For those who are interested in the practice lines, Bournival was in Prust's spot on the 4th line today. Bouillon was in Beaulieu's spot with Weaver while Tinordi and Beaulieu were splitting time with Murray. I think we're going to see a swap on the blueline tomorrow...
Why!!??!!
Every time I watch Beaulieu play I like what I see. I know hes not a defensive master shutdown guy but he competes hard skates well and moves the puck. He is going to have to play to get better. Its not like Bouillon is without flaws. All that said while MT is perhaps not the ideal coach he is growing on me and I definitely like him a helluva lot more than Jaque Martin.

I'd make that move before blinking. I can't see Edmonton making the deal.
I don't see Eberle as the type/style of player this team is looking for to complete the puzzle. If we're looking at players of that level I would be much more interested in a ROR type guy.
If it wasn't for Columbus' tumultuous relationship with Russians I'd say a first overall for second overall swap could happen.
I don't think CBJ would touch that deal with a 10 foot pole, I think they are very happy with the player they have while Yak still has the potential to turn into one of the biggest busts in recent memory.

After getting the win in game 3 while playing likely their worst game of the season I expect the team to come out with great energy and renewed confidence in game 4. I think that blowing the lead and coming back in OT could be a helpful lesson down this playoff road to show that even after a bad bounce this team can still win. I hope that it will go a long way to strengthen the mental toughness of the team and solidify the no quit attitude.
As for weather the team is out of gas or not I don't believe that for a second. The one thing I would be concerned about, particularly with Subban is that there may lingering injuries, and they can be as big a factor as anything in disrupting the mental aspects of the game.

A bad deal still better than a hole in a lineup if you can't fix it.
A bad deal can hurt you for years, no deal give you the option to make a good deal any day.
-
Yea, not sure I would offer anything more that 4 years at 6 per. If you're dropping 7+ mill a year on a guy defense and a consistent effort better not be question marks. With MB looking to build a character team I'm not sure Vanek is the guy we're looking for and with free agency the way it is he would surely get way more $$ and term. Better to make no deal than a bad deal.

NHL discipline is a totally random event.
It certainly would seem that way.

Well that was an ugly one but good teams do find a way to win when they're not playing their best.
New York has been good but their not that good to be making Montreal look this bad without Mtl being off their game. Hopefully this will take off some pressure and inject some confidence.Toker was insane tonight, not sure Price gets the net back when he's healthy.
-
That was a fun game to watch. I can't wait till game 7.
-
Really excited to see Beulieu play tonight, I've though he's looked good in all the games i've seen of his thus far.
All the games have been really close, all the boys have to is get to game 7 and anything can happen!
-
The boys should be feeling some shame after that one, lack of intensity, too many lost puck battles and sloppy passing. They're making life too easy for Rask.

About time Vanek!
I know this is delayed but..... CAREY CAREY CAREY -
Just think of all the haters that didn't like the Weaver pick up, he's been such a plus for this team.

Despite being down a goal I though Montreal has looked way better so far today.
We really need something out of the top line or we're going to have no chance. -
On the cross-check, I think the Habs are playing it exactly right. By never retaliating, we are putting all the onus on the refs, and I'm betting that if we keep that up, we will remove all the usual excuses not to make the calls against the Bruins. Basically we are shaming the refs into doing their damned job. That will work in our favour as the series progresses IF we can keep it up.
Tell that to Daniel Sedin.
But in all seriousness I do think that staying away from the stuff after the whistle is smart.

What has happened to Pacs and Vanek??
Especially Vanek? He looked the least excited of any player coming off the bench after the goal, wondering if that means anything?
-
PK with an A+ game.
So happy for Price to get the win! -
I will never question MT again.
-
Habs on heels, then score seemingly effortless goal
-
Vanek does not skate
True, but he does move his feet more than Kovalev ever did.
-
Should be an awesome game. No pressure on the Habs, one win in Boston would be sufficient success.
I know Therrien loves his veterans, Bouillion in particular but I sure would like to see Tinordi or Beaulieu on that bottom pairing instead. I'v really liked everything I've seen from Beaulieu this year.

Bruins likely to be getting Seidenberg and Paille back. Moen coming back for Montreal.
Seidenberg is good, hopefully it takes him a while to catch up to the pace.
4 months seems like a pretty quick recovery for ACL/MCL surgury.

Line 2: Bergeron is like Pleks but superior in pretty much every way, Marchand is very effective and has Cup experience (sort of what we hope Gallagher will be), Galcheyuk had a worse season than Smith. Not even close for the neutrals.
True, Riley Smith was the real return on the Seguin trade, not Ericksson.

The media wants to talk about french refs, and latvian goalies as reasons the Habs won. My rant on why its time to give the Habs credit for earning this win.

Excelent article!
You expressed my feelings exactly. Not one person from CBC or TSN is giving the Canadiens any credit for their sweep. All they do is bitch about the calls they thought should have gone the other way even when a retired Kerry Fraser ( who seems bias ) stands by and defends the calls. Notice how they never talk about or show video montage of the missed or soft calls that went in TB's favor. Not that I think the 2 controversial calls (we all know the ones I'm referring to) were even bad calls but hypothetically if they were, that still does not equate to Tampa being swept in 4! Even if the Habs dont get those calls, they could have easily come out on top in those games anyways.

As good as the Habs record has been against Boston recently I would still give them a better chance of beating the Wings, although I do believe they will eventually face Boston and if they do it should make for a really epic series.
The Habs embody the true meaning of a dark horse team. They are capable of winning a series against any team in the league but at the same time I wouldent be totally shocked to see them loose a series against any team in the league.
I think the time off is always beneficial to a team and the rust argument is just what loosing teams use when they get beat. Whoever we play in the 2nd round, I don't think we'll be sweeping them so it will be interesting to see this team come back after a loss. This is a very exciting time of year!
Does Vanek re-sign => Habs win the Cup?

But what about option C which is to wait until the right moment. There are inevitably always good deals that arise, just look at how we landed Vanek in the first place. The whole idea is to be able to take advantage of the opportunity when it presents its self, not be handcuffed by the CAP. I know you can't count on this but Vanek could go a long way in showing some character and desire to be a team guy by cutting the Habs some kind of deal on either term or dollar amount instead of milking them for all he can. On the other hand why should Mr. Molson get a deal?
Like you said he could be hurt, its so hard for us fans to properly analyse these situations because there is so much information we are not privy to.
