  1. if a key player is traded away, maybe the others will start to give a crap.

LOL, Like Theodore, Souray, Ribero, Ryder, Samsonov, Rivet? Or coaches Julien, Vigniault or Therion? This is not a new problem...it's being gong much of this decade...maybe more! The morale/work ethic problem has come up every season...so either it's one (or more) of the long timers on the team or it's a figment of our imagination.

Since 2003, here's the players that have been here since I can remember the same problems...Koivu, Kovalev, Markov, Begin, Boulion, Komiserik, Plekanec, Higgins (Brisebois was traded then returned). If it really is a morale issue, you can kinda narrow it down seeing as the other alleged "trouble makers" have been traded but the same problems remain. What scares me is the influence Kovalev has on all the young Russian players...when he goes in the tank, many of the other Russians seem to go into the tank. I may be way off base here, I actually think Kovy ranks in the top 3 when it comes to sheer talent in NHL history...but this is not even close to the first time I've had the nagging feeling that his work ethic and influence were questionable. I hope I'm dead wrong and I'm not pointing fingers...just sharing a nagging concern of mine that seems to pop up EVERY season. Of course the other prime suspect is always Koivu...I hope both of these trains of thought are 100% wrong as they are both such awesome players when they're on.

There have been multiple accusations of cliques within the team and a whole slew of suspects have been dispatched one way or the other...yet the same problems seem to come up EVERY season. Just makes me scratch my head a bit...

For the record, I still believe in this team 100% and think this will be a season that will make us forget many recent seasons. If these problems need to raise their ugly head...I'd rather it get sorted out in the first 20 games!!!

  2. I don't get the posts putting down Lucic because he wouldn't fight BGL.

He has battled hard with Komi for two seasons. Komi is a big, hard hitting man. They had good reason to fight each other.

We are sad because Komi got his ass handed to him, BADLY.

    Crappy game :puke:

    If you missed the fight:

How badly did he really lose? Lucic's hand is hurting like a son of a bitch today and the trainer had to clean blood off of Komi's helmet :-)

  3. Why would I worry? I didnt expect them to finish the season 82-0. We're just in November. I'd rather they get those games out of their system now and learn from them. Remember past seasons? Remember the Sens last season? They go off to an amazing start, everything is perfect in October, November, December.. then they hit a slump in Jan/Feb and never recover.

Ups and downs are inevitable. It's all in the way you deal with them. And panicking and wanting to demote X and callup Y and trade Z isnt the way to do it.

Not a big listener huh K. Of course we won't win 82 games. Of course we will have ups and downs. At least 3 games in 14 we've looked like a Junior B team that wasn't trying...that kind of attitude is a lot scarier than being 500 but competing every game.

And I'm breaking my own rules by bickering when our 9-3-2 loses a game, no matter how badly. See ya all next game...hope Jekyll & Habs are Habs :-)

  4. why hate on laraque? he can't jump anyone, i counted 3 times in one shift he asked thornton to go, the 4th line was the only line that did anything tonight, a fight wasn't going to win us anything tonight, the team was shit period

We should be hating on our talented players who once again failed to show up, and on price who failed to make the saves we needed him to make

The point is he can't just ask people to fight, when you're up 4-1, 5-1, 6-1, why would you agree to fight Laraque? He needs to hit, and agitate so these guys have no choice.

G.L."Excuse me, would you care to fight?"

S.T. "No thanks Georges, we're currently wiping the ice with your team."

G.L. "Right you are, frightfully sorry for asking".

  5. Something is not right with this team. How can they pay 2 horrible games and a great game in between in less than a week??

My guess is that too many players on this team think they can get by just on their talent. No hard work from this team!!!Pathetic!

Agreed 100%. I think too many of these guys are believing the hype around them that they're so talented. Not any call for panic yet, I'd much rather this happen in the 1st 14 games than the last 14...they have time to work this out but common guys, wake up!

I'm ready to pull the plug on Laraque...he's a useless coward. I hope Steve Bégin is never made a healthy scratch in favor of that big pile of chickenshit again. At least Begin has heart...Laraque has none.

I'm hoping he's fighting a nagging injury because if this is the real Laraque why bother.

  6. You guys crack me up sometimes.

Best team we've had in basically two decades; yet people keep trying to blow things out of proportion and find problems every bad game. When it's not the players who arent scoring enough or fighting enough, it's the coaches.

Its one bad game. It happens. Its a good character builder.

There's nothing more to it than that.

I agree it's the best team we've seen in decades. But like I said above, it's very worrisome that they can follow up the best game I've seen in years with the worst. The last few years this wouldn't have bothered me as much...but right now with this teams talent, getting blown out 6-1 by a division rival and rolling over and playing dead worries me about the teams character. Too many guys were just going through the motions, does that not worry you at all?

  7. Bah, they definitely need an attitude adjustment but I'm not sure about the scary coaches part. That's juniors stuff. Though I wouldnt want to be around Muller & Carbo when they get angry.

I say that because this is a very young team with around 11 guys under 25...a tougher no nonsense coach who screams at you instead of calling you out in the media might be what a young team would respond better to. Just my 2 cents, but this team is horribly inconsistent...losing 3-2 or 4-2 is one thing, this will be the 3rd time in 14 games they've lost allowing 6 (or more) goals and that's just brutal...especially when they keep giving glimpses of what they are capable of when they're sharp. One or two guys out to lunch is no cause for alarm, 15 or more out to lunch MULTIPLE TIMES points all fingers at the coach.

  8. LOL, one bright spot...Lucic sure kicked the shit outa Komi's helmet.

This team has an attitude problem, of this I am sure. They come off one of the best Habs games I've seen on Tuesday and turn in a pile of crap like this tonight?!?! Hate to say it, when a young team starts believing how great they are after one win...that is the coaches fault. These young guys might need a much scarier coach.

  9. Ahh another evening of Jekyll and Habs. Some nights they're meek and mild (tonight) and others they're a monster (last game).

I love Price, and someday he'll be a great but right now...

some nights he's like Jacques Plante and others he's like a house plant

This is hard to watch every other game...hopefully these guys learn how to spell consistency soon! It's not all Price's fault, the team is stinking...but he's not helping

  10. The thing is... we already know we're a great team. That doesn't give us an excuse to give the least amount of effort necessary in each game to get them the win. I said before the season that with a team so skilled, every game we lost this year would be the mark of a gross lack of effort. I think these first 10 games have proven that. We've played at what, 50% of our potential? And we're 8-1-1? Imagine if the players actually started to try!

Wammer said it best, it really looks like these guys are believing their press clippings and that's very dangerous. The good new is there's lots of season left to "fine tune" attitudes.

I feel bad for the Isles. It's like the Habs played them, giving them false hope and in the 3rd said "Alright, time to start the game now"

Bah, feel sorry for abused animals..screw the opponent!

  11. And we are winning.. ye of little faith...

You know they don't get out of bed until the 3rd against teams like this...

Doesn't change that they played like crap for over 50 minutes against and awful team...that's still worrisome. I saw Danis play like this more than once in Hamilton last year...start good finish bad...that's why he's not a habs. Still, 2 points would be awesome tonight!!!
