I would give $9.8M a year to Leon Draisaitl and deal with the consequences later.

The KHL is in dire straits according to the main board. Got to be a lot of people looking for a pay check next year. I think we can do a lot better with 10M. The ball is clearly in MB's court.

Anisimov's name is out there apparently.  I stumbled on a column out of Chicago while doing prep work for my PHR shift tonight that says that Anisimov is rumoured to be on the block already. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/hockey/blackhawks/ct-spt-0519-blackhawks-trade-analysis-20170518-story.html

Given MB's affinity to Chicago players, what would it take to get him? Seems to me a step in the right direction, as far as filling needs.

Even 15 points in 50 games isn't good.  Its not even a good 3rd liner and thats combining the three together.  So what did we get, 3 fourth liners.

The lowest scoring team in the NHL in February needed more than fourth liners.

In fact with Andrighetto and Desharnais out the door, we were a less offensive team after the deadline.  This is NOT to stay that we should have kept those two.  They needed to go. However, they also needed to ADD better players than them.  Not replace them with fourth liners.

I would contribute, but you seem to be carrying the ball fine.

And they don't happen in the previous 4 offseasons when he needed a centre and didn't get one.

I would maintain that they have been undermanned at center as far back as 2003 and maybe as far back as their last  Stanley Cup. You are right about MB's  disregard for the center position the last four years. he himself may have thought he had got it right with Galchenyuk and Danault. He didn't. I believe that if he would spend half the time looking for centers as he spends looking for defenceman, that he wouldn't be in such a pickle.

If Tavares wants to sign in Montreal, I'll drive Galchenyuk to the airport.  And I've been one of the biggest Galchenyuk supporters here.

You don't turn that down.  Chuck + Beaulieu + 1st.

I'll drive shotgun just to make sure it happens. I expect we all think that that is fair value. In a free market place, I think we are a tad light.

if BlueKross is seeking a detailed analysis of differences between the two coaches, well, ya got me. Julien seems more dedicated to quick transition and speed that MT was, but other than that, I'll defer to the more refined hockey minds.

The question in my mind is are we going to see a Therrien 2, or is there going to be enough of a difference to make a difference.

  7. This will be a discussion for a long time, as always. I do appreciate Julien getting all his charges into action and keeping them fresh. This will pay dividends in the course of a long playoff run. I remember Therrien leaving marginal players on the bench for weeks and months on end and wondering why they couldn't play when they got into lineup. We are going to need everyone at their best.

  8. I don't think there is enough time between now and the trade deadline to figure out what this team is. We might have to admit that selling may be in our best option. We are quickly getting into that area, whether we choose to believe it or not. Please show up for the next couple of games. Go Habs Go

That can't happen if this team wants to make the playoffs.  Utica is picking it up and may very well get a boost with Vancouver likely to sell a player or two at the deadline.  It's time to start playing something resembling a full 60 minutes instead of showing up for a good few minutes here and there.  Enough is enough.

Don't get your hopes up. Sly's record speaks for itself.

Are you serious man? Radulov has been the engine driving this team. I'll go as far as saying Montreal wouldn't even make the playoffs without him

So expensive you lose someone else to the cap? What does that even mean. Radulov is the best player on this team

You got some young players that are going to need raises soon, Price/Galchenuk. How much are you going to have left if Radulov wants eight or nine for three years? I agree he may be our best player this year.

McKenzie mentioned yesterday he thought Galchenyuk is not an 'untouchable'.

Also, if the right deal came in for Radulov wouldn't you have to consider a move, if he is going to be hard to resign or so expensive you lose somebody else to the cap?

If memory serves, he was planning to retire, wasn't he? I doubt he's on the list,

If MT is by some miracle canned, then it will be Muller, with, perhaps, Julien signed in the off season.

(Can you imagine, though , if Bergevin decides to promote Lefebvre instead? :lol:)

I believe Gallant is still out there. IMHO, Sly should have been fired three years ago.

I think Bergevin will think that he owes Therrien a trade or two to shake things up to see how he fares with some different faces in the lineup before even entertaining the idea of a coaching change.  I say this a lot when this comes up - Sylvain Lefebvre is still coaching despite a losing record year after year and there's no indication he's getting turfed anytime soon.  If he has that much patience with a coach that only loses, he's bound to have plenty of patience for a coach that has had some success in Therrien.

Sly has got the boys in position to miss another playoff year which makes it five/six years in a row. I seriously doubt that Sly will be around to coach the new Rockets. Shame on all of them, if that comes to fruition.

I'd be shocked if Ribeiro was claimed by anyone.  Even if he can still help a team, he has a $3.5 million cap hit (and some baggage from over the years).  Why not wait to see if Nashville will eat some of the money or allow the acquiring team to send a contract back?

As Don puts it, we all hope Shaw smartens up. We got him at 3.9M till 2022. Are we going to have the same difficulty getting rid of Shaw, if push runs into shove?

  15. 1 hour ago, dlbalr said:

It's a bit of a catch-22 right now.  If he plays like this the rest of the season, no one's going to want to absorb the contract.  If he wakes up and follows it up with a good playoff run, other teams might want him but Bergevin will want to keep him.  Long story short, he's probably not going anywhere anytime soon.

Just me-- but I actually like Riberio better than Shaw-- as of today you can have him for nothing? Will be interesting how far he goes down before somebody grabs him.
