  1. I also am surprised that Halak is starting. Gives us a better chance, though. Martin is impressing me more and more as the season wears on.

Surprisingly, I also think Price has to get back in soon. I'm hoping that the competition for playing time will improve his game. I'd much rather have *2* young good goalies, than one.

Price will get in for one of the back-to-backs. He'll get Toronto if Halak wins tonight, Chicago if Halak loses.

  2. Our OT performances make me think about 1993...

The one-goal games are scaring the hell out of me. I like the look of the team, but it's really easy for tie games to go the other way. Teams that win a lot of one goal games tend to be due for a correction later in the year. Hopefully the 2nd line comes together and/or Markov comes back before some of the luck runs out.

  3. As for Stewart, well, Martin probably needs to evaluate him a little bit more. If he doesn't deliver, why not call up Pyatt, Trotter or Ryan White and give them a shot at the big league as utility players?

well, I believe Stewart is subject to waivers and I calling up one of the minor leaguers while keeping Stewart up would put a strain on the already untenable cap situation.

  4. More than likely, someone else will be injured. If not, look for Bergeron to take the place of whichever forward is struggling.

Yeah. If nobody is injured, I'd expect MAB on the 4th and Gill to sit most of the time.

If Bergeron can keep up his play and can be locked up long term at a reasonable price, I wonder if Weber is used in a trade package. He probably has limited value, but he is looking more and more likely like a guy who, if he ever gets a permanent spot in the NHL, will be essentially a PP specialist. Once you have Markov, Bergeron, and Spacek, do you really need a Weber? Especially if in 1-2 yrs PK can do the job and actually play 5 on 5 minutes?

  5. Can we keep Bergeron long term?? I can't believe he was sitting at home waiting for an offer. A francophone offensive defenceman, perfect...

I think it depends on how far along Subban is at the end of the year. I think there is a hope that he can provide Bergeron's offence and play a better all around game. Now Bergeron is cheap (for now), so maybe they can coexist, but remember that they have to be looking forward to replacing Hamrlik's minutes and Spacek is supposed to have some of the PP skills we need...
