  1. I wasn't contesting Kozed's or anyone else's knowledge of hockey red tape. I was merely stating that since there were other players in the AHL that were 19 that his age was not the limiting factor but the league he played in or draft year or what have you. The statement that he is too young to play in the AHL is still false. More accurately it should be stated that because he played in the Quebec Major Junior league he cannot play in the AHL because he is too young. An all encompassing statement like because he is 19 he is too young to play in the AHL cannot be made because clearly it is false . The part about him playing in the QMJHL must be added to make the statement accurate... ok I'll stop rambling now
  2. I wasn't trying to insult. Fact is it's not his age because 19 year olds can play in the AHL. It's the year he was drafted in that is the deciding factor (at least that's what I got from the 2 seconds I looked at Kozed's post). Why should I listen to old pumpkin head Mckenzie anyway :?- I don't have to explain why Samsonov should be dumped (although I already did )> It's just a screen name and doesn't really have much meaning. Besides, in 3 or 4 years (probably way before) he'll be long gone and it will give me something to remember him by That's right and don't forget it
  3. That's not true. If you bothered reading my post you would of seen that I had an example of a player who is 19 and plays on the Albany River Rats. It has to do with the year the are drafted if I understood it correctly from Kozed et al.
  4. Oh ok, I thought it was just an age thing and seeing that Kyle Cumiskey was 19 as well proved that Latendresse could be sent down. But that still doesn't mean he won't end up in juniors if the coaching staff feels that he isn't ready and that public demand is too much. Don't want this guy being burnt out by pressure at such a young age like has happened before to other promising young players.
  5. Ther'ye both 19 and that's what counts. Clearing waivers is not the issue. Jmmr stated that he was too young at 19 to go to the AHL but this is clearly false. Both him and InsaneAVSfan have been given misinformation.
  6. Just had a quick look at the Albany River Rats roster and came up with this: Kyle Cumiskey D L 5-10 185 Dec. 2, 1986 Abbotsford, BC This guy is 19 so clearly Latendresse is not too young to go to the AHL. He wouldn't clear waivers though.
  7. Too young..never heard that before..there's an age limit for the AHL but not the NHL? That doesn't sound right.
  8. Actually it reminds me a lot of the guy he was traded for. I hated Theo's style because he was always going down too soon and staying down. It's hard watching Abby at times because he shares some of these attributes with Theo but the difference is that Huet is always there in the wings to take his place if he screws up. They didn't have that option when Theo was here (well briefly). The team had to live and die with Theo until Huet got here. Something else about Aebischer is that he is incredibly quick at getting back into position so he doesn't get burnt as much as Theo. Theo went down and that was how he stayed till the puck was either out of the zone or in the net. While it's nerve racking watching both Abby and Theo, I feel a little more at ease with Abby because he recovers a lot better from being out of position. And like I said, there's alway good ole Huet waitng on the bench if need be...it's great have a good 1-2 punch in net :hlogo:
  9. I guess he's a long term project but some fans are going to be disappointed with him and lose patience. Some people had him scoring 30 goals or more his first season which seems like a long shot at best. To go to Hamilton he would have to clear waivers so that isn't going to happen. He may still end up in juniors. I think he can play 10 games before he can't be sent down. It wouldn't be such a surprise for a 19 yr old kid. Don't know if there is much left for him to learn there but if the pressure becomes unbearable in Montreal then it could save his ass.
  10. Latendresse is proving that preseason games are very different from the real thing. He's been pretty much invisible so far. I'm sure he'll get better but it's interesting to see the contrast between preseason and regular season. Guess they were right to keep him out of the line-up last season. I was glad they did at the time and now I'm sure it was better for him to wait till this year. Hell he still might not be ready though I think he should at least go to Hamilton and not juniors if they feel he needs more time.
  11. If you're talking to me then you aren't killing anything I actually kind of agree with you that Aebischer does get out of position and has to come up with amazing saves that Huet makes look rather simple. That being said, Abby is finding a way to make it work so that's alright Hey, if nothing else, he's is more entertaining than huet
  12. That doesn't exlude what I said about Carbo being impressed with Aebisher. Obviously if a goalie is playing well he is going to ride him for a while. That doesn't mean the other one will never play but he might not get as many games. We could see one goalie having a better season and ending with more starts, say 45-50. By playoffs there may be a clear #1 but for now you don't want one guy rotting on the bench. You have to go with the hot hand and presently that belongs to Aebisher.
  13. Garth Murray is out and Aaron Downey takes his place on fourth line. Yeah big news I know
  14. Seems Carbo was impressed with Aebisher as well because he'll be playing against Philly.
  15. Wow can you feel the love I mean he is overpaid by NHL standards for wahat he does. In case you didn't notice I was actually defending the guy
  16. Yeah a 2 goalie system is good but you know that with Danis and Price in the wings one onf these guys is probably gone by the end of next season. Not a bad idea about changing goalies for shootouts because even though Huet is the better positional goalie, Aebi is more acrobatic and is faster which may serve him better on break aways. Problem is he would have to come in cold with no chance to warm up. I don't know if he'd even be allowed to come in anyway unless Huet was injured.
