  1. LOL! Its ok but I really would like it if they said the last name, Price.

I checked again and I think it will only say the name if its already a name of an exisiting player in the game. Too bad - I think EA dropped the ball on that part big time.

  2. So U have to create the player first, then go in after the fact and edit....??? I went with NHL08 because I heard it was better than NHL2k but at least 2k had a good create-a-player.

  3. Hi ppl - just got NHL08 for PS2- love it but one ques:

instead of having those stupid nicknames for created players, is there any way the commentary can say the last name or even the # of the created player? Carey Price was not on the roster so I had to create him and all I hear is: GREAT SAVE BY ICEMAN! ICEMAN STOPS ANOTHER ONE!

  4. Hey fans! Nice to be back!

Heard from a very reliable source here in Ontario, actually is Bill Waters, mentioned that the chances of Sundin playing next season with either NYR or MTL is very strong as opposed to him joining back with the Maple Laughs. Apparently he was close to coming here at the trade deadline for a few players, notably Higgs.

Just wondering what everyone feels if he does come to Mtl.

I think him playing on a line with Saks and Kovalev would be great! We need a big centre. Lets get him Gainey!

  5. The really sad part about this is the fact that it wasn't Roy's worst game at all. For whatever reason, his defense completely left him out to dry. And then Tremblay left him in there to embarrass him. Then he made an easy stick save, the fans went wild (in irony) and he raised his arms in mock salute.

The trough from which the Canadiens have finally dug themselves was dug by Reggie Houle and Mario Tremblay. The former for his intensely poor GMing skills, and the latter for pissing off more players than you can shake a stick at.

Incidentally, when Houle was fired, it was after it was quite apparent he was finally getting the hang of his job. His last moves had all been fairly good. Biggest problem with him, though, even at the end: he had no plan. It was GMing by the seat of his pants. In contrast, Gainey has a plan and it's VERY obvious to everyone.

Ohh totally. Its amazing how just a couple of ppl can turn a vintage franchise into the toilet for so many yrs. Thank the Lord we have someone now that has a plan.

Houle and Tremblay s/b lynched from ever stepping foot into anything pertaining to the Habs.

  6. Hi fans!

Just wondering if anyone has a link to the final game and/or the link to the clip of Roy where he goes up to Ronald Cory behind the bench and tells him he is done in Mtl....???

Would love to watch it again as bitter as it is.

    thanks!

  7. .....to continue on with Harry's comment(s) -

Huet right now is in the final yr of a 3yr contract. Who knows what he would be asking for in the summer, which I imagine would be a considerable rise. So we don't even know if we would be able to re-sign him.

I think Bob did ok on this one.

At least we get something, in draft pick which is better than getting nothing if he is gone in the summer. And lets also remember, the Habs are the 3rd youngest team in the NHL. Don't expect them to set the world on fire in the playoffs. The fact they have done this well is a bonus. So to have ppl say "I don't want to go into the playoffs with 2 rookie goalies" - who cares! Were we expecting to be hoisting the Cup in June? Nope. They are in the midst of building.

  8. So is this why I shouldn't get in a pissing contest with a 'skunk', you'll insult me to the core with stinging barbs like 'tool'? Do you mind actually responding to the post I was agreeing with, or can you only muster a cliché like 'rose-coloured glasses' as your argument? Off to bed now, little one.

Awwwww I am soooooo sorry.

I prostrate myself before you and beg your forgiveness.

  9. This is pretty much my view, I'm by no means the biggest Koivu fan, I've argued for him and against him on this board. The bolded part especially is where people here tend to go wonky.

sorry tool - not wonky just see what we see. Try taking off the rose-coloured glasses.

  10. He is not prepared nor will he ever be to be Captain. Its obvious. He was made captain when a bunch of losers ran the team into the ground after '93 and didn't know how to run a hockey club.

I am sure Gainey will see how this team needs a change of captancy and will address this prob in the near future. How long will we stick with this guy and his inconsistency???? He can't grab the team by the throat cause he doesn't know how to.

(Ohhhh and Neech - I would be careful - don't get into a pissing contest with a skunk) ^_^

  11. Who's the man who is such a goddamned moron that he can't stop taking offensive zone penalties that suck the life out of his team. No, check that...who's the man who takes TWO such penalties, like a Useless Little Bastard???

This clown can't put 3 consecutive decent games together....I really do hate his F-ing guts.

.... better not let Neech see that - he might say Sak was taking the two penalties to actually help the Habs. You know, cause thats what a "good" captain does.

  12. This is stupid. So Neech doesn't know talent if it bludgeoned him over the head.

Habs are in first place - thats all that matters right now. They are playing good hockey, thanks esp to such players as Kovalev, some nice goaltending from Huet and Pricey Price (Notice I give no honorable mention to Crappy Saky there Neech!!)

I say, lets drop this crap and move on. GO HABS GO! :hlogo:

  13. He was our best player last year, and pretty much carried us. We didn't make it to the playoffs, but there were 20 other players on the team who deserve more blame for that. And can you count how many captains have brought their team a Cup since 1999? Yeah, it's about 5 give or take a few. And all of them have done it with teams that have finished 3rd in their conference in points or better. So my comment stands about your standards for a captain, which are unreasonable. We've got a good one, not the best, but better than most.

Our best player last yr? Points yes. But in the NHL, there is something called a plus/minus - no doubt U know nothing about that. In 06/07 he was a minus 21. MINUS. That isn't a positive. In fact, thats 3rd WORST on the team.

Perhaps your standards when it comes to being a captain is unreasonable, since it appears that only standard U go on is points.

  14. No need to be foolish. I never said I knew what it was to be a captain, I said that you didn't. Niether of us are in any position to make a judgment of his leadership abilities, but that obviously doesn't stop you. And I never said that he was the greatest captain of all time, so comparing him to Scott Stevens who led his team to multiple Cups is a bit steep. You know that there are 30 captains in the NHL right now, and someone like you would only be satisfied with maybe 5 of them. Not everyone can be Scott Stevens. And where were you when Koivu took the team by the throat for all of last season? And every playoff series he has ever played? You just like to rush to judgment, and your memory is obviously pretty short.

Ahhhh ok. Perhaps your memory isn't as good as it should be. I can't recall him grabbing the team by the throat last yr and if he did it was piss-poor cause look where they ended up. Its true not everyone can be a Stevens but I am not rushing to any judgement at all - its the facts. We've had him as cap since 1999 - buddy he doesn't have what it takes. End of story.

Just like U are not in a position to make judgement of "leadership abilities", don't make a judgement as to what I consider a good Captain.
