  1. ps-I get a kick listening to PBP pronouncing Roy (the French way) and Norfolk (the east coast way)
  2. Maybe I could have used nepotism as well as Banfield's dad Charlie was an NHL linesman in the 70's. He is a protege of Mick McGeough-thank god Banfield didn't adopt McGoo's famous helicopter move that Mick used to use when waving off goals. I don't like officials who think they are the game. To borrow a quote from a friend, I don't go to a restaurant to watch the waiter. He should be in the background doing his thing. Too many officials think we are there to watch them. Right now Ciamaga seems to be the worst
  3. we refer to him as "deer in the head lights Banfield" in Hamilton. He is a complete tool. Has been a useless AHL referee for a couple years now. Cannot work alone. Use to react to noise-clean checks that make a lot of noise usually end up as penalties. I'm sure he'll be promoted via the "Peter Principle"
  4. Greg Pateryn called up Thursday night (March 7)
  5. just tuned in to the radio broadcast-did Sergio say something re Weber being hurt again??? Thanks
  6. I agree with Brian that you have to feel for Weber after his long layoff
  7. not a lot to say about this game really. I thought both teams were playing for the shootout initially. Thank god the AHL finally has video review as the referee closest to the net waved off Tenutes goal when everyone in the west end could see it was in and out off the back bar (including the goal judge). It is embarassing to think that the OHL had video review before a "pro" league like the AHL. Two rookie refs again. Funny, the same ref who waved off the goal initially, gave Tenute a real cheap penalty seconds after play resumed Regardless of what PBP said, we did have a PP goal as pointed out above by Brian--- just that it was wierd being a EN/PP. And oddly DW was working alone. It appeared also that the Heat got a roughing penalty at the 20:00 minute mark of the third when possibly Breen (?) took a shot at Zach. It doesn't show on the score sheet but I noticed the times for Irving don't seem accurate either as he was out of the net much longer than shown. Scorer must have had a hot date. (refs were ex Junior guys-Kendrick Nicholson from Sauble Beach Ont and Jon McIssac from the underwear capital of Canada, Truro NS)
  8. Ian-pretty well sure "on assignment" is the same as "on loan". ML
  9. official now-Schultz is listed as a reassignment by the Montreal Canadiens and the Bulls will make his third ECHL club this season. Other player from Utah to SF is Kory Falite. Utah received Jordan Clendening, Sebastien Trudeau, Jonathan Lesard and Cory Carlson from the the Bulls
  10. facebook page of the ECHL San Francisco Bulls is reporting that Schultz (along with Mark Isherwood who played two games for the Bulldogs this season on a PTO) have been sent (with one more player) from Utah to San Francisco in exhange for four players on the Bulls rosters. I had mentioned on another topic that the Bulls had used 49 players this year. Add three more. Confusing as hell to new fans of a first year team eh?
  11. Hamilton is amongst the fastest growing areas (real estate wise) in Ontario and the Metro Area-throwing in Burlington and Grimsby is over 700,000. And downtown is a construction zone. Rochester was the Panthers farm club for a few years in the recent past when Curt Styres of Ohsweken Speedway and Native Tobacco owned the Amerks. He was only interested in the Rochester Lacrosse club and was offered a deal he couldn't refuse. There are a lot of ex-pat Montrealers who migrated to Ontario during the early FLQ years who support the Dogs. And like me, a lot of GTA residents who don't drink the daily kool aid supplied by the Toronto media
  12. Chara has been a goon (and someone who has taken advantage of a pituitary condition) since I first saw him play with the Kentucky Thoroughblades of the AHL in 1997). www.hockeydb.com doesn't lie re the penalty minutes
  13. JMMR-there are umpteen stories re Dean Warren if you google "Dean Warren referee". This was the case that pretty well lead to Colin Campbell leaving Also, Dean Morton's name comes up in a lot of articles re folks complaining about referees.
  14. Dean Morton officiating his usual no call game. BTW-I apologize for a previous post when I identified Morton as the official who was involved in a wrongful dismisal case. I think, in retrospect, it was Dean Warren. Morton hasn't done a lot of games lately though
  15. It couldn't have hurt to put Dumont in for a game
  16. are the fans/p.a. announcer in Boston doing that stupid "WOO" thing after goal announcements, aping the clowns in Vancouver?
  17. I've watched him for 24 games this year and really don't know what to make of him. Doesn't seem to use his size to his advantage and came with a lot of hype. Greg Pateryn is the one who impresses me most and think the Dogs would have been higher in the standings had he not got the bad elbow injury in the fall
  18. definitely tough in the ECHL. From the team I saw in San Francisco in November, I think there are 5 players left on the roster. The fans, who are back watching hockey in the Bay Area after years of nothing in the way of Minor League hockey, seem quite puzzled by the turnover via their facebook posts. And a lot were not call ups to Worcester of the AHL but a lot of wheeling (no pun intended) and dealing by the management with other ECHL clubs. Pat Curcio who is from Richmond Hill, Ont is the coach and GM. The financial backers are from London (Farhi Investments) and Toronto (Pickle Barrel Restaurants). Current salary cap is $12,400 per week to cover all salaries. Players on AHL contracts make more obviously addendum: I double checked and 49 players have played for the Bulls this season with 19 on the current roster. We were at home game 3 and ex Habs prospect Thomas Beauregard had already been cut by that time
  19. Tokarski stops 31 shots for his first shutout as a Dog. Great road game without Dumont and Beaulieu. Referee Terry Koharski (who maybe missed his calling as a script writer) called a softee on Pateryn at the 16:30 mark of the third trying to create unnecessary drama
  20. goalies must have hot dates
  21. 2-0 Dogs end of two (Pateryn & Bournival both in the first)
  22. Beaulieu not playing (injured in the last minute of play last night-slash) and Murovich not dressed either.
  23. gotta pray it's not Bob Cole and Glenn Healey
  24. I agree with the unrealistic aspect of a playoff spot but the PBP team has to show a brave face I guess until they're mathematically eliminated
