  1. At least they brought it home to give fans another gate and a chance to experience hockey 3 times after the season. I am satisfied with that. I have no idea how we win game 6 unless the ghosts decide to cut us some home ice advantage in the playoffs. Our recent history at the Bell wreaks.

The Washington organisation wants blood for playing such a pathetic game. We all know that's where their stomach is right now. Habs have a chance but only if they seize on the opportunity and finally do more dictation. "Ride the feeling...the emotion" as Dryden described it during the closing of the Forum.

I miss the Forum. Please Habs - find HOME!

  2. I really feel the Habs are falling into the Leaf mold from 2003-06 of trying to rebuild on the fly without really rebuilding where the playoffs become the goal and not a dominant annual contender.
Good news is, the party is over. There is no way Gauthier can just ride this. The Tanguay acquisition and less so getting Lang has left a void short term in picks. Habs have to cash in now IMO, to pay for the gambles! Fan pressure and anger puts this into a potentially bizarre summer. Goodbye Mr Goalie who?
  3. Hammer is a victim of our patchwork defence.
Bam! Gainey warned us the prospect pool in D was thin and we were entering a period of low returns. PK is an exception and a very nice one. But Hammer was a depth reliable D brought in after Souray left. Spacek, Hamrlik, Gorges, Markov, Gill and O'Byrne all go UFA on July 1st 2011. It seems obvious that Gauthier is going to make some decisions this summer on the state of the D. Hamrlik is the most obvious choice to get rid of. But who in their right mind would take back the 5.5 million. He could be a rental one year from now.

Something has got to give. Our not too distant future has us with Markov, Gorges, O'Byrne and Subban as a nucleus IMO!

I can't see Gauthier going with our current D next year.

    "Folding the patchwork bandaged tent"

  4. Here we are. Obvious statement: win the next one. Treat the fans to at least a game 6 at home.

I don't like this "tent folding" crap. Game 2 4-1 drivers seat and now tonight. I guess the team can live with the moniker "tent folding" It would seem that's were we are going.

    Goofy goof goofs

  5. Poor San Jose. Maybe Joe touching the cup at a young age is all the jinx it takes (that's true BTW) What was his dad thinking? Isn't that child abuse?

The only way one should touch the cup is if they don't wish to win it if they haven't yet - Hockey Gods don't like it! Or if you have already won it - the Gods don't mind that at all. It's like meeting the best model in the universe and before you meet her you purposely cut your face up multiple times with a cheese grater

  6. I dunno man. Pouliot has been guilty of trying the perimeter for sure, but certainly not all the time. He does, on occasion, go to the slot and bang bodies around and fight for the puck. Are you telling me that Sergei would go to the net more than Benny?

I liked our 3rd line when it was Moen - Moore- Sergei. Bring MAB up to the 4th in lieu of Darche or Lapierre, and put OB back on D.

That works too. I bought into MAB being on D and he has done better than I thought he'd do on D. But we need more and O'Byrne might be an idea for sure. I suspect that Martin is worried about his immobility, decisions and penalties. But, at the end of the day - he makes forwards pay and can be agressive.

Martin may not like it but - LIVE BY THE SWORD - DIE BY THE SWORD! Mara isn't available to get rid of these big Caps net crashers! Hello? Jacques?

  7. Maybe I'm just an eternal optimist...but the caps played a single good period tonight, that's all...it's easy to think they've woken up, but it was the caps plumbers that won the game for them tonight, I still have hope.
There's some sort of positive. Back in 2002 the Bruins blew us away in some of the games. I expected that from Washington. It was mostly predicted that they'd win. Being down 2-1 shouldn't be shocking. Too bad it is but I'm still stinging right now. The only way it's proven positive is if Montreal can grow a new pair and get back to stalwart 2 way play and win a MUST game. And I wonder what Sergei could produce with Gionta and Gomez? At this rate I'd like to see Pouliot out instead of Sergei. But what do I know?
  8. I'm just saying that Washington has turned a corner but since the change in momentum we have also failed to play forget the puck. They did it wonderfully in game 1. It's the biggest bummer looking toward game 4 that Washington is getting higher and we are regressing.

  9. I'm calm now. Game is over. In brooding phase right now :( It's not easy to critique the Habs in melancholy.

I could go on about it but I'll instead mention the solution. One that has evaded them during the Washington takeover - "Forget the puck"! The only way to play Washington and win is to forget the puck. Play well without the puck! As a unit! Now of course I also mean that the Habs should play the puck. And Habs, please work on possessing the puck instead of sending errant passes through the slot that amount to nothing? More hits and 2 on 1's down low in the Caps' end! SPEED! More hits! Sometimes forgeting the puck and thinking more about positional play and being better aware of your offensive passing options will lead to better results! It has a double meaning but it is the best one liner I can think of to describe what needs to be done.

    "Possess the puck"!

    "Forget the puck"!

    :(
