  1. Signing Alzner means that the second pairing is set with him and Petry. This also means that petry is going to have to play more offensively from now on because he is the only guy in the top four that has a good transition game.

That being said, Petry can be scary when he is relied on to carry too much of the offence.  I've always thought he makes mistakes when his ice time gets too high.

Lets hope that there is something else coming on D. To help spread the puck possession around.

I read an article this morning that a french writer says he spoke to Mcphee, who told him they were taking Pleks100%. Of course I can't find that article but it was on tsn.

Martin Lamey was saying the same thing on TSN 690 the other day.

He thinks Pleks has the most value because they could flip him at the deadline for a first rounder.  (That's what he said)

This is Buffalo's third pick, so it's almost as good as a late 2nd rounder. Unless it is another teams pick, not sure on that one.

I was never big on Nate. Not sad to see him go. I don't feel he lived up to his potential.

Also, didn't we have 8 defensemen during the playoffs? There is a glut of bottom pair options for us, which was ultimately the spot Nate earned himself. I think that KHL

pick up has a better chance to be our top 4 filler.  Maybe Phaneof is coming?

    please nooooooo

  4. I believe we are really going to notice our lack of scoring in this series.  I know that I will get blasted for this, but by the end of this series, Duchene for Sergachev will seem like a good idea.  Especially when all it takes is one fluke goal to win a game. I am also sorry for saying this but Carey is prone to those types of goals.  We need to score goals!!!

Coach said Emelin likely will be healthy scratch tomorrow...when was last time Emelin was healthy scratch, for performance reasons?:spamafote:

Don't know the last time....but I can tell you its overdue.   Lets hope that Davidson makes Emelyn expendable in expansion draft

I'm sure i am, i also like watching the physical side of the game, winning board battles and crashing the net isn't exciting, but it helps you win.

Watching smurfs the past 10 decade float around the perimeter drove me nuts, lol

Agreed,  I think we are going to be a very hard team in a 7 game series.

No team is going to want to play us with Radulov, Gallagher, Shaw, Ott, King, McCarron, Emelyn, Weber, Benn, and Davidson.  Each of those guys will wear you out (in different ways).  Dabble in a little bit of Lehtkonen and Biron's speed and a focused Carey Price and you better be prepared to go to war to win 4 out of 7.

Not to mention that CJ is soooooo much better at making adjustments than MT was.   We will be hard to play against

I see much more balance between speed and size and you literally can never have too many quality depth Defenceman in the playoffs.  If Emelin gets hurt tomorrow we will all be happy that we have a couple of extra bodies.

if one of the Puck moving Dmen get injured maybe Sergachev gets the call?!!

The problem isn't for this season but beyond.  This offseason, Radulov and Galchenyuk among others need new deals.  The following offseason, Price and Danault among others are up.  An extra big ticket in Cammalleri makes it harder to keep all of those guys around while still having room to improve.  It's one thing to add a big contract for someone that's going to make a sizable impact.  I wouldn't peg Cammalleri to do that - he's really starting to slow down.

    Ya I agree.

it would bit alot different if he were a pure rental for this year.  But the contract it a hard one to swallow......however if the devils were to eat half of his salary I'd think about it

Warning* Simply an Eklund rumour...Habs interested in Drouin.

Simply for sake of discussion, would Yzerman do that? What would Drouin cost and what would he be worth giving up?

It would seem more an off-season type move, but also would think Yzerman wouldn't want to deal within division if could avoid it.

I just don't see that happening,  if Yzerman didn't do it last year I doubt its gonna happen now.

However, If it did the cost would be way more than any of us would like to pay.  Think Gallagher plus Sergachev plus a high pick.   Plus Yzerman would probably want us to take a big contract back or something.   As great as Drouin is, even being Quebecois, I think it would be a mistake.

However if Galchenyuk is really on the block(as some pundits believe) then I guess anything is possible.

what the %$#@ do I know......I just want a perennial contender, is that too much to ask?

  9. I know he is nobody's first choice.  But with the way he is playing now maybe Evander Kane would be a good addition for the playoffs.

If MB could swing a deal for both Kane and kulikov it would probably not cost us anything too significant.

    My my only question is.

Is Kulikov good enough to play with Weber?
