  1. 6'00", 201 pounds. He is not that small.

I know he did not show much this season, but he has got good speed, is a fair stick-handler and his shot is above average. I feel that with two good linemates, he would look a lot better. As for his defensive play, I believe that he has enough hockey sense to play both ends of the rink.

If only he would stop putting that shot of his right into the goalies stomach.

  2. Had we potted more of our early chances (give Gio and Pou time since they're coming off long-term injuries) I suspect all the bitching and whining about lack of system would be much different. Defenders stood up much more, wingers were back more than usual, and we were overall better defensively. Halak faced infinitely fewer shots and we should have won that game with any kind of luck since we badly outplayed the Sens in the first half of the game and were only barely outplayed in the second half. The fact that Leclaire won this game probably escapes many who only see the loss and assume it's Montreal's fault.

Sometimes you play against the Halak's who stop pretty much everything. We played against that guy tonight. Is it so difficult to see the improvement in the overall play of the game?

The announcers, l'antichambre dudes, everyone but guys on THIS board saw a huge improvement tonight.

I guess I know who I should listen to.

No system. We suck. Halak should have won that game. No scoring. Pouliot sucks. Gomez sucks. Everyone sucks. Let's go for the first OA pick. Whine whine whine bitch bitch bitch. Christ, even when we're the better team there's more whining that a schoolyard filled with little girls.

Totally agree. We were all over the sens for the first 2 periods. Gotta give credit where credit is due. Leclaire was outstanding. Although the fourth line played a little too much for my liking when we were down by one. Overall a very strong effort.

  3. ON RDS they said he wither hurt his back crashing into the post, or he may have cut his arm on Hedbergs skate! Graham Rynbend was running after the Atlanta doctors looking for help with something serious!

Un freakin believable. I doubt it was his back because he seemed to jump up pretty quickly after scoring. Something like a cut though he may not have noticed for a second or 2. Hopefully he is ok.

  4. I've followed and played hockey my entire life, yada yada. Can someone explain why we look good killing penalties, and look like we're getting good on the powerplay, yet look like a junior B team at even strength?? I loved the Jacques Martin hiring, but I'm getting worried.

Not a fan of the "system"?

  5. This is his 2nd game in a row that he's given up a goal like that. To be honest, in all my years watching Dryden, I can only remember one as bad. I don't recall any like those 2 with Roy - not saying they both didn't give up bad goals, but not ones like that.

And whoever said it earlier about killing a team, is 100% accurate.

I'm not gonna say anything more about Price. What's the point? (Except maybe one more thing: better get used to it folks, cause *this* is the future).

I don't like him. I don't think there's any future with him. And I really am done talking about him. This is the last time I'm gonna waste angst on this guy.

You had better take another Viagra then because Roy gave up a ton of softies. Your memory is far too subjective. Rick Natress from centre ice. No screen. In fact after the first 2 games in the 93 playoffs people were crying for Red Light Raccicot to start.

  6. You know, it's a little bit frustrating. Some people here are dumping all over the Habs, saying the penalties are their fault, they're not working, etc. I don't agree. Most of you already know my theory about the refs. Have you ever considered that we're getting outshot, etc. BECAUSE of all the penalties against us? Are you watching the same games I am? As I said, I slo-moed some of our penalties and they were complete bullshit. That holding call against us in the 1st I think it was. He simply did not hold. So why was the penalty called?

I know the Bell Centre fans bray every time a habs falls, and I'm not influenced by that. But again, be honest, how many times have you seen us called for a non-existent penalty, and then later see a habs being mugged with no call? Why do you suppose this happens?

So did this Bias just start this year? Did the refs just all of a sudden start hating the province of Quebec? Because while we are last in powerplay opportunities this year, last year we led the league. That's right nobody had more powerplay chances then the Habs. The year before that we were 5th in powerplays.

Keep in mind that the refs also don't come with built in PVR's, they don't have the benefit of Slow motion replay. A penalty is not a reviewable play unfortunately. So it's not like they can just go upstairs to check it. Most times if a ref sees a player take one hand off his stick and place it around another player or on there shoulder they are going to call a hold, the player know they are not allowed to do this, and the players who are being "held" know when they need to sell it.

We are also leading the League in giveaways. (by a huge margin btw. 469 for the Habs. The next closest is Edmonton with 382. Phoenix is best with 154 giveaways) You don't think maybe the amount of times we give away the puck forces us to panic a little more and grab on a little bit more?

Anyway I hate defending the refs because nobody yells at their TV more than I do. But I also know that there are BS calls made against every team.

  7. wow a ticky tack call went the babs way? Write it down on the calendar. How do the habs play the cleanest team in the league every single game. 25 consecutive games with 4 pp or less. How do teams that give up more shots while taking fewer shots wind up with way more pps on a regular basis than the habs. Can't find a team with a streak longer than a few games going without 5 or more pps.

Most penalties that are called are not of the "dirty variety" They are called for hooks, holds, and trips. That has nothing to do with being clean or dirty. It's caused by being outworked. Until the Habs are able to get some sustained pressure on teams for long periods of time they are most likely going to come out on the short end of the stick. Because they are not forcing other teams to grab on.

Hopefully when Markov comes back his offensive instinct and breakout passes will force other teams to be out of position, and they will take a few more penalties against us. And maybe because he more often then not comes away with the puck when battling for it on the boards that will limit the other teams pressure/territorial advantage, causing us to take less of those desperate penalties.
