My bad maybe I wasn't to clear either... I was thinking the Habs could offer Beaulieu + Pleky  + 1st pick. Like I had said I didn't do the cap count for both teams nor really checked if the need for Jets to be right on their end... it was just a thought since there seems to be a lot of chatter out there about Nate on market

Galchenyuk has come back. The reason for Hanzal was to replace the void at center. We have done that most admirably sans Hanzal. I don't see the pressing need there was thought to be. Secondly, look for prices to drop, for secondary pieces, teams will want to get something for pieces of value they can not protect

Whether Terry was on emergency recall or not, he has already passed the 10 games/30 days mark so he'll be eligible.  I thought Andrighetto would have been eligible for waivers the last time they sent him down as he has also gone past 30 days so obviously at least one of the previous recalls was an emergency one without it being listed as one (which makes it harder to guess his actual status).  Bobby Farnham is also waiver exempt as he has yet to hit the 10/30 marks.

Farnham played 50 games for New jersey according to hockeydb-- Am I missing something?

Being French and Habs needing players, Andrighetto in waiver purgatory, so kinda thought Audette or Matteau might of got the call instead.

I am more worried when we start to get healthy. Nobody is getting through waivers these days. I think McCarron and Scherbak are the only two that are exempt from waivers.. Maybe Dlbair will comment.

Who knew the Danault trade would be so huge? Without him, we might not have been able to survive Pleks's regression. The team still needs a legit #2 C, but MB has certainly done a fine job of adding good, strong depth at C.

I don't remember who said what at the start of year, but I do remember that Danault was not highly regarded on this board. Some people never get an opportunity but the youth on this team is getting an opportunity and Danault for one is proving the naysayers wrong. Kudos to MB and staff.

It is obvious to me that he no longer has the extra step he used to. His offensive game was always based on speed, and he no longer has it. He's done as a top-6 C, but still has value as a defensive guy. If MB can trade him, I'd be all for it.

Agreed. I recall Koivu among others, whose skills depreciated and they just let him walk. Get some value for Plekanec or be content with a reduced role.

  6. You really don't know if he just has had nagging injuries all year or maybe he has lost a step. He has too much hockey acumen to not get good value for him. I don't have a problem with him getting a reduced role, much like a Stevie Y in his latter years. The waiver draft complicates this issue for me.

Where did I say he was the cause of all our troubles?

You assume I say things, that i didn't say... and then you argue against them?  Wow.

All i said against him was that he isn't scoring in the AHL, expecting him to come in and be a top 6 player in the NHL is kinda silly.   Suddenly thats blaming all of the team's problems on him.  Wow....

That might be an exaggeration;. but you have been bashing this kid since he was drafted, don't say you haven't.

Good on McCarron for perfecting his pass back to the point there.

We get that you don't like the pick. You have been bashing him ever since he was drafted. It gets old. There should be plenty of negative fodder on this team without suggesting continuously that he is the cause of all our troubles. Let the kid play, and we will see where we are in a year or so.

    Like who

Carr isn't even an NHLer, if you ask me.

Andrighetto has the skill, but can't put it together with the big boys.

Yeah there is a couple, might add Danault, Hudon, McCarron, Redmond.  I'm trying to put a positive spin on our loses. Don't count anybody out yet. Most players take a couple of years before they are bona fied NHL's.

yup, him and Beaulieu are a good pair

Yup- impressive win   Just maybe, with the injuries, some of these young guys will get substantial reps without being jerked around all over the line up. By the end of the year, our injuries may be a blessing in disguise.

im just going to throw this thought out there, with Chucky gone I don't think Habs need to sign anybody from the NHL. Instead, Radulov needs to recruit and get somebody on board from the KHL that might be willing to jump ship. Sounds like a MB dumpster dive move as well if this is possible #forthewin

I believe the question demands the answer to, "what do we do now?". Anybody coming from Russia ,at this point in time, would get snapped up on waivers. All you are doing, presuming the player had some value, is setting up another team for a score.

After wasting their best development years.... age 20-24, why would they suddenly get better elsewhere?

God, I have been saying that for years! To augment your argument of waste; would somebody tell this organization that some playoff time might make a hell of a difference to all these prodigies. We are on the cusp of not making the playoffs for another year. Keeping Sly aboard is inexcusable.

  13. I personally see some pretty good players becoming available rather than getting nothing for them in the waiver draft. Several sources have hinted that trading will become quite bullish as teams try to position themselves for the former. I would suggest that this will not be a normal year and there will be a lot more names on the list. Also,  I wouldn't be surprised if the league is rounded out to 32 teams, sooner than later. Just saying.

For less than 20games he has shown he is earning his money, but to finish season is another 80 games...so my question was...can he keep it up till June, not anything about an extension.

I agree, not after 20 games, I really meant if his current game continued. Right now this the guy we have been looking for, for I don't know how long -years. I would point out , what we don't want is to figure out that he is the real deal in June and he decides to walk into free agency. I don't wait to June to decide if we keep him or not.

Can Radulov keep it up for and be an impact guy into June? Or is he bound to struggle with the never ending NHL season?

He is the biggest surprise to me, so far this year. I had expected a more 'inconsistent' player who shone in some games but would be invisible the next, but he seems to give an honest 'Gallagher-like' effort every game...so far.

His play would indicate that he should be in for a substantial raise and term.

Most of those guys are not third-liners. They're first or second liners put further back to get some scoring balance. (Which I suppose is fair to say about Desharnais, too. He's a decent second line center. What he is not is a first line center.)

It's like Evgeni Malkin. Technically, he plays on Pittsburgh's second line. However, on 25 other teams, he'd be their first line center. The fact is Pittsburgh has 2 first line centers.

i think we will find out soon enough about Davy. Will LV even take a shot at him? Don't see him getting protected and/or another contract from Montreal.

  17. Moving the puck out of the zone has been a long standing issue. I am not a fan of how they move the puck on the rest of the ice. I see a lot of passing puck to players that are obviously covered or to areas where they have less than 50% of recovering. I am not sure that "the system" is effective in today's game.

  18. We have seen before how Therrien treats 21/22/23. We also seen what happens when you leave them on the bench for too long. Personally I would use an active 22 man bench, as it stands now, shifting players in and out on a daily basis. Players are going to need rest. However nobody can argue with the results so far, so it may take injuries to push the envelop.
