  1. "Upgrading" Gorges with Boyle? If that were to happen, colour me decidedly unconvinced. Another multi-year deal to an older player we remain on the hook for? The only way I see it making sense is if we sign him for one year with the assumption that the kids will take over. But theres a lot of risk there. I would hope its one of the other bigger defensive names out there. Or perhaps a shocker for a forward or two.

  2. I understand his disappointment, however hockey is a business. Montreal wasn't going to the media with this, he did. Not that I blame him, but for outsiders to say they don't like how its being handled... well I'm not sure I agree. I like Josh. Good character guy, above average in his own zone. Still, really only a 4/5 guy on a solid defensive team. If we can make the team better either through trade or by bringing in a UFA with his dollars freed, then it's a good hockey decision.

Still and all, though, he's been a great member of this club and one of the reasons we're better today than we were when we got him.

  3. Id be happy to pay Weaver more than 1M and play him in the top 6. Sheesh. Unless we're players in the UFA market, we look somewhat thin on the back line. I know everyone is dreaming about our kids, but I'm still not convinced. Love to be proven wrong, but.

  4. If Ehrhoff is so good, then why was he traded for a fourth and then a conditional 7th? Seems to me his stock is plummeting and the Sabres don't even want to pay him $4m. And while he got points on the worst team in a while, did he do that because he was incompetent defensively?

  5. I've pushing for Kane since before the jets finally fired Noel. I think they want guys that can play now, rather than prospects though. Pleks-gorges-moen-pateryn-1st for Kane-bogasian is what I'd offer.

Don't need to go anywhere near that high. Kane's value is plummeting. We're talking picks and prospects here and maybe a serviceable forward.

  6. Word out of Ottawa (here) is that Spezza had all the western Canadian teams on his list of no-trade. Montreal and TO were okay. Of course, trading for this guy is kinda like trading for a big, fuzzy bunny.

The O'Reilly situation could force the Avs hand on Stastny. He's smaller than Spazza but is a lot more consistent.

  7. I suspect Bergevin will be kicking the tires on Kane. Lots of displeasure with the player in the Peg and while they don't want to give up on him, they may need to get something for him before his stock potentially drops lower. Doubtful it's even a roster player, at this point, or if it is, it won't be an impact player.

  8. Interesting. Explain why - ?

He's small, soft, doesn't really go in the corners, and while he has slick hands, he doesn't consistently use them. I suppose as a bottom-6 guy he's okay, but really, we already have Bournival, and while the latter's hands are made more of stone, he plays harder. I'd be really disappointed picking up Jokinen - other than watching him in the shoot-out.

  9. Try to see from another perspective. Maybe the group knows Desharnais is having a hard time and Pacciorety (arguably one of the players that can impact the most) is trying to boost his morale by tying Desharnais in a key role.

If that's what it is - Pax supporting DD by saying whatever it takes - then great. But I heard Pax, and his tone did nothing to convince me he wants to be without DD.
