  1. I think it must have been tickets sold. Actually, once I got through the drifts at the end of my street to the semi main thorough fare, the drive to Hamilton along Plains Road took about the same amount of time as usual due to no traffic. Once we got to Hamilton, the problem that developed was none of the side streets were plowed and none of the municipal parking lots were plowed either. Turned down McNab St and saw Zach Stortini wading through the drifts in the middle of the street (Probably thought he was back in Edmonton). Went into the Jackson Square Mall circa 5:30 and most of the food court fast food places were closing up already. I think I saw some of the Texas players heading into the new Anchor Bar restaurant before the game (so they will be nice and rested for Saturday!). I'm not sure why this game couldn't have been rescheduled to Monday (except we have a game vs the Snarlies on Tuesday). The folks on the local radio were saying not to drive unless absolutely necessary. You get torn as to who to believe. One nice p.r. gesture the team did, is to give everyone who showed up tonight, a ticket for a game in March. (Tonight's game ticket to be exchanged) The date and details are to be on the website on Monday. And I won Phil Desimone's away jersey from last year. (Phil is playing for Albany this year. Last year he had very respectable points but a horrid -30 in the plus/minus) ps-I thought Ceddy looked shakey again and was fighting the puck on what would normally be easy saves. Once they got behind 2-0, it just set the standard for the rest of the game. St. Denis is out hurt and Corbin looked bad on that first goal. Time to get a new promo for the Fanz Choice -currently has Palushaj doing the naration. Save Ferris-Save Avtsin
  2. team is offering a snow day special-$15.00-blue ticket plus an outdoor classic tuque. (they can't get rid of the tuques I guess). I am at the point though that I wish they would postpone the game as the roads are still horrible. Going to leave an hr early and hope we make it.
  3. yep-the AHL has corrected the goals and score sheet except the Blacker goal still doesn't show as a PP.(we get a penalty at 19:58 and they score at 1:02) Radio crew was marvelling at the attendance but there were a number of two for one deals available. They reported some spectators did show up at 11:00 am so I guess the word didn't get out too well about the time change.
  4. Dogs win 6-4 Leblanc scores again (shortly after the Marlies had tied it) and Dumont e/n. Score sheet is not correct-Blacker goal was PP. And regardless of what Derek says, as a fan, I can believe we only see the Marlies one more time. Good for attendance but I think we hardcore would like to see a bit more variety-Providence, Worcester, Portland-anyone east of Syracuse on I-90 would do -box score on AHL website is screwed up and also shows final 6-3 as of 10pm
  5. merde-now 4-3 at 6:06 of the third. They're killing me
  6. sorry if I sounded like a smart ass above but what I meant is that I always feel the Dogs broadcasts likely get the biggest listenership for the away games and that's when Derek seems to work solo. Al goes to nearby Toronto and occasionally Rochester but that's it! I like how he can keep his eyes on the play when Derek is reading his starting lineups, left to right bit, and myriad of stats. Perhaps a non dressed player could be drafted to help with colour on the road. officials tonight: Rookie Kendric Nicholson and Darcey (Darse the Arse) Burchell (to quote Derek a "Hamilton Native") who we used to watch in Senior AAA a couple years ago. I sure Darse doesn't want to be perceived as showing Hamilton any favouritism but sometimes his non-calls are questionable. And the Marlies have two Hamilton Natives-Abbott and Syvret!
  7. guess they must have bought Al Craig a Go Ticket to Toronto . Late call in the second period on Beaulieu is a make up call plain and simple. Just wish Derek would lay off the "Hamilton Native" before every mention of Tenute or Hagel---------------------we know, we know
  8. end of first period: Dogs 2-Marlies 1 (Beaulieu and Pateryn score-first goal may be changed). Got careless at the end of a PP and Marlies Devane got a breakaway goal
  9. Colin-LOL Radley's show on CHML Hamilton concentrates on local sports and can be listened to via the internet (9-10pm each weekday). Unfortunately, the local tv station for some reason just does a bad job of trying to cover major league stuff covered much bettter by the Sports networks
  10. I was just listening to Dogs broadcaster Derek Wills on Scott Radley's nightly show on CHML. He made it sound like if Colorado try and send Aaron to the AHL within 30 days, the Habs would get him back automatically.
  11. as a Dogs fan, I thought there was a little light at the end of the tunnel this weekend. It just turned out to be a train. Is that correct then that if the Avalanche try and send him down to Lake Erie, he'd have to go the waiver route again? Could Colorado sign him to a two way? You mention Dags-he was popular in Hamilton as he had a lot of fans from his OHL days in nearby Guelph ps-I'll miss seeing Aaron's folks at the Copp's-Good People who drove from Michigan for a majority of the home games
  12. two for one deal is actually on a link you can access on the Dog's twitter posts dated Jan 29. Not sure why it was not mentioned on the main webpage or facebook
  13. that is bad! Really makes it painful that have we nine home games this month.Wonder how well attended the game will be at the Bell Centre considering the team's performance? Are the tickets being heavily discounted?. Speaking of discounts, I've noticed the local Fortinos Grocery stores have Dogs tickets available for ten bucks
  14. my wife's maiden name is Eller therefore I'm not permitted to say anything bad about Lars.
  15. Brian "Poochie" Pochmara seems to be inventing penalty calls again just like he did for years in the AHL. He seems to react to noise (as he seems to miss the actual situation in most cases). He was notorious for this when doing games alone in "A". Another head scratcher as to how he made the show. I've had enough of CBC coverage that I'm just listening to radio coverage on the computer
  16. re the broadcasting-really-overall there has to be better talent available then we get currently. You know my feelings on Bob Cole, Healey has a Maple Leaf tatooed on his behind, Hughson is Capt Canuck and going to the other networks, Johnson and Randorf have noticeable lisps. Honestly there is better talent on Sportsnet coverage of the OHL and AHL. -Ron McLean and Grapes "Organ Grinder and Monkey Routine" are really wearing thin.
  17. GEEZE, I honestly thought the CBC might give Bob Cole his walking papers. The guys is in his mid 70s and invents the game as it goes along. There must be better broadcasters available (or is it just an olds boys club as a few folks suspect).
  18. -changed from 11am to 7pm. Was supposed to be a school kids game but it sounds like the teachers don't want to chaperone as part of their protest actions. I've been told there are some two for one ticket deals floating around on facebook as a result.
  19. just got back from the game-pretty pathetic. What does Avtsin have to do to get in a game? Couldn't play any worse than some of the players tonight. Leblanc give aways really noticeable. Broadcast team goes on ad nauseum re Tenute being from Hamilton. Beaulieu getting too much ice time. Pateryn didn't look like he should have returned and played so much. Freddy's goal was very nice despite what the broadcast team mentioned as they were busy yapping again instead of following the play. First time seeing Murovich at home and wonder if we need another Smurf (jno way Tenute is 5'9"). I thought Quailer should have been the Dog player of the game but the broadcast crew was probably too busy yapping about other than what was happening on the ice to notice. The only hope against the Marlies tomorrow is that Hamilton (the player) got called up to the Leafs today.
  20. Joey Tenute was signed to an AHL contract today (was on a PTO previously)
  21. Kosari and Charon are AHL calibre weapons as far as officiating
  22. 9 rounds and my blood pressure went up by 9 points
  23. agree re Hagel and Stortini getting too much ice time but maybe it was out of necessity---short of healthy bodies, etc. They sure seem to ramp up the p.r. re Hagel and Tenute being Hamilton natives lately. In defense of Zach, he is being asked to do what exceeds his talent level.
  24. good article in thespec.com by Scott Radley about the situation
