thinking. I would have done it for sure!
unless, when he was picked up by L.A. he ran his mouth about how this and that. Then I would just run him into the boards every chance I would get in my 1st AHL game against him. Just saying he didn't seem like a "Rocket fire in eyes" type. Kinda Doh!nald sad if u ask me; he was kinda fun to watch when he wasn't doing an impression of the Artist (ha! impression).

The habs have 3 top 5 picks on their team.
Carey price
Kotkaniemi
Drouin.
ohh Snap!! forgot Carey at 5, my bad
I wasn't counting Drouin tho, like I said in post I shoot my own arguments down pretty good. And I still would like another top 5 pick in next 3 drafts

Anyone expecting a tank job is crazy.
The key to winning without tanking is to draft gems outside the top-10. The telecast last night showed a graphic of major TB players drafted outside the first round. That's how you do it. Is there reason to believe Bergevin can build an organization as excellent as Tampa's? No.
All True! Still TB does have 2 top 5 picks (3 if you count Drouin even if traded) and if I look at any of the Teams I like (lollll) you count 2 (good) top 5 picks. I guess I kinda shoot my own argument bcuz of Chucky but on the Team right now there is (only) 1. I would like the Habs to be able to do that for our roster. Still if the Ghost of Sam can haunt some of the phone lines to make a trade happen for Ottawa 1st round held by Colorado, I will stop calling the phone booth the New Forum phone booth!

It was an Amazing game to watch
yet
I still am wondering even more now, then at the start of the season, If certain moves should be made to allow this year to be for the youth to start building on experience?
The Terrible year last year kinda make me want to see another Good high pick come to the Habs in the next 3 drafts. I would rather that be next year as opposed to 3 years from now but would settle for a high pick comming from another team too if we make the playoffs but my faith in MB to make that happen is kinda Weak.
But What a Game that was last night!!!

Colorado has Ottawa's first rounder.
doh!!
what about 2020 or even 2021 1st round and a 3rd round in 2019 would that be fair?
Maybe even pull a swap of 1st rounders in 2020 to sweeten the pot so they don't loose 2years of 1st rounders. (edit): something on their end would need to come back like a 3rd in 2020 if not a lottery pick or something, idk maybe if 1st ott lottery then we give em a 2nd, if not lottery then they give us another 3rd round. Does that kinda make sence?
I think a team like Ottawa can use the 1.5mil above pay cap hit to hit the cap floor and maybe keep this low low team thing they wanna do.

It's boxing day and I miss hockey already, so here is my boxing day "bad contract" trade proposal:
NJD: Petry for Greene & 2019 1st round draft pick
PHI: Petry for MacDonald & 2019 1st round draft pick
FLA: Petry for Yandles & 2019 1st round draft pick
VAN: Petry for Edler & 2019 1st round draft pick
and for a forward:
DAL: Petry for Hanzal & 2019 1st round draft pick
HO HO HO
Go Habs Go
i would add
OTT: Petry for 2018 3rd round pick & 2019 1st round pick
if Santa can gift

Yes, the peanut gallery who wouldn't shut up about him not being allowed to play centre are way too silent and should be eating crow.
I'm 1 of them ppl. but in all fairness I don't think any1 saw how good Domi was going to be for the Team this year. If Chuky is on the wing on top of it, well I have made stew with the bones too

$1.025M can be buried ($375K plus the league minimum salary). That means Alzner's still on the books at $3.6M.
i had mentioned this a way back. And Antichambre boys (i think was G. Latendresse) were saying having Alzner in minors might change mood of Team.
To justify Alzner there might be a good idea to kinda make him an Assist Coach on skates?
On 10/10/2018 at 2:07 PM, ehjay said:you can go the W. Redden way but might not be ideal, still he would be close to MTL (for famely reasons and needs) and can act like coach on skates in Laval maybe, could justify paying high pay for double duty and pave way for after playing days, maybe, honestly idk I'm just spitting here :/

