  1. Can't remember where I got it from - oh yes I do. Beverly Hills Cop. Riggs's boss. It's his mantra, and Mel Gibson's character adopts it when the boss asks Mel if he knows what the 'no smoking' sign means.

    "Yeah," says Mel, "but I don't give a ######."

    :?-

Do you mean Eddie Murphy or were you talking about Lethal Weapon? :)

Somebody still dipping into the eggnog today?

  2. who accused you of cheating? that's who should go not you.

    +1

Never been approached by a GM who thought you were cheating or that your team was at best a 6th seed. Like you said, it looks more like the accuser is blowing air out of his ass...

someone who thought they should have been ranked higher than they were and used jets as their excuse rather than looking themselves in the mirror is most likely imo

  3. Until some real reward is given, the AHL playoffs are just a big waste of time and bandwidth.

    @ KoZ

Let's remember it's the AHL playoffs and it's the holiday season and some people have lives that go on despite the AHL playoffs.

  4. This team should've gone all the way and I see no reason why it couldn't. I turned over a huge chunk of the roster and still got the same result. I'm just not good enough.

If you got back to running Ottawa (and you should), you'd have the Cup no problem.

I felt the same my last couple of seasons in Ottawa, after going to the final two years in a row I thought my best teams were in the next couple of seasons following. I think I won 1 playoff series in the next 3 seasons (and it was against the revvv) and was knocked out by Maca in two of them and Colin :puke: in the other.

I got frustrated and wanted to try something new and put a stamp on it, that is even more frustrating than sticking it out with your powerhouse imo, looking back I would have never left Ottawa but I am pretty happy with where I've taken Vancouver to and hope to take them moving forward.

Make some changes in the off-season to improve on what hurt you in the playoffs and take another run at it next year. You've done a great job with the Senators and I don't want them to fall into someone's hands that decides to completely rebuild it and trade every roster player away for below fair market value.

    See you in 2010 :)

  5. Player of the week: Patrice Bergeron ©

NHL has awarded Patrice Bergeron © of Anaheim Ducks as Player Of The Week He registered 3 goals and 2 assists for 5 points in 2 games last week.

A native of Canada, Patrice Bergeron was originally drafted to the NHL by the Boston Bruins in the 2nd round of the 2003 entry draft. He has appeared in 795 NHL games during his career, notching 263 goals and adding 408 assists along with 321 penalty minutes. The 27 year old centre has played 82 games with the Anaheim Ducks this season, totalling 25+33=58 with 32 PIM.

hmmm, two weeks in a row & two Ducks as POW :puke:

NHL nominates players for NHL Awards

    James Norris Memorial Trophy

    1. Joni Pitkänen, Vancouver Canucks

    2. Kevin Quick, Carolina Hurricanes

    3. Niklas Kronwall, Anaheim Ducks

Annual award given to the defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position

 @ Pitkanen's first Norris nomination

  6. Two first round failures so I think thats it for me. I'll sleep on it over Christmas but I'm probably done.

    Congrats Maca.

    nah, don't be silly

it's just Maca's continued domination over Ottawa ....... I feel your pain, it's worse than losing against Alex & I know both all too well.

Merry Christmas, see ya in January.

  7. 2 game 7's coming up,

Will Ottawa avenge their loss to the Rangers last year & will the Rangers GM's history of beating Ottawa regularly in the playoffs since the 2nd season continue?

Will Tampa knock off Carolina, run through to a championship & become a 'Ning Dynasty?

I have to go with Ottawa & Carolina though because of the "home" ice.

  8. In actuality the situation was somewhere in between what each of us believed. So I guess that same sentiment holds true for yourself. I'm thinking of something... pot... kettle... black... what is that again?

My point remains, I believe that we need to stop giving guys teams for 3rd, 4th, 5th times. By all means I hope that Tex proves me wrong, but I think that history has showed us that in a majority of cases, this type of a decision has not worked out well.

There have certainly been exceptions, but it is generally guys who left ONCE and then came back a 2nd time and stayed (Kozed and Maca are the ones that come to mind). As I said there are even exceptions with guys who have come and gone multiple times (Colin and David B I think). However the number of other GMs who haven't worked out this way, far outweigh the few that have.

i have never left ..... just moved from Ottawa to St Louis, St Louis to Washington for a day then after I gave the Caps back to Tex I moved into Vancouver :)
