If MB could find an upgrade for the 3rd pairing that would help. It shouldn't be too tough to go find a #5 dman.
I think it was better with meet weber
And chairot petry
What a terrible game. What happened to this team? They looked so good to start the season
-
I got so mad after the first goal that I missed the goal by the Habs lol
-
Well this is pretty much a must win.
If they don't come to play tonight, the only thing I can think is that they're trying to send a message regarding how they feel about the coach.
Maybe I'm too optimistic but I think they stop the skid tonight against a team they shoud beat.

Don’t like the new lines. 3rd and 4th lines look more like a 4a, 4b..
Tatar Suzuki and Lekonnen looks like a line that could surprise with some offense. Especially if they're going against 3rd pairing D.

Aww man! Excited for the start of the season but still keeping my expectations in check.
Really looking forward to see how Kotkeniemi develops, if Domi can repeat last years production and to see how Suzuki does in the NHL.
-
Really scared of the deal MB might give Duchene. Big UFA signings are not typically his M.O
Who knows though I could be totally wrong. Should be an interesting day tomorrow

I honestly don't understand why this team is so desperate to trade pacioretty.
Soon to be 30 and wants too much term?
MB incapable of having positive relationships with large number of players?

Calling it now.. top three will be:
1. Buffalo ~ Dahlin
2. Carolina ~ Zadina
3. Montreal ~ Svechnikov
Just have a feeling Hurricanes go with Zadina.
Carolina did draft Martin Necas 12th overall last year. He was the one playing center on Zadina's line at the world juniors.

I can't wait till this season is over so everyone can finally move on and move forward.

I thought max looked OK last night. Good battle level and contributing more small details.
Chuck is looking better. Imagine he got the opportunities that max and Drouin get.

Thats what I call a high skill finish!

All 4 Habs in the corner. Thats bad penalty killing.
Yep! Just left the Canucks best goal scorer all alone in the slot.

Froese seems to take more than his share of offensive zone penalties

Who needs Markov? We have Karl Alzner the next 5 years
I would have preferred Emelin or Beaulieu lol

Ugly
At this point with all the cap space still unused, I think its safe to say that Bergevin's biggest mistake so far is not being able to resign Markov.
What the hell was he trying to save the money for?
Can't be a good manager if ego gets in the way. -

I'm happy the Habs aren't losing but coming off of getting spanked on Saturday, that was a terrible start. They got better as the period went on but I was hoping for more jump from them than they've shown so far.
Maybe it was just me, but after giving up that first goal, they looked like a team that wanted out.

Lucky Habs, no Hall for New Jersey.

Julien should not at all feel compelled to keep the lineup the same for next game.
I think we're finally going to see the Shlem.
Maybe Weber too if we're lucky. -
That was vintage Montreal Canadiens, Carey Price stealing the show.
Columbus has a real good team. Strong blueline. Having Jones as Werenski must be nice. I could see them doing some damage in the playoffs. -
Galchenyuk is snakebit!
-
Bad penalty by Drouin.
Very Habesque to allow the goal so close to the end of the period. -

That inconsistency is why petry is a second pair and not top pair guy. And yes he makes mistakes.
That said i think yesterday was one of his better games especially with no weber
Do you think he is a number 3 d-man on a team who has one of the top 10 groups of defense in the NHL?
I think he can be a second pairing guy, but there is a big difference between being a number 3 who can help out number 4 compared to being the number 4 who is well supported on the pairing.
Based on the lack of constancy and frequent soft play, I think he is more of a 4 than a 3. However, some nights he looks great and plays like he could be a 2. -

Petry was one of the better D against Dallas I thought.
That is a sign of what is wrong with this team.
Petry does have good nights but he is far too inconsistent, and his mistakes too bone headed for him to be considered a top 3 d man.
Hopefully Jerabek will look good in his debut. -
The last two minutes of the second period are basically the identity of this team.
They struggle so much to score I feel like it is already over.
