But if y'all want to complain about Weber being boring and slow and whatever unfounded dumbass complaint you want to make, you're not watching the same games I am. The guy is amazing. I just unrealistically wish we'd managed to get a guy like Weber and keep PK. Because I love Subban, too.
I don't know what game you're watching, but Weber is nothing if not boring and steady if that floats your boat that's fine.
As an aside it's so interesting how this trade has divided this fanbase so much, it's so funny haha.

Looks pretty slow and boring here. And fire wagon hockey doesn't work these days so I guess you'll just have to be disappointed.
And I'm not sure why we're talking about Subban in a Weber appreciation thread. He is a beast out there and clearly fans are loving it
He really brought me out of my seat with that 5 foot pass to Gally..oh boy can't contain my excitement.

If 4 points in 4 games, a +6 and plays by far the most minutes on a team undefeated in regulation with the best goal differential is boring and slow, I'll bring my pillow and blanket to the snooze fest and enjoy every minute of it
Him scoring doesn't change the fact he looks slow, and is boring.
Sports it's supposed to be entertaining and winning isn't enough for me. I wish for the firewagon style of hockey we had under Carb.

He's boring and slow, not what I want in a #1 d-man.

I was in Montreal for a game recently, spoke with lots of locals and also the crowd seemed pretty happy with the deal as well, yes
I find it funny that you're doing what you yelled at habs fans for haha.

Good strong games by Markov, Petry, and Radulov. Nice to see the fourth line doing quality work as well. The rest of the team ranged from decent to meh .
Markov looked slow and old and out of position most of the night though...

I wish Max ever looked interested.

Of course...the golden boy DD.

Cant get the puck out of our own end. Defence is just weak in transition.
We should trade for a puck moving D

I dunno, we got rid of our most exiting player in return for a more boring guy who isn't any better overall - that sounds super exciting to me.
Galchenyuk has been brutal. He'd better pick it up or DD will be back in his spot before we know it
DD was already on the PP

It's hard to be excited about this team.

I'm watching and thinking 'would any habs player do anything exciting?". and I'm thinking maybe Gally. This is just a boring team.
-
This game has been so boring.

That question is exactly what is wrong with the media. I'm glad Pacioretty didn't elaborate anymore on that dumb question.
I don't think it's dumb, it's a great question. Last year showed that when the habs needed leadership the most, Max wasn't there, and somehow PK got the focus for lack of leadership. Max may end up being the worst captain in canadiens history.
-
This might not be directly to do with the habs, but I recently got rid of my cable because I never used it, I was wondering if anyone has ever gotten any online viewing packages and what their experiences are with it.
For example, can I get all the habs games, or will there be blackouts of certain games.

Yeah, let's forget the fact that nashville had a decent coach and we had le idiot. Let's also discount the fact that nashville had elite NHL goaltending while we had a rookie who at best is a viable backup, but most likely a career AHLer and Ben friggin scrivens.
Let's also ignore the facts and stats that show Subban to be better defensively than Weber and that Weber was a no show for game 7 of the playoffs, or that despite being in the league for a shorter duration, subban has had more playoff success than Weber. Oh, let's also ignore that Subban has scored clmore critical winning goals in the playoffs than weber.
Lastly let's ignore that weber's defensive partner is a Norris candidate who is better than Weber.
But aside from that great analysis!!
I was just about to write all this. I can take analysis of the Weber/Subban trade and their performance, but what HF1989 said is what I've seen so commonly as a response when people show the metrics that prove Subban is actually good defensively. They can't equate that players with the punk more make more mistakes.
Thanks for always saving me the trouble of typing so much Hab29, between you and CC, I rarely have to type.

and stop with the assumption that Subban is far superior to Weber. It's simply not true. With all the whining about it, some STFU would be nice, the deal is done.
Except all the metrics numbers proving Subban is better...

This free agent class is meh.
Interesting that Lucic had lots of talks with Montreal and seriously considered signing here
Glad he didnt, cannot stand the guy.

The thing that confuses me is that most are saying Nashville won the trade but yet nobody defended the selection of Weber over PK for team Canada. And similarly, people that chirp about how bad Subban is are the same ones that are laughing at the Habs for making the trade. Talk about a polarizing figure in PK Subban. Someone on this board said it best: He is weirdly overrated and underrated at the same time.
That being said, I will never change my loyalty to the CH, no player or manager is bigger than the team. They all come and go but the team will remain
You don't need offense from the D-men when you have a stacked team like Canada has, Montreal is the farthest thing from stacked offensively so that's why what Subban brought was so needed.
-
I am not surprised neither, after PK didn't come back from his neck injury I felt he wouldn't come back. Weber's contract and hockey stats are arguably comparable. PK is a special person, but hockey wise I think the CH will be OK in the short term.
I have not seen much posted (may have missed it) on what this trade and the Eller trade mean for the expansion draft. I think that is where it makes some business sense. It seems like MB is building a new core to protect and looking to improve that core.
My only hope is that we now get that top-6 right-winger we all covet. Only then will the PK trade be more digestible: if we end-up with a cup contender team. Anything less than that is failure to me.
We could had had PK AND a new top 6 winger, the PK/Weber trade doesn't affect the ability to get a top 6 winger so I can't see why people keep bringing this up. To make a bad trade to hope to get a better trade later on but using no resources from the first trade, unless we're trading Weber away.
-
So after thinking on this more, I realized something. Weber doesn't have a NTC/NMC. For everyone worrying about the cap hit for 9 more years, if Weber doesn't work out, don't protect him for the expansion draft. Without a NMC/NTC there's nothing forcing us to protect him. We have a 1 year test period to see if he really has declined, if he has, he will be picked up in the expansion draft.
Seeing more upside to this now.
I hope this is hyperbole...I really do
-
I am strongly considering this as well, it wont be Nashville though. Las Vegas could be interesting.
-
That's great, trade a player entering his peak years for a declining asset who you hope to God you can unload in 4 years. Wow, awesome management.
Thanks CC saves me the trouble of typing this out.

Yeah, I wish I didn't dislike Weber because of the trade, it's not his fault, I'm just irrational haha, can't help it. So I'll likely never give him the benefit of the doubt.
