  1. Totally different team, even though defensively they looked the same as last year.

Well, its not right up there with starving children on the 'serious ' list, but a little prayer for les Boys is probably not the worst thing one can do. So, amen.

  2. Carey and Plex impressed me most that period. Plex is shooting, driving the net and skating like the wind. It's nice to see him play with some confidence.

Gomez seems disinterested tonight, hope that changes. Looking forward to Martin's adjustments.

I sure hope Plex gets a good wind in his sails this year. He is a terrific player when he's flying, and Price made some great stops.

    Go Habs GO!

  3. We had a season 2 years ago much like Boston did last year, and were considered a contender going into last year. I consider the team to be much improved over those teams and therefore a contender again this season. WHo is to say that the Booins don't bomb this season? I like that the media has us picked to miss out of the playoffs as they are always wrong!

We were the hottest thing on ice not long ago. Last year Gainey iced an excellent squad, but Lang's and other serious setbacks shifted the weight of expectation onto the shoulders of a rookie kid goalie. POOF!

    Man proposes, Allah disposes.

  4. good luck Breezer you were never as bad as they said and you were a true habs at heart.

Well said. You were a great Canadien Patrice with a wonderful spirit and great talent. Thanks for all the wonderful hockey with the best team in the world. You did us and you proud and I salute you.:clap::clap: :hlogo:

  5. My dad got home from work in time to watch the 3rd with me, and about 3 minutes to go he looked at me and said, "you know its nice to have players who play to win the game til the end even if theyre down a goal". I thought about it and it is a good feeling..... those boys were FLYING tonight. Can't wait til next thursday!

There certainly seemed to be energy and determination out there

Unreal game by Gionta last year none of the Habs skilled wingers went into the danger zone to score goals in the crease. Then the Habs bring in the shortest guy in the league and he whacks away and gets grimy all night long.

I LOVE BRIAN GIONTA and he is NOT overpaid. He is the type of skilled player that not matter how is producing offensively he always works hard and comes to play.

Martin looks like he might try the 3 new guys together and see how they do but after that it will be tough to separate the two devils boys.

    Hell of a pair. :hockey::clap:

  6. Just tossing up a thread quickly for anyone looking to discuss tonight's match, which will be televised on RDS if I am not mistaken.

    Lineups:

    Forwards:

    Latendresse-Plekanec-Gionta

    S. Kostitsyn-Desharnais-Wyman

    Moen-Metropolit-Glumac

    Darche-Pyatt-White

    Defence:

    Gorges-Weber

    Gill-Benoit

    Carle-O'Byrne

    Goal: Halak, Sanford

I'm glad I checked the board, cuz I would have missed the game on RDS! Thanks beaucoup!

  7. rotflmfao.

Personally I think all the different churchies and non churchies are over reacting about this. Its probably more like they are bringing in a Zen Master or Tony Robbins type guy for team unity and self worth confidence building personal enhancement stuff. I really dont think it would matter if you're Catholic, Jewish, Scientologist, atheist, etc. I would seriously doubt that there will be anything involved that would contradict anybodies religious beliefs. I'm pretty sure its not like they will be holding down the Catholic Habs and force them to use condoms, make the Jewish Habs eat pork and force BGL to eat a t-bone. :P

But then again how pissed off is Bob? I guess theres nothing like a good ole fashioned team alienating session after last years disappointing finish.

That was the point of my worthless post.

  8. Well I guess I should first apologize for steering this thread off its intial course.

Secondly I guess I could have been a little more specific about why I was so excited in the first place. I don't mind the responses given out. Guess I should be praying for all of you as well. Anyhow, what I'm excited about is that someone in the organization has thought to put these players into a retreat type situation where perhaps spirituality could be discussed and maybe bring there glamourous lives into a bit of perspective along with the team building and such. Hey after the mess of last season this could be a profound experience for them which could carry throughout the rest of the year.

Where religion is concerned, yes I do hope that my team searches out a spiritual identity Jesus loves them just as much as He loves you and me... that is why the cross.

    Anyhow how's Lang's ankle anyone?

    I'm done.

    Thanks for reading.

    Mats.

    Hi matsnaslandsuperfn

I live not far too far from that facility which is a facility for teens that got some funding from the Ontario gov't a few years back.

I'd be very surprised if there were anything specifically religious ....and I'm a Catholic incidentally, at such a team function. I most certainly think we are all well advised to attend to the sound and healthy principles of natural law, and this is, if I remember my philosophy courses at U of T, an intelligible ordering that theism makes sense of, but these practical principles which are part of a happy life, would not likely be presented in a manner beyond the common sense approach they encourage.

If I were on the team, I'd want to know where a mass was being celebrated on Sunday, but anything much beyond that from the organization would be pretty intrusive, even for me. Martin, may or may not be a religious guy... I have no idea, but outside of some formally religoius institution like Notre Dame University, even a team prayer would not dount be a little alienating for some, and a sound religious principle wouild be sensitive to this. So, something more inclusive would be more appropriate, say, like suggesting that those who pray, which is a hell of a lot of people, might want to ask God for a wonderful exciting season. Not too many folks would take exception to that as some 90% of Canadians believe quite reasonably that there must be some kind of 'supreme being', or Aristotle's Unmoved Mover.

God bless Uncle Bob and les Habs!

  9. After spending a week in Ottawa, I was surprised at how many habs fans there were - far more visibility than Sens 'fans' (understandable of course). Now in Vancouver, the lack of us is depressing.

This seems to be a natural step in evolution. Hope they make the games available to all around the planet.

God bless RDS. Living in Toronto is bearable as three times a week...way too many games for the sport...but I hate to give one up.... good old RDS, wipes away the blue, the leafy and sychophantic....and gives me les glorieux. I'd have to move if I lost them! :hlogo:
