I'm not going to get into a big mess here about this ap but, why would he still be with the Habs or in the NHL for that matter if he was not a valuable piece of the team. If the things you suggest where true why would Gainey not buy out his contract when he had the chance? Don't say because he's buddies with Saku because that doesn't hold much water in a business world like the NHL.
Did he wear an 'A' on his jersey the last couple seasons because he's Saku's buddy? Call him what you will or think of him what you will but again in my opinion he's one of the most valuable assets on the team. He's not flashy or anything but during the last season from Christmas on and through the playoff he teamed with Markov were not only our best pairing but one of the better one's in the league. The guy has to be doing something right to compliment a guy with Markov's skill.
Again, not looking for a 'Royal Rumble' here but I have a hard time seeing your reasoning as to Rivet's worth.

Ya, I am usually at the festival. I'll be glad to help you out at the start and there are many others who will do the same. All of the guys in the league are great and once you get used to listening to alex brag about his ability as GM and his team he's ok too.

Maybe it's just me but Rivet is the kind of guy I would take on my team in a heartbeat. Great team guy, very strong in bigger games (see first round 2004 vs Boston.), always jumps into help a teammate in need whether it be on the ice or with the media, very good tutor to the young guys. In my world he's just as if not more valuable to a team than Souray. For different reasons than Souray obviously, but Souray has played one great half season and hasn't won my heart yet.

I personally would love to have Witt, especially if Hainsey, Bouillon or Striet aren't up to the task. He would be an excellent asset in our end of the rink. Also, having him could clear the path for Gainey to make a move involving Hainsey if anyone wants him that is. IMO his time in Montreal strongly depends on his performance at the training camp. I think they might be getting frustrated with this kid and expect him to be moved if he doesn't knock managements socks off. Leaving Markov, Souray, Rivet, Komisarek, Dandenault and possibly a guy like Witt with Frankie B being the 7th man with Streit in Hamilton to take on a full North American schedule before he might make the jump to the bigs.

It's a great simulated NHL. It is a lot of fun and lots of good guys running the league and cool members too. There are lots of guys who will help you as needed, as a relative newbie I had no problem getting going with their help. Just ignore alexstream, he's a knob!

This move gives me a better toughguy than Chris Neil and with a better longterm contract. He is also a defensive improvement. Neil also got beat up too much, hard to get the fans into it when you are on your back.

Ottawa GM David B is sad to see the departure of Anton Volchenkov. He will be missed. However, with the re-aquisition of Karel Rachunek we help our struggling offense and get an overall better player. We are deep with defensive defensemen and needed to add some offense from the point. Also, with Jurcina we are continuing to build for the future by trying to create a defensive corps for the future similar to the one that we have now. Ottawa accpets and confirms.

The addition of Mike Johnson now gives Ottawa the 3rd line RW that we so desparately coveted for the playoffs. His contract is also pleasing to the eye considering the potential cap trouble we may have next year. In Slovak we continue to upgrade our AHL defense in the short term with a player who could develep into an NHL regular.
