  1. sorry I missed this one - still not right! no - morons?
  2. This is a tough week - at most I think one win realistically? But who knows..... anything is possible
  3. L - odds are for a loss after a mini win streak?
  4. no no send me a PM with your answer to see if you are right?
  5. So no one has the answer to the who the very first opponent was that Montreal ever played against? You'll need to think outside the box on this one - they no longer exist. They only played one season of pro hockey. I'll give you 24 more hours before I answer this one - maybe if no one can guess it we'll ask shortcat1 as he was probably there that night...
  6. I think you missed the sarcasm of this one?
  7. Sorry no - I'm referring to who it's very first game ever was against(not this year!)
  8. Did he look like this after you had finished dressing him up?
  9. I hope they don't risk him and try to rush him if things get worse playoff wise?
  10. Who did Montreal play its' first game against? :hlogo: p.s. Shortcat1 is disqualified from this one as he may have been there for that one
  11. thanks - that move did seem odd though, especially with the coincidental timing of the goaltending woes the Habs have experienced since then. Time will tell if the investment has any kind of return? Personally it just looks like depth for the future...
  12. The Habs had 3 potential UFA defenceman this summer - no way are they going to sign all 3 under a cap system. Somebody had to be moved for something in return. The Sharks said they had targeted him all along - specifically because of the side he played. They wanted a right handed defenceman.... Rivet struggled this year and has the least upside of the 3 - yeah he had heart, but it takes a lot more than that. Gainey then managed to get a good young prospect, as well as a 1st round pick for an ageing middle of the road talent who is a free agent at the end of the season? That is more than fair return given the piece of realty being listed on the market. At worst this is a wash, but that is unlikely. The Habs now have something like 5 picks in the top 75-80 next year. 2 first rounds makes a deal at the draft a strong possibility. As for a goalie to finish the season - hindsight is always 20-20. Gainey may have explored the prospects of obtaining a goalie. Who knows what went on there for sure? Maybe the price was too high for the need? Maybe they were willing to gut it out with the current tandem. Given the possibility of Huet returning early (and the fact he was already said to be back by playoff time) maybe management did not want the predicament of 3 goalies in town come playoff time? You can imagine the scenario if Gainey lands a Joseph or a Belfour, and then has to say to him that he isn't going to play once the playoffs arrive..... maybe these goalies looked at this possibility and refused to go to Montreal? These were players of enough seniority that managers would respect there wishes. Both apparently were interested in moves, but also were not entirely opposed to staying put. Neither was probably enthralled about the possibility of sitting once the 'real season' began. As for Biron, well there is no solid rumour out there that says he was even shopped to Montreal - that deal went down in a hurry. I really doubt that Buffalo had any inclination to send him to any potential opponent in the playoffs! Why would Buffalo have considered shipping him to Montreal - please tell me that? People need to realize that these transactions are driven by several realities, one of which is definitely the laws of supply and demand. This is not simply about fans ranting about should have, would have, could have..... The Leighton deal definitely puzzles me, but it is not a joke. That was cheap insurance for a short term situation. There was no cost and this deal is about nothing more than depth in goal. Danis was injured at the time as well, so they made a cheap just in case type of move - no cost to the system. He can possibly enter the farm system at some point, and if necessary they can then move someone out that they have no further interest in at some point? Not a solution to the situation, and it was never suggested as such, but it was a decent move nonetheless.
  13. Sounds like somebody here has anger issues - they really need to learn to talk nice when debating with others on this forum
  14. thanks - my meds must be working I have to admit that trying to follow from afar is tough, but thanks for confirming what I thought was the sequence of events so far in this fiasco. Samsonov has been his own worst enemy all year long.
  15. For the right price keep him - need vets as well as youngsters = depth.
  16. 'Samsonovgate' is now Carbonneau's fault? Maybe I've missed something living this far away? By all means - please correct me if I'm wrong! Living in the heartland of Leaf Nation it's awfully hard to follow all of the events going on in Montreal, so we miss some things that go on, but can someone please tell me who fired the first shot in this fiasco? If memory serves me right though(I'm getting old remember) Samsonov was playing horribly pretty much since the start of this season. He never found his stride or his touch. Management was extremely patient with him before finally delegating to the 4th line in a practise? He reacted poorly, as did his agent over that and the first volley was fired through the media - by him, not the coach? Since that moment it has gone from bad to worse, with a few blips along the way? Has Carbonneau made mistakes - yes. He's a rookie head coach in the highest pressure cooker in pro hockey. One has to expect him to grow with the learning curve - happens to all new coach's. And mistakes are a part of that curve. But as for Samsonov's inept play this year - Samsonov himself has been nothing but responsible for that travesty. From day one he has not delivered the goods he was signed to produce.
  17. nil, zilch, nada etc, etc... but I'd love nothing better than being wrong!!!!!!!!! :hlogo:
  18. Looked in the dictionary for the word 'flabbergasted..... found these? WOW!!!!!! As an old timer - that' kind of a comparison is pure sacrilege..... (Kind of have to concur with Fanpuck33 on this one)
  19. He's more play maker than goal scorer - makes things happen and has good setup man written all over him. 50 goals is doubtful - possible but unlikely? That aside, your logic is open to a certain degree of question in the sense that few players in the CHL topped 50 this season? Only 3 players had more than 50 in the OHL, 5 in the Q and none in the WHL reached the 50 mark(in fact only 3 had 40 or more...) as far as I could determine from league stats? I still agree on Kostitsyn though regardless of that fact.....
  20. I assume you are referring to the senior Kostitsyn? Just wanted to clarify that....
  21. I'm not sure if there are many potential candidates in the system right now that are capable of this feat? Possibly Kostitsyn 'part 2'..... he has displayed the raw tools for it but he is still a long shot at this point. :hlogo: p.s. referring to Sergei
  22. Glad 'the Bay' won - congratulations guys. Wish it was the Canadien's that were playing that game....
  23. I hope they wind up and throw the book at him..... cheap shot and it needs to be dealt with! :puke:
