  1. Words cannot describe my disgust with the ref'ing of this game...the blatant miss calls was unthinkable. I hope these two refs are suspended for the playoffs, this is why refs should have to answer media after the game and be accountable...how can you have any faith in a league where this can happen.

Because when you blame the refs, you're considered a whiner.

It is playoff hockey. Teams crowd the crease. Montreal needs to do the same, end of story.

THe Habs had a 5-4 lead with a minute to go, how did the refs affect the tying goal?

About 10 seconds before the tying goal, Markov got hit in the face with a stick.

    Just ask Pierre Maguire.

  2. It's not about being 'lights-out', it's about being good enough to give your team a chance to win.

Huet posted a .909 save percentage against Philadelphia...he gave them a solid chance to win in a tough series decided in game 7 overtime.

Price? I think it was .865?? 15 goals on 104 Flyers shots against. The Habs managed to win just one game.

Huet was mediocre, but hsi numbers were good enough to give a team like the Habs a chance.

Prices numbers in the first round were good. I believe something like 925 to finish off Boston? Better than Huet's. Now let's say Huet was good enough to make his team reach the second round then you could compare the second round to the second round ;)

There is no such thing as being good enough to give a team a chance to win. Without a star goalie, rarely do teams get anywhere in the playoffs.

I do agree that Price played pretty bad this round, I think this was a great learning experience and will have a positive effect on his future as the starting goalie of the montreal canadiens.

  3. A big centre that can win faceoffs, battle for position to set screens, and score dirty goals in tight to the net.

Another solid D-man, preferably one that can also make a good first pass out of the zone.

...don't want to beat a dead horse, but I REALLY think we need a veteran tender in the mix to hold the fort when Price stumbles...as he obviously will at times

If only we had you as gm...

  4. Don't blame Gainey for trading Huet.

We would not have gone far with Huet either. He is a good guy, but doesn't have the stuff to carry a team all the way.

Price did not show it this time, but I believe that he, some day, he will carry the Stanley Cup on the ice with a Canadien sweater on his back.

    JMHO

As Tony Marinaro said on Team 990, what the hell has Huet done? How many games has he truly played lights out?

Oh well... I guess when people have an agenda.

  5. He better do a damn fine job, given how it's obvious that he screwed up on the Huet deal. That second round pick better turn into something significant, given that it most likely cost us a trip to the third round this year.

It cost us a trip to the third round? Did you ever see Huet play against Philly? That soft goal from the blue line he let in?

    Get a clue.

  6. Hope your right.

BTW, what the hell is up with his glove hand, he can't catch any more?

For me Wednesday is a critical moment in the series. Obviously for the fact that we could be down 3-1 but also for how the rookie goaltender handles the pressure. For sure he is in a big slump but this is the time when he has to find himself. He usually steps out of a bad game with a good performance but I think he has reached the point where he is unsure if he can and that`s where he needs to step back and seek guidance.

Maybe from the veterans on his team?

  7. It's a tough call, the team really rallied in front of Halak, but was it Halak or the 5 minute major or Carbo screaming at them after the 2nd? I'm not going to say Price is on top of his game, but bonehead moves like O'Byrne skating in front of him as the shot is being taken is not helping him any. It's up to Carbo and Melanson to get in to Price's head and see if he's ready for game 4. Halak has not been playing much hockey the last few months, he may not be the savior a lot of you guys are hoping he is...he only had to make what, 2 saves tonight...and he looked shaky on one of them. The good thing going in to game four is; we won the third period big time and the power play got two goals. Win game 4 and we're back in the drivers seat.

I can't find any post game comments from Price. I'd really like to hear what he has to say

  8. As for being down 2-1. It is not the end of the world that everybody would believe.

1991 - Pens trailed the Devils 2-1 and 3-2 and won the Cup

1992 - Pens trailed the Caps 3-1 and won the Cup

1993 - Habs trailed the Nords 2-0 and won the Cup

1994 - Rangers trailed the Devils 3-2 and won the Cup

    1995 - Devils never trailed

1996 - Avalanche trailed the Blackhawks 2-1 and won the Cup

    1997 - Wings never trailed

1998 - Wings trailed Phoenix 2-1 and won the Cup

1999 - Stars trailed the Avs 3-2 and won the Cup

2000 - Devils trailed the Flyers 3-1 and won the Cup

2001 - Avs trailed the Devils 3-2 and won the Cup

2002 - Wings trailed the Canucks 2-0 and the Avs 3-2 and won the Cup

    2003 - Devils never trailed

2004 - Lightning trailed the Flames 3-2 and won the Cup

2006 - Hurricanes trailed the Canadiens 2-0 and Sabres 2-1 and won the Cup

2007 - Ducks trailed the Red Wings 2-1 and won the Cup

We will see how good both teams are in the next game. If Montreal is worth anything they will step up

next game and even the series up.

Obviously I mean it is never lights out for any team. You always have to battle and battle and battle. If you can't battle, you won't win. We'll pick it up. Round 2 is not where it ends.

  9. I love the nickname Jesus Price, but the expectations have exceed those placed on guys like Brodeur and Luongo,

and people are not going to be satisifed til he turns water into wine.

Does anybody really believe that Halak would have stopped the two roof jobs in Game 2? Or the Briere goal that even if

stopped had nobody within a mile to stop Prospal from tapping home the rebound?

In any other city in the NHL this kid would not have to put up with these expectations. And people wonder why Briere

    did not want the pressure.

I agree. Anyways he's a great goalie and he will be strong tonight.

  10. It's premature to even be thinking about starting Halak...but I would consider making a mid-game switch if it's obvious Price is off his game and allows more than one stinker.

Anything less than a shutout and people talk about Price like he is off his game.

He's not perfect, he's going to let in goals, and sometimes they will be those he will want to have back.
