  1. BIG GAME and it promises to be a BIG TOP TIME!

    GO HABS GO!

They should be energized by their last victory and come from behind, its the kinda story that teams of destiny write in the story line around one month out of the playoffs. The coaching staff know this and so do the vets on this team... they will come out hard tonight..

    GO HABS GO!

5-3 habs! Its going to be WING night at the Cage!

    GO HABS GO!

  2. We should sign both, they are young and need time. They both have great upside. And what a duo... when and if we are ready to make a major decision cause they are both in their PRIME and prove to be #1 goalies then we can consider picking one over the other, but for the next three years at least we should hold both.

The other questions to ask is whats the alternative? I really don't see any other young backstop ready to take the #2 spot...

  3. D-men take time to develop. He is cheap and big and has promise.

Don't forget he is still a kid. They make MISTAKES.

its only human to do so...

Yes, that right he, me and YOU are human too...

I am very happy with his development. He is another player that was a big part of the Bulldogs last Calder Championship. He can dominate in this league. I would like him to prove me right. And yes I believe in this KID!

He is no PK. but he is the big BURN!

    GO HABS GO!

  4. I disagree about Martin rewarding players, the young guns seem to have such a short leash..they could have a monster game, make one mistake and bam! Stapled to the bench for the rest of the game.

Yes, I agree Martin seems to have little patience for the kids if they make one mistake. Thats his way of teaching, the NHL is a tough league, +/- is critical. Pouliot is in my books a good player no doubt., but he has earned his way on to the top line with Gio and Gomy; now when he makes mistakes its not an immediate demotion but it could happen to any top end player if they have a major slump.

All I'm saying is that its better than before, and its a chemistry experiment that has shown signs of working. If we get hot at the right moment, with the right tough love and a bit of Les Canadiens luck and passion we could make an interesting run in the playoffs. I like where we are and what we could do this season.

    GO HABS GO!

  5. in an effort to bring this topic back on track... maybe.

I feel that Martin does have a system. A few of us who actually listen to pre-game and post-game and actually analyze his style of play could deduce the following.

    a) He has a system ( not ones saying its good )

    b) It clearly not working out yet ( give them time, the team needs to gel, plus they came off a pretty good break, and besides Halak, Price needs a solid D, its not been there this season )

    c) Martin like to go to the net and pick up the garbage.

    d) He like to give the purely offensive players free roam to create, with one exception everyone comes back to help out.

    e) He like to protect leads by play the trap when ever possible. ( But lately he has tweaked that just a bit by trying to put constant pressure in the offensive zone, works with young kids the dogs but not with rusty vets )

    f) He looks to balance Size and Speed; Skill and Leadership in each of his pairs of defensemen. ( latest experimental pairings are... Markov and O'Burner; Hammer and Spaceman, Giller and Gorgeous ) not sure if I really want to see the M squared defensive pairing back... MABS and MARa'S ... But don't mind having MAB's on the PP with Markov.

My final observation and then lets see what everyone else thinks...

    g) Martin will play and give ice time to those that deliver, he plays his stars and gives them a chance to earn their cheques ( gomez has still not earned anything yet..! ) He loves Gionta and CAMMY; Plexi and Markov; He has no problem sidelining the under achiever and bring up and down players to show case them and give them a taste of the big time. Bottom line, the players like him and trust him and will play for him. And that is the BEST SYSTEM in my books!

GO HABS GO! GO HABS GO! GO HABS GO!

I asked for one thing this season, for the habs to surprise, and I for one am pleasantly surprised thus far, is their room for more MOST CERTAINLY! And there WILL BE!

GO HABS GO! GO HABS GO! GO HABS GO!

  6. Great game and Brilliant effort from the call ups. Hamilton is a wonderful bed for young talent; based on that game alone, maybe I should pick up seasons tickets for them again next season.

I will say this note of caution. The hit on Markov; which had him go down with pain in the lower rib cage area may come back to haunt us. I hope that is not the case. But theses things come up to the surface only two days later.

The dude who hit Markov better be awake the next time the habs play as that cheap shot was not a welcome hit!

    GO HABS GO!

ps. praying for Pouliot to return. We missed having that big man in front of the net specially on the PP. We play well; because of the kids; we should be better and play with this kinda intensity always... no EXCUSES..

GO HABS GO! Proud of that game..

  7. Looks like this thread has gone over a cliff.

Lets try to bring it back to some sense of reality again.

Although i enjoyed the sarcasm of Dal...

and certainly like the question around why the team has not picked a Captain yet... :?-

and yes don't we have some cap space to work with? ;)

finally, if BG does not make a move this year and puts us into the final months of this season to fend for ourselves with what we have, I expect a few trades and moves that will change the makeup of this group for next year. IT has to happen...

    At this point I like the idea of staying H E A L T H Y! :puke:

The push to the Olympics will be fun and the Final stretch will be exciting I'm certain of it.... GO HABS GO!

Happy New Year! and all the best for 2010. GO HABS GO! :hlogo:

  8. 3. Assuming that veterans such as Pleks, Gionta, Gomez at al. play up to their potential (and all the Gomez bashers have forgotten that he has a certain pattern of slow starts), I'll go out on a limb and say that a secret key to this team's chances is...Benoit Pouilot. Seriously! If Pouilot continues to build on what he's shown so far, this means that the Habs will have added that crucial missing top-6 forward that's been plaguing us since September - without sacrificing much in Latendresse. That will give us a much more balanced attack and a much more effective top-6. In turn, that will make us a much better team.

    1) Agreed! Benoit Pouliot will be magic if he keeps progressing into that elite top draft pick that he was selected as...

I will do the CHICKEN dance if he lives up to potential this year.

