  1. I think it's great :king: ... because come April we'll be the ones laughing and enjoying the playoffs while the Leafs will be looking up at our asses ready to kiss them

Then these so call "experts" will be fired for people who actually know what they're talking about :)

  2. I'm not saying it was a bad trade for either team ... I think SJ made out alittle better ... they dump two players that were not going to play for them ... eat up cap space that they were not going to use ( and don't even hae to pay the salary ) and get a first round pick that they can use to make a trade with .... what's not to like about that if your SJ :D

  3. Basically NJ gave the Sharks a first round pick to eat up 3.6 mil in cap space ... from what i've been reading is that if malakov is technically retired still then NJ still has to pay his salary but it won't count against there cap ... and SJ picks up a first round pick for two players that will never play for SJ or probably the Devils too. I'd bet that SJ uses that pick or they're own to bolster they're own line up for a possible cup run.

Btw Lamorillo forced this on himself and his team by signing him and mogilny to those rediculus contracts. now he has to give up a 1st round pick to un do the mess he made.

  4. Interesting move ... BG must not have seen much improvement in Riberio to trade him for an underachiving Niinimaa ... either that or Carbo couldn't stand him !

I mentioned this about a week or two ago that I thought Bonk would do really well inbetween Sammy and Kovalev .... it would be like it was in Ottawa when he was centering Alfredson and Hossa. he would be the defensive forward on that line that would allow Sammy and Kovy the chance to open it up ... Riberio COULD NOT be that guy. Plecks would be the other choice.

BG signing GUI got me really excited about opening day ... now this trade makes me extatic !

    :ghg:

  5. As stupid as this may sound, for Carolina, a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush.

What I'm meaning is that I agree with calihabsfan about the possible development of Gleason as compared to the potential of Johnson.

As you all know, though Johnson is considered a potential franchise defenseman, it's not at all that rare to see high-end potential players end up floundering for one reason or another... early peaking, poor attitude, injury, etc.

Yes, LA may be getting another Rob Blake but, on the other hand, they could be getting an Aki-Petteri Berg with Tverdovsky... one never really knows. (Berg was picked 3rd overall in the 1995 draft - no mean feat.)

    :king: :hlogo: :king:

yeah as a kings fan too I remember all the "hype" about Aki Berg :puke: .... I think that because Gleason played for the Kings he's not as know as he should be ... he's already a top 4 defenseman ... allthough not very offensive ... he's the kind of player every team would love to have. he's going to be a Matty Nordstrom type ... solid , steady , leader.

  6. Pareillement !

Zhogin on the fourth will keep our team's skills level as hight as the actual roster

allows us to withought tossing away from the line-up the key PK elements present

on our depth lines, ( Begin, Bonk, Plekanec, Johnson ).

yes but Murray brings a very good physical element to the game ... I dunno if you want to lose that.

lol, or working at the local grocery store as a clerk.

    paper or plastic ?

  7. Oh he'll be just fine. Its the french and in general Quebec media who I'm worried about. People are calling him the next Lafluer. The media needs to stop it. They are only going to put things in the guys head and have way too high of expectations. There are many examples of this in sports. The best one I can think of is JD Drew. He was called the next Mantle. He crumbled under all the pressure. The media needs to stop what its saying to the poor kid or he'll end up as a Rick Ankiel. (Sorry for the baseball but thats my background and the comparisons really do fit)

Hopefully Carbo , Jarvis, BG and captian K can keep Guy grounded and teach him how to deal with the media and keep him as humble as possible :)

  8. I would guess Carolina feels Gleason will still get better ... although not as offensive as Johnson he's is very good defeinsive defensman, a solid hitter and is only 23/24 ... also I'm thinking that they feel Belanger could do what Matt Cullen did for them last year now that he's gone. they also unloaded Tverdovsky's salary

  9. Hellz yeah ! it's Jack Johnson and Tverdovsky for Tim Gleason and Eric Belanger ..... Great Trade for the kings :)

Today is a great day for me !! :king: Habs signed Gui and the Kings made a great move !

btw the Kings are my "other team" ... Thankfully they don't play the Habs much :)

  10. :king: YEEEEEAAAAHHH ! :king:

I'm excited about this ... hopefully he can really help the powerplay .... although if he and Kotsy stay then the Habs are going to have a really young team. But that's ok ... but i'm smelling some type of trade or waiver action happening. Kotsy will probably at some point be sent to hamilton ... just so he can get some top line minutes.

  11. A trade to acquire Gomez for a Perezhogin package shouldn't be too difficult for NJ to accept. The question is how to make NJ dump enough salary without us going over the cap. But I think if Gainey was considering this he wouldn't have spent 500K on Traverse when our capspace is already limited.

Though I don't think we need a #1 center anyway...

or a top pairing D, but a second pairing would be nice.

The only way for this to happen would be to involve a third team to eat some salary.

Example : Washington or someone with a bunch of cap room and needs players

    To Mtl : Gomez

    To NJ : Perezhogin , Mtl 2nd, Wash. 2nd

To Wash : Riberio, Ferland ( or something like that )

I know this isn't the greatest trade ... just wanted to show and example.