  17. Yes but we have a guy in Begin who sort of fits that mould but he is classy and doesn't throw cheap shots. He does his job through clean hits and hard work unlike a certain Tucker on the leafs whos got a mouth the size of the grand canyon and is dirty to boot. It's hard to respect a guy like that no matter what he does for the team.
  18. Rivet is alright...no one is perfect and every D in the league makes mistakes. Only problem I have with Rivet is his contract...too much money for a guy of his caliber. You know though, if he tests the free agent market he's going to get even more so if Montreal is going to keep him they need to be prepared for that...as weird as it seems.
  19. I'm not here to defend the dumb moves made by Bruin management. The name I chose comes from my personal belief that Samsonov is not going to set the world on fire for the Habs. For the salary the Habs are giving him they might as well have stuck with Zednik but I guess ole Zed wanted out of Montreal so they had no choice in the matter. I dont expect Samsonsov will get anymore points than Zednik but he's getting paid much more so you do the math. It's not like Samsonov was the guy Bob was after anyway. He wanted Elias, Shannahan and a few others but couldn't get them. The Samsonov move was regarded as a bit of a panick move by a lot of hockey experts and I tend to agree. Bob was seeing all the big names going and he thought he better grab something quick and Samsonov was available. Time will tell if Sergei can make it work but I have my doubts; hence the my nick name :king:
  20. You're all missing my point :?- I had Aebisher pegged as definetly the worse of the 2 goalies and that he would be traded if not this season then next BUT after last night I am impressed with his play especially how he shut the door in the 3rd. That's the type of clutch goal tending that sets a good goalie apart from the wannabe. I'm seeing Aebi in a new light and I think that if he continues like this then we definetly have options on which one to trade. I'm not saying dump Huet and go with Aebi. Far from it. Seemed like I was being clear but I guess not As for my name, well it's kind of a joke but it's grounded in some fact as well. Fact is Samsonov was terrible in last year's playoffs for Edmonton. Fact is he has shown nothing in preseason or the 2 games he has played for the Habs. And fact is he has been injured a lot and may never be the player he used to be. I mean Boston gave up on him for some reason. The joking part of my nick is that if he does stink it up for the Habs then I can say that I called way before the fact but if he plays well then I'll just say I was being ironic, like calling a big guy tiny. It's all in fun. Don't take yourselves so seriously habs fans :king:
  21. I must say that I was always thinking that Huet would be the #1 guy for the Habs but after last night I'm not so sure. Definetely Aebisher's best game as a habs. He was spectacular. I have to change my thinkiing of him as being no more than trade bait after last night. Not saying Huet was bad but I never expected a performance like that from Aebischer. It's great to have 2 goalies that good but it brings up an interesting problem for Bob. Do we really need 2 goalies of that caliber when one of them could bring a nice return? And if you trade, which one? Should be interesting to see if Aebi can follow up on a performance like that. I guess Melanson had a good influence on him during training camp.
  22. I'm liking that line a lot. Johnson, Bonk and Perezhogin seem to have some chemistry and they were Montreal's best line tonight. Seems to be a great 3rd line and I'm curious to see if they can keep it up and possibly get better as the season goes on.
  23. I guess Carbo is testing the waters before he decides who the number 1 will be.
  24. Yeah it's one game so imagine how smart I'm going to look 25 games down the road when eveybody else is gonna be screaming to get rid of Samsonov and I can say that I called it way back in Oct. :king: :king: Seriously I don't wish the guy bad luck. Of course I want him to do well because his success would mean more success for the team and think we all want that.
  25. The thing with Samsonov is he has sucked for the last couple of seasons and I have doubts he's going to get better soon. Seriously, did any of you catch the final last year? It was embarassing how bad he looked against the Canes. I remember specifically saying to someone that I couldn't believe how bad he had gotten after a few good years in bean town. He looked like a pee-wee playing against men. I was feeling bad for him and I was thaking God he wasn't a habs and then wouldn't you know it he ends up on our team :puke: I don't like his style in the least and to me I don't see any improvement over Zednik in play or points total. Zednik was frustrating to watch because he held on to the puck to long just like Samsonov but at least Zednik would get a shot off which Samsonov seems incapable of doing. And Zednik was much harder to knock off the puck. Hit ole Sergei with a fly swatter and the puck is yours. All this said I do hope the guy proves me wrong and he can retain his form from his early years with Boston but I have the feeling that Bob should have saved his dough for a better option. I don't think he improved over Zednik but managed to spend more money instead.
