My personal philosophy is never to read the drivel written by Jack Todd, who is the english equivalent of Rejean Tremblay.
Avoid him and stick with Stubbs, and Hickey, and you'll be a lot better off.
I understand why they're siding with the cute chick who asked the question, being writers themselves, and they have the right too - it was a tough question for JM and after another loss, it would be hard to answer because yeah Darche on the PP is pretty stupid, especially in contrast to having a veteran top 6 player on the bench, logically it doesn't make sense, regardless if Cole is the answer for the PP or not. I do frequent HIO every once in awhile, 'cause I like to read up almost everything I can about the Habs.
Yet all in all, supporting the team is what I should be doing - even if I don't agree with JMs coaching.

There's no need to panic. Let's remain very calm.
You're right. +1. I don't like to see the team loose. Yet if they can pull some wins together in the next 15-20 games while Spaceman returns (and whats the expected time of Campoli healing up?) and Markov coming back. Then our D lines can alternate in and out and be fresh by not playing every game.
I still don't like Cole not being used as a top 6, and I find they're are too many line changes all the time. I like Darche, yet he's a 4th line player. With the recent moves it should solidify the 4th line and allow the top 9 players to start building some chemistry and get consistent ice time. This coming week is huge, and the next game is a must win against Florida. Boston seems to be slumping, so those two games will be passion filled and may bring out the best in our Habs. They win the next four games, then we'll quickly forget this brutal start of the season and be happy that our players and racking up wins and points soon enough.
The Habs got unlucky with Campoli and Spaceman going down. Campoli would have been huge in these last games. And yeah, Betts would have given us what Enqvist couldn't. Eller so far has shown that he's way more capable than Gomez, he has better hands, and rushes into the center of the ice whereas, even though he's been trying to do that, Gomez doesn't. These next few weeks will be a character builder for the Habs, or it will be the most epic depression of this generation.

Sweet! Won both games by one goal. Anton Krylov with 3 assists this preseason.

Yes, they can certainly contribute to that. Personally, I think the issues on this team are top-down, and not the other way, though.

I think this is a great move actually. The Habs have been playing with three lines for 7 games. Maybe it's time they use a FULL lineup. With that being said, I'm looking at management recently, and they've let so many useful players go. Metro, Moore, Laps, Grabs to name a few.
The Habs are in this position of relying on inexperienced D because of the moves they've made in the past 3-4 years. They almost won the cup, yet almost isn't good enough. They had the whole Koivu vs. Ribiero a few years back, and now have neither. They had the AK-Grabovski-SK line... which I loved, yet only gave them a few games because they didn't get a chance to show what they can do.
You have to adapt, you have to bend with the wind, you have to be like water as Bruce Lee said, and management hasn't done that, whenever you mold someone into a system - you inevitably remove the passion and spontaneity of which makes a good player. That is why we haven't had a young forward break out since 1995.
You can make the arguments that Plekanec broke out, and that was lucky, and playing with Kovalev helped him.
Max Pac and Subban are awesome, yet I don't think they make cases for break out artists on the Habs.
I'm done defending JM for sure, and I'll wait and see on Gautier. So far it's not looking good. Gio and Gomez are two years older than when they first got here. The league has changed, Montreal hasn't.
At least Toronto went with the rebuild, and now their lineup is pretty young. It's a stretch to say they'll go under like last year.........
The system sucks, and I'm officially a non supporter of "the system". They require flow, spontaneity, chemistry, creativity and adaptability, not stiffness and apathy. And blaming Diaz, Emelin and Weber is not fair.
How many players actually LOVED Montreal yet we let them walk or trade them?
Koivu
Kovalev
Ribiero
Mueller as Coach
Lapierre
(maybe Guy Boucher too!!!)
I like Cammi and Gio yet.... now it seems that letting those players go was a mistake. Koivu > Gomez. Ribs and Grabs two centers we lost. Okay fine, we have Pleks and Eller.
Oh well.. enough romanticizing the past with such lines as AK-Grabs-SK or Kovalev-Pleks-AK or Pacthes-Koivu-Kovalev.
With so many sideways moves in the last 5-6 years, I can see why the Habs are in this current predicament.
I hope they start winning soon. And prove this post wrong.
EDIT: And one more rant... remember Gainey saying he wanted winners on the team, then revamped and brought Gomez Gio and Cammi? Well they didn't win, and I had more love for Kovy and Koivu than I do the high priced Gomez and his companions.
I'm usually a very positive person by nature, yet I haven't seen many positive this year, except for the youth, who are only playing because of injuries.

