  1. According to Eric Engels (Sportsnet), the Habs are showing interest in Calgary C Mikael Backlund. He's 26 and has two years left at $3.575 M after this season. 30 points in 58 games this year.

If a deal were to happen, I'd have to think Eller would be going the other way.

Tit for Tit trade. no thanks

  2. Bingo.

Hes a very good goalie but hes not in the class of price, rinne, lundqvist, holtby who are proving to be elite.

He has 2 cups.... sure but look at his team. That doesnt move him from very good to elite top 5 guy.

He has a conn smythe. Great he played well in 2010. Cant take that from him. But we also cant take away cam wards conn smythe and ward is hot garbage now. Quick is an above average goalie but not elite

How do you put Pekka Rinne in? He hasn't gone deep in the post-season once.

Holtby is still unproven in the 2nd season but looks like he is panning out to be a top 5 goalie. He could break that category, but I'd still take Jonathan Quick over him. The offence up front eclipses and pads his stats (Just like Corey Crawford).

  3. Philadelphia handed the Canadiens that game on a silver platter in the shootout...and im pissed that they did. Putting a guy who is 1 for 8 out there to try and equalize? P.S. way to show LEADERSHIP out there when it doesn't matter anymore #67 :bonk: lets at least TRY and get a top 5 pick in 2016 draft

  4. This is different. We all know therrien is done by mid april when the season ends, i don't see subban getting into a him or me stance cause subban is smart enough to recognize that. And even if Subban did get into the him or me stance, firing a coach after 4 years and a disastrous season isn't going to be an ego crushing move like Corey firing Tremblay would have been.

Why wait? Why not have MB step in as interim?

  5. Quit pickin on poor Larry (he is what he is) and he hasn't ever had top six minutes has he? So how would we know he cant centre 11-27 and do fine, who cares if we win, just don't get blown out of rink every game is what Molson is hoping for now and they basically have 25 practice games left to play so whats to lose?

Why should the Habs experiment and F up the ONLY bright spot in lineup chemistry recently? The Lars Eller experiment is over!

RE: your suggestion; if Eller flops playing with Chucky and Gally, his trade deadline value could depreciate even further then they're REALLY up shit creek without a paddle.

  6. Ya, well I'll decide what I do, and like to read, but thanks for your input, and will consider accordingly...

It IS a discussion forum, which leaves opinions to be expressed, and this thread is stupid...

He couldn't score on a 'Banker' last night. This thread is more alive than ever before!

  7. Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Gallagher

Who cares (Carr when healthy) - Plekanec - Andrighetto

    Byron - Mitchell - DSP

Who cares - Flynn - Who cares

    Trade: Weise, Flash, DD, Eller

Seriously can't be worse than what we have now.

The only person ill go out to bat for is Dale Weise on your trade list. This team would be SO pathetic if he wasn't the co-MVP through the first quarter of the season.

  8. So the rest of the team watches ? is that the theory. It is a team game. no defence, no goalie. Both goalies have made incredible saves over the time that Price has been gone. Did it help? No because the goalie can't score goals. They won't let him over the red line. Can't score from there. They should have won this game tonight but while the goalies cost them 2 goals IMHO. They had the chance to score 10. who is at fault? THE TEAM and the coach who pulled Scrivens cause he fell down. You had an empty net goal, a penalty shot (a damn good one by the way) and 2 complete giveaways hanging the the goalie out to dry. You blame the goalie? Come on man. Le Genius is a complete idiot for how he coached tonight. But no point in getting into that, it was the goalies fault.

I need to ask you a personal question...do you really think this team can win the Stanley Cup? whether it be on goaltending or O or D presence?

  9. You and I have always agreed on that point. this team is schizophrenic. They can't decide if they are up down or just lost.

I mentioned to Brian in another thread that this team needs to stop the push shove in standings and find an identity fast suggesting that Bergevin gives up a couple of 1st rd picks for Drouin....being bipolar in the standings helps nothing by any means of the imagination. Just tank already! I can name 4 Eastern conference teams that whoop our ass in a 7 gm series off the top of my head instantly.

  10. For what? It hit him accidentally. That's a perfectly legal (and largely normal) play. No, Subban should not have physically attacked a linesman for that. That's completely asinine to even suggest that.

Oh dear god Brian you make the linesman seem so innocent? They don't get paid to prop their ass up on a board they get paid to skate and move out of the way...he had plenty of time to do so if you watch the play again.

  11. I think Pacioretty is every bit as good as Stamkos is, would you pay that if he was up for UFA?

Pacioretty wishes he could hit a one timer with the velocity stammer can.

They look like the same player on paper this season, but over the long term, Stamkos will take off in point production, thus making him worth the pricetag associated.