So he is. Serves me right for not checking.
And Price's contract ends when he is 40, five years older than Niemi is now.
I have to up vote it all, I still havent checked

Niemi has not been injury-prone through his career, and if he's only playing 20 or so games his age should not really be an issue. If he can play as well at 39 (next year) as he did at 37 (last year) I think this might be a viable option.
yeah (lollll) some ppl (me) think he is old. Viable option is cool I get it; yet I would rather have a kid as backup (if he can do it). Might even make CP31 wiggle his head clean if he can smell the bad garlic curry hot sauce breath of 1 of the kids, maybe?off topic but not really...
I think Vince Carter is old for pro league. I won't stop him from collecting a pay check from team, why would I? Still, Vince Carter would Kill Ice Cubes 3v3 league and give them a 1st ballot hall of famer for marketing and all that, it would be Awsome btw anyone else think it's kinda wierd all the adds on the ice? For a "Multi Billion Dollar league" they sure starting to look like a league in Europe, no?

Given his ahl play... do they trust him as a number 2 next year.
Heck if they trusted him as a number 2 this year they wouldnt have resigned niemi.
He had a hot start in the nhl... but seemed to cool dramatically thereafter and his ahl stats have never been great.
Id trade him if someone else thinks that he has value.
I think a trade might be good too but a golie has to come back. If Niemi at 38 can back up still then McNiven (sp?) can be up in 2 yrs and no mess. Stillz if at 38 Niemi might seem a little old then a trade not so good maybe ?

Yes. So even with the recent struggles in our own end, I consider the current total of 27 points from 23 games to be decent.
Weber is on his way back, and both Price and Niemi have looked better recently. It's definitely looking like a much better season than I expected. As long as the kids don't run out of steam halfway through ...
sounds like a team playing just a bit better then 500 hockey. Not what most ppl on this site call "decent". I think "decent" is a team that is not a wild card into playoffs but that last bit is me, I won't speak for anyone else on that one

He doesn't need to be top 3 in the league. Just a bonafide #1.
I think the top 3 want comes from 1 that shall not be named, that was traded for. He is a top 3 in many books (mine for sure) and wanting a player on this Team to be top 3 league wide is a wish for all on this Team, I hope, even if not possible

Why has to be genius or luck in Domi trade? Is what it is...after all of 1 month Domi appears to be that centre we were all hoping Galchenyuk would be..
I don't think it was skillz, and it seems those two options are better then witch craft?

Wow, that was bad.
Second time this week that they played like most people expected the CH to play this season.
The D played to the level of their talent, Ouellet reverted to Detroit-level, Alzner to 2017 level, etc. etc.
The only positive is that the forwards continued playing well. Scoring, forechecking and playing with intensity.
I would send Mete down and bring up the best stay at home D down in Laval. Not that Mete has played poorly, but he needs to continue progressing and to dominate the play to build his confidence.
It is time to throw what-ever may stick to patch the holes at D, until Weber returns.
the only reason I would make that move is because JB down there.
I would fear to mess up the mans' confidence/ego. Like u said not playing bad so what happens in his head?
CP31 seems to think (ha! thinks) it's all between the ears. Last year too right? ohh wait last year was sleep deprevation
edit: I do not say sleep deprevation in a bad way btw a new born will cause that and this even more True with the 1st in the household.

I was thinking..
anyone think the laffs would trade Marleau and 1st for Plecky (loll again) edit: add maybe something
Pros for laffs they get rid of 6.25 mill on cap to make things happen elsewhere for next year and take less cap hit this year
for Habs, the 1st and C to show how it's done to the young guy on the Team and maybe even how to take face offs to a couple of other folks too.
idk any1 else think might be good?

See the wording is the problem...
some (me, lolll) still see the word goat as an acronym 1st; unless you put curry right after, see: goat curry.
oterwise i see G.O.A.T. as: Greatest Of All Time
(edit) some puke at just the thought of goat curry so u might still be on to something I like goat curry
(editedit) I don't know Petry nickname but maybe now it can be: goat curry?