LoL, remember last year? <center><iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_NW2CdsTNX4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></center>Got to love them Danish... such good pastries...- 1

This upcoming week will reveal pretty much everything about the Habs. To be fair, JM is under pressure. His interview last night showed that.
Bottom line is the Habs need to start winning. Period.
If they loose then I'm sure we'll see some changes. If they win 6/8 points in the next 4 games. They can power themselves back in the playoff race.
Time will tell. They have the skill.
And for the record. I love Eller.
-
Maybe this will allow the Habs to roll 4 lines finally. And adding a D in Hamilton is much needed. Good trade seeing how Trotter did clear waivers a few weeks back. Now the Hamilton youth will have to step up to score goals, instead of relying on Trotter for production.
-
Cole had 11 minutes of ice time.
That's brutal.
I honestly think JM doesn't like Cole, as he ripped on him during the post game interview.
Weber leads the team with +4, Moen and Eller are next at +3
-
OMG! I don't like Martin anymore. He just got asked the reason behind having Darche on the PP and Cole on the bench, and he laughed! Said he looked at Cole's PP stats last year, and then made up his mind.
Ugh, I don't like Martin AT ALL anymore.
And even JM is talking about the D being inexperienced. I've been watching each game so far, and the new D are fine, they've looked better that Georges and Gill! And last I check weber was +4.
JM has to go.
-
True. Eller did have a great game! He's the best player in the last two games I think.
I'm listening to team990 and they are on the coaching staff about how Cole was on the bench during a 5-3 while Darche was on the ice and how that is just unbelievably stupid. I wholeheartedly agree with that. And here they go again on Darche.
It'll be interesting to see where the Habs will be after 10 games.

I believe we are now last in the conference as Winnipeg and Ottawa both won tonight.
Well, this is a first... feels actually... kinda good. Maybe it'll be a wake up call.
I feel bad that they have to respond to the media now though...
-
Sigh... well, any positives?
-
I kinda feel bad for Darche... that hurts to watch.
-
I mean other then MaxPac who seems to be everywhere when he is on, I do not see much passion from the habs, Moen has been good, but we need more heart from our guys.
I think the team looks pissed off actually lol they're skating really hard and finishing checks
-
lol! totally...
-
-
Can anyone say Eller > Gomez?
-
Way to go Eller!
-
Sweet, now we can listen to Don Cherry spew his bile!
I'm keeping clear, watching RDS, even though Benoit Brunet is almost equally as lame.
-
Speaking of Cole, he just powered that puck to the net.
-
Ummm.. Gionta wasn't skaing and just waiting for a pass from Pleks - this is not the greatest period. There seems to be no chemistry between the players.
Darche over Cole. All respect to Darche who has achieved more than most would have expected, but Cole is a bonified scorer. I simply cannot agree with Darche instead of Cole unless there's some injury/other issue that we don't know about.
Indeed, that was an attempt at internet sarcasm. It's ridiculous how the players are being played. They're all in the wrong roles.
-
Too many men: Coaching error.
No goal 5v3. PP coaching error.
No way, like Darche was on for almost the whole PP. That has nothing to do with the coach!
-
And that says all we need to say about why we are losing.
True. lol
Are we seeing a trend or is this just a temporary problem?

There's 75 games left. That's 150 points available. It IS early. I've been reacting to the looses without seeing this fact.