    2) Our Goalies need to keep up the effort and give us a chance to win every game.

    3) Our Defense and Offense need to play well enough to score goals and hold leads.

    4) Stay away from the "sick bay".

    5) IF and this is a big "IF", we are in position to make a solid run by the trade deadline. BG must pull of a trade that brings a game breaking, superstar to the habs to put us over the top! Another top six forward that gives us potential to become a three line scoring team!

    GO HABS GO!

  9. Next we will be looking to trade CAMMY! If anyone wants to jump the bandwagon now would not be a good time. Remember, our beloved habs usually have a lovely fall from grace after Christmas, and just into the new year. If they hold their own now. and in the next month, we are looking at a very VERY VERY VERY VERY! good spring. GO HABS GO!

NO TRADES until the trade deadline. Then I'd like a superstar please! aka game breaker... who can win it for us on a single rush! GO HABS GO!

  10. agreed.. maybe pouliot will finally be the first piece of the puzzle for making our top two lines the fast, strong and finally competitive. keep your health in 2010 boys.. GO HABS GO! Damn I was so carried away with the game that I didn't notice I had passed the 1000 post mark.. wow! thats a really proud moment for me. I'm so happy to be part of this forum/blog/civilized fan of the Habs and Habsworld!

    GO HABS GO!

  11. I really liked what I saw from chicken boy tonight looked real good. The fourth line seemed like they were always on the ice. You see what the sens did, what the leafs did, etc. Pressure the opposing teams D...it works...why does Martin refuse to do it, and instead insists on this boring 1-2-2 crap...it's not a trap, cause traps work, so it's a crap.

winner winner chicken dinner! I'm a believer in Pouliot; always have been and always will be...! I wanted him in the draft over Price. But when he was picked up before we could I was pissed.. then even more so when we took Price... but then when I realized who Price was and his potential I was very satisfied. For me when the Pouliot trade was finalized., I felt like a kid in a candy store!

I felt like I got my cake and could eat it too! Now if this sour taste would simply go away, so that its replaced by a sweet taste of victory!

GO HABS GO! GO HABS GO! GO HABS GO!

  12. ... SK had made things happen and it was Laps best game in a dog's age. I don't think we can roll two lines for the final seven minutes or so, so using the "fourth" line was actually pretty astute. All three are guys who 'can' score, rather than the Metro line which is a plugging line right now.

Love the reference to the "dog's", this team is made up of a few dog's from the pound., ie. hamilton.

Love the effort... not the result... was impressed seeing the gomy, gio, pouli line firing on all guns. Pouliot, is showing signs of why he was a first rounder., give him a few more games to come out of his shell and shed the rust...

And there is just something so satisfying in watching a loaded stick in the hands of Cammy! what a thing of beauty when he fires the puck. He is always buzzing., and its great to see quality chances and finally a Habs player who is talented at firing the puck and making it count on many nights, as he is effective at setting up his teammates and keeping the tempo of the game high!

    LOVE IT! GO HABS GO!

I know in habs "land" there is no such thing as a good loss, but if there was ever a game I enjoyed watching it was tonight, at least the first two periods. So I'll take the loss but that is all! the next two games must be victories. no excuses!!!

Halak needs to play again in Tampa; and Price in Florida; but I have a feeling Martin will use this loss to get Price back on the horse. This loss was not Halak's fault., the team defense is what gave up on this night.

GO HABS GO! GO HABS GO! GO HABS GO!

    :B);)

  13. Merry Xmas everyone!

JMMR I'm so temped to get on a flight and get to Tampa and enjoy the back to back games in Florida and Tampa. But unfortunately, family commitments keep me here in the freeze we call home! I'm not complaining. Just a bit disappointed I cannot make it down to enjoy what should be on all accounts two great games in the sunny south... I'll have to settle for watching the game in HD RDS! (thank God for Christmas gifts! did I mention how much I love my wife...)

Changing gears again, this entire traveling down to the sunny south to watch a game got me thinking. What would have happened if I did manage to find my way down there how would I recognize you or for that matter any other HABSWORLD member....?????

This got me thinking that the admins / those in the know or anyone who could make this happen, should be looking into creating HABSWORLD stuff! like T-shirts, jerseys, caps, pins, flags, SWAG! SWAG! SWAG! So that we we attend games (in general promote both the site and our passion for the HABS and the site...) either here or down south or on any part of this globe we call earth! Thats right gentlemen and ladies.. think BIG! and don't underestimate the popularity of this site and some of its BLOGGERS... we are famous in some circles... I can attest to this FACT!

So have i had one too many pucks to the head or am I into the eggnog way too early on this boxing day?

Give me your thoughts... GO HABS GO!

  14. I know your question wasn't directed my way, but In case you are looking for a good spot, I go to Snake's poker Room in Khanawake. Cash games and Tournaments everynight. Also, as long as you are sitting at a table, Alcohol and food are free!

    GO HABS GO!

Getting back on TOPIC! how about that MARKOV! another brilliant performance by #79; our leader on the ice in a BIG BIG BIG way!

    GO HABS GO!

  15. Love the new avatar since the Chipchura trade!

thanks Trizzak! knew when I picked the nick name, that one day my boy Chipper just may fly to nest. So; I'm prepared to head down an alternate reference to the nick. mind you I know how Kozed felt.

the name does suit me on other levels too.. hence the current pic. anyone for a round of hold em' if you got em?

    GO HABS GO!

  16. This is funny. there is no debate there.

you don't keep a Backup over a starter...

    Price - Starter

    Halak - Backup

If Halak, can put up another stellar performance and pick up the pace. He may give this a good shake up! Not to mention, BG's request for a Top Six forward in return for trading Halak is looking like it may pan out! GO HALAK GO! GO HABS GO!
