  1. 1-2-0-1 sim at home for Vancouver. :(

    5-3 loss vs COL

This was the outcome both times I simmed ahead so not a real shocker but still disappointing to lose at home against Colorado. Nobody really stood out as nobody registered more than a point and Ahonen stunk again.

The Dunlops win 4-2 on the farm.

    4-2 win vs BUF

Outshot the Sabres 40-15 yet only managed to eek out a win in a 1 goal game until Radek Smolenak secured the win with his 2nd @ 57:19 of the 3rd. Smolenak along with another newly acquired ex-blackhawk Michael Blunden both put up 3 points.

The Dunlops whipped the Amerks 6-1.

    5-4 OT loss vs OTT

Pretty tight game in which I managed to blow a 3-1 lead early in the 2nd period. Benoit Pouliot led the offense with a goal and two helpers.

The Dunlops continue to roll handing a 6-0 drubbing to the Monsters

    5-3 loss vs CGY

Another off night for Ahonen allows the Flames to gain their 1st win of the season. :puke: On the bright side Andrej Meszaros, Marian Gaborik & Ron Manson each had a goal and an assist.

Another win for the Dunlops as the knocked off the Knights 3-0.

  2. I know that some work has been done on the rules, BTH has informed me of this, I think he's working on it with Fanpuck.

it's just the wording of some rules and the details of some others (E.g. I know that BTH has discussed with Fanpuck about the "3rd offense" of the cap rule. )

Yup, I submitted him a draft of the rules last night. Made a few minor cosmetic changes, the two biggies were:

    E. The player being suspended needs to be reported exclusively by the GM of the injured player before the next sim in order for the suspension to have full effect.

    F. If the GM of the injured player reports it late, or if another GM decides to report it following the first sim after the injury, the suspension will be reduced by 50% (rounding up). The suspension will be voided altogether if it's not reported after two sims.

    G. Once a suspension is brought to the league's attention, it cannot be nixed, unless there has been a mistake.

Basically, I removed the silly mis-print about the offending GM being able to call for no suspension. It was my understanding that we agreed that once a suspension is brought to the league's attention, a GM shouldn't be allowed to say he doesn't want it to happen.

--> First offense: 1 million dollar fine

--> Second offense: 2 million dollar fine

--> Third (and each subsequent) offense: 3 million dollar fine and the criminal GM will see his personal cap decreased by 2 million

Cleared this up so that the rule is clearly a three strikes and you're out type of thing.

If I goofed up on either of those, let me know.

    1. Fanny pretty much covered my concerns from last season on necessary rule "edits". The big one being the clarifying of the suspension situation.

    2. The cap floor is something that is necessary as well but will need to be tweaked of course to prevent signing a $3M AHLer to get above the floor is silliness.

    3. A GM on the NHL team is 100% unnecessary.

    4. Making teams release a coach is also silly to me. BUT if teams can only "protect" one coach that would also open up lots of movement between teams and creating a little realism ie: Who would have predicted Jacques Martin in Montreal 5 years ago?

    5. I think Colin is drunk again and please ignore his posts in this discussion. :P

  3. Yeah, I knew you had something insightful to say David B.

If I have nothing valuable to add to this discussion, I felt it better to not add to this discussion. :P

Is there something specific you want my opinion on? I would be more than happy to give it if you please.

    :)

  4. 1-2 sim to start out the season for the Canucks on the road vs. Eastern foes.

    4-3 win @ NJ

2 goals in the third to erase a one goal deficit vs the lowly Devils. Marian Gaborik & Andrej Meszaros led the way with 2 points each. Michael Blunden notched his first in Vancouver on the PP to get the win.

On the farm the Dunlops despite outshooting the Monarchs fell 3-2.

    5-1 loss @ FLA

2nd of a back-to-back and the fellas stunk the joint out. Got outshot by 10 shots. Ryan Malone with his first of the season scored the lone goal. Jason Nigh beat the pulp out of Cal Butter for fun.

5-4 win over the Jawzzzzzz on in AHL action.

    3-1 loss @ CAR

Probably our best game of the sim but fell short vs a powerful Carolina team. Ryan Malone fired home his 2nd goal in as many nights. 3 fights in this one: Jason Nigh lost to Bryan Allen & fought Allen to a draw on a 2nd tilt. In the 3rd fight Ron Manson did tickle Elmo Krueger he just pounded him instead.

8-0 win over the Steelhounds for the Dunlops.

Looking forward to 4 home dates next sim with games coming against: Colorado, Bufallo, Ottawa & Calgary

  5. Yeah. The situation just presented itself and I decided I wanted to go all-in this season.

I think you're going to LOVE this trade Eric, Rachunek will flourish once more upon joining the Habs.

  6. Player of the week: Alexander Perezhogin (L)

NHL has awarded Alexander Perezhogin (L) of Dallas Stars as Player Of The Week He registered 3 goals and 3 assists for 6 points in 4 games last week. He also had 1 game winning goal. However, due to mismanaged funds by team ownership the Stars are over the cap and league policy states that the most recent PoW from your team must be released to get below the league imposed salary cap.

A native of Russia, Alexander Perezhogin was originally drafted to the NHL by the Montréal Canadiens in the 1st round of the 2001 entry draft. He has appeared in 598 NHL games during his career, notching 208 goals and adding 287 assists along with 426 penalty minutes. The 29 year old left wing has played 4 games with the Dallas Stars this season, totalling 3+3=6 with 6 PIM.

    :o

  7. Thank you VERY much for your contribution to our league administration Seb. I've been in many league's and the successful one's are those with the strong leaders, something that our league has been fortunate enough to have from the start which in my opinion is the reason our league continue's to be the best out there.

Looking forward to kicking your a$$ again this season.

    Bonne Chance!
