  1. Does anyone else watch NHL power play on the NHL network? Mike Johnson (former habs) was making his cup prediction and mentioned the best part of a Washington championship. If a team that is all offense wins the cup all the other coaches will fall in and put more effort on scoring goals and less effort to stopping them. This would make the NHL way more exciting and could hopefully be the end of JM. So if we lose here's hoping for a Caps/Hawks final.

  2. San Jose- Colorado is too young to beat the choke artists

    Chicago- Too much fire power

LA- Vancouver will come in with huge heads, and LA has a pretty good team

    Detroit- Experience

    Montreal :B) - nuff said

Philly- Someone has to be upset. I didn't like Marty in the Olympics

Buffalo- If Savard was in I would consider Boston, but Miller will easily shut down these clowns

Crosby- Not sure how Ottawa even made it this far. The Pittsburgh Crosbys will sweep them again.

  3. So you're saying our chances are better?

Not exactly... I'm saying Jaro hasn't played either the caps or the sharks this season, so a seven game series with the Caps might be a blood bath. It's one thing to shut down Atlanta when they get forty shots, Washington is miles ahead of anyone Halak's played.

  4. You mean

Also funny to see Jokinen be the one that screws it for the Rags. Lame attempt.

Ecstatic the Wings won, no one should be surprised if the Avs pull off an upset. We've been great against the Sharks all season (season series is 2-2 but should technically be 3-1 for the Avs. We deserved to win that game on March 28th)

Shooting Olli Chokinen instead of Gaborik is a mistake methinks. Not sure what Torts was doing.

The 3 Quebec players scored in the shootout! Too bad the Rangers didn't have another one hehe

Well yes we get the Caps. We actually have a positive record this year against the Caps. 5 pts in 8 games.14GF 15GA

Our record vs the Caps: 2-1-1

    Fri, Nov 20 W 3 - 2

    Sat, Nov 28 OTL 3 - 4

    Tue, Jan 5 L 2 - 4

    Wed, Feb 10 W 6 - 5

Thing is Jaro hasn't played them all season. All those games are Carey.

  5. I would probably take NJ over Wsh in the first round, simply because Halak hasn't played the caps this year. With his struggles this last week I don't think Ovy and the Caps will really help him. But then again we do have our ace in the whole Carey Price similar to Cam Ward a few years ago. We are one of the few teams in the East this year who have a (more than) capable backup goalie.

  6. Getting off topic with Thornton but I just thought I'd remind people of this absolute laugh. Anyone remember when the 2006 playoffs started that Joe showed up and played game one with a very dark sun tan. That much of a tan will dehydrate. I decided to pay special attention to him. Yep, he was slower than his usual self.

Imagine one of our players showed up over tanned like that. We'd want a lynch mob.

Remember two years ago when the habs had a road trip to florida, and had a few extra days off? Carey got way too much sun and was burnt to hell when he picked up the SO against Florida. Everyone made sure too pat Carey nice and hard on his burns to congratulate him.

  7. IMO: Gomez is mostly paid as a player that delivers in the post season. The only way to judge having him and the contract is to see what PPG he delivers in the playoffs (assuming we make it). After all, Gomez has 49 points in his last 46 playoff games.

So, if we make the playoffs and he doesn't make noise than yeah, he's highly questionable. However, PPG in the playoffs is worth 100 times more than regular season PPG is worth. I don't expect my little rant to reassure the Gomez concerns from other fans. I am simply stating that I reserve judgement.

His 49 points in his last 46 playoff games is not too shabby.

Bet Joe Thornton would trade all his regular season success for numbers like those, not to mention a couple rings.

  8. 4-2 now, 1 minute left. B's are making the playoffs.

If we win tonight we still pass them though. Their last game is against Washington, and the caps are all trying to set records so don't expect Washington to just roll over.

  9. doesn't matter if they get in or not. They got a find a way to dump Gomez, hamrlik, Gill and I really don't want to see Bergeron back either. But the number one guy that win, lose or tie that has to go is the Penguin!!!

just beat me to the punch! the scenirio that seemed improbably last Monday is starting to play out

I think Gomez deserves another year where he has some chemistry and some healthy line-mates. Gill may be old and slow, but he is a cup champ and a leader, not to mention dynamite on the PK. Hammer only has one year left on his contract and I think it would be a smart move to keep him, and pair him with Subban next year. Most people in Calgary credit Dion's great development to Hammer. Spacek would be the one I look to dump, because he has more years remaining on his contract, and IMO he does less than Hammer. Subban coming up will probably make MAB redundant, but at his current salary I wouldn't mind keeping him in the pressbox. I agree 100% that JM needs to go.

  10. Yeah, I had to watch myself yesterday at Easter dinner. Calgary had already lost so everyone there was pretty down but they were all sure San Jose would beat us. I kept telling them we played them tight all year and had a good shot at winning but no one believed me. Check the score a couple hours later, it's 4-2 for the Avs. I had a mini celebration. Although I came home and saw the Sharks came back but whatever we still won.

What sucks though is Mueller is out indefinitely with a concussion. Apparently Blake laid down a dirty hit but wasn't penalized. That Wolski/Mueller trade has been fantastic for both teams. Mueller compliments Duchene much better then Wolski did, 20 points in 15 games. But I'm pretty sure Wolski has been great for the Yotes as well.

The magic number is 4 right now. 2 Colorado wins, 2 Calgary losses or 1 of each puts us in the playoffs.

I went to the Flames/Sharks game last night... just awful... if kipper can`t steal them the game it`s a guarateed loss. The fans seem to be turning on Iggy judging by the number of people who joined in on the "where's the captain?" chant. If the habs could snatch up Iginla and reunite him with Cammy I would give up pretty much any asset (other than Subban).

  11. BREAKING NEWS

    Montreal's Netminder Halak Arrested

"On Friday, April 3rd 2010, Montreal Canadiens 24 year old netminder Jaroslav Halak was arrested in his hotel room in downtown Philadelphia. His teammates and Canadiens coaching staff were baffled by what they saw. Halak was handcuffed and escorted out of his room and into an armoured vehicle by two armed police officers. Their were several witnesses in this matter who came forward and also video evidence accusing Montreal's netminder of the theft of a Hockey game win and 2 precious points from the Philadelphia Flyers at the Wachovia Center. After 2 hours of interogations, the Flyers dropped all charges against Halak as they did not have the offense to solve him.

Halak was escorted to the airport and, along with the rest of his team, is on his way back to Montreal.

This is C.I.H. reporting in from Philadelphia."

The hundred year curse strikes again. ;)

  12. the goalies are not the problem...its the fans.....As a habs fan iam getting sick and tried of how we are treating price and showing every ufa how we treat the players on the team...it was the same with koivu......Iam not from montreal but what i have come to learn is 90% of fan out side of montreal thinks price is the real deal and just need a couple of years...But every time i watch a game price is being booed...I dont get it...

Every goalie as bad games roberto luongo let in 8 last night and most fans in montreal would love to have him..price let in 2 and the world ends..as a habs fan i feel shame...I become the joke at the office thanks to these boo birds...THEY ARE HURTING THE TEAM AND OTHER FANS IN CANADA..I watch for years how fans cut up koivu and ran other great players out of town and then have to listen to the same fans blame the gm for moving them...

So iam asking habs fan to come together and support the player that wear the :hlogo: ...

Couldn't agree more. I can't find the video, but last night Sports Net ran an interview with Hal Gill where he called out the fans and told them to stop being so ignorant.

Here is a pretty good article on it form the Gazette: http://www.montrealgazette.com/sports/hock...5661/story.html

love them referring to the Bell centre faithful as "a sodden band of morons".

Also back to the OPs original question, it mentions that the Habs have scored more than 2 goals in only 4 of Carey's 25 losses

  13. It could just be that in Montreal, an in the East in general speed is very important. While in the West size and strength are more important. It could just be a coincidence, but it seems most of the players who have success out West are big, gritty players. Lats never played up to his size in Montreal, but that could be because we always tried to make him play a system he couldn't keep up with.

  14. This loss could turn out to be a good thing. Losing to the 29th place team (while still picking up a point) could be a shot in the arm we need to keep improving our level of play. Also our power play playing so poorly will prove that, while our 5-on-5 has been good, we still need MAB back in the line-up.

  15. According to Marc-Antoine Godin of LaPresse, Pierre Gauthier contacted Don Meehan to start negotiations to extend MArkov's contract!

I don't know how much truth there is to this story, but if it's true, that's what I call being proactive!!

Anyone else thinking long term, front-loaded deal? I'll stop complaining about them if we start using them. ;)
