I 'd love it !!

What do you mean when you say that he has nothing to show for it? That he hasn't won a Cup yet? That's expecting too much.
People are making too much of his Five Year PLAN (not a Five Year Guarantee!). Every GM that gets hired has a plan, often a 5 year plan when they're starting a rebuild, and most of them never win the Cup.
The best way to measure his success is just to compare the team and our position to what it was 5 years ago. And it's faaaar better. Remember, we did win the East two seasons ago. This off-season has the potential to be horrific though so we actually could return to that perennial 7-12th position if things don't go well.
EDIT: Oh, and I really, really doubt he lost Beauchemin because he didn't understand the rules.
Doubt all you want he's the one who said it.
as for the five year plan. It's not much about fans keeping talking about but management taking it out everytime Habs weren't doing good. " be patient" they said. " its a 5 year plan"
well...6 years and 5 seasons later we weren't quite competitive weren't we ?? and we're on the brink of losing many key components as we did with souray and streit.
what I was saying about bob having not much to show up for is who do we have as a legit star up front that we drafted??
MaxPAx: could be good but it'll take a few more years IMO.
no centre but Maxwell who isn't there yet and chipchura who'll be a 4th liner at best.
as for the we-finished-1st last year...
Ottawa choked, Pittsburgh gave up their last game to finish 2nd
nowadays Gms have to be proactive while Bob is conservative or not proactive enough.

Sounds like a fun trip to me Nic!
I was already thinking about a scotland trip, 26th is a special day
the big 3-0 !!!
-
lockout = fulltime
err kinda forget about that
he did play 8 full games in germany
-
as always i will rise to Bobs defence, What the hell did we have 5 years ago that you are so proud of. We had nothing and no hope of anything, give your head a shake.
What has he done in the last 5 years to get all the praises ??
we're on the verge of losing our captain and his assistants with nothing but pacioretty to show up for. so he can shove his 5 year plan...I dont think it'll take Burke five years to bring TO back on track.
I know you like bob to a point of ordering people who dont share your opinion to shut up(heck, just like religion, politics...)
but I believe your man crush for Gainey relies more on his reputation(as a player) than actual facts( as a gm of course)
oh yeah he won a cup..10 years ago !!
whats frustrating me about gainey is his lack of action and creativity.
failed to attract UFAs
refusal to trade key players at trade deadline for picks or prospects
seems to be the one that got screwed on every trade he made not involving kovy and rivet
Lost beauchemin due to lack of knowledge of the rules
his team haven't pass the second round.
the only reason we made the playoffs this year is we got more wins against florida. 5 year plan = being equal to Florida ???

Kolzig tutored Price in Tri City.
I think people are making too much of the kolzig/price relashionship.
he was playing in the NHL at the time price was in junior so it's not like he was with him everyday.
that being said, maybe Kolzig could be a great goalie coach...if he retires.
-
Good move for the Leafs. I guess he'll finally coach Rask into being a great NHL goaltender.
Oh wait.... the Leafs gutted themselves and helped the Bruins while doing so.
I guess he'll finally coach Pogge into being a great AHL goaltender.
they are said to be very aggressive on a swedish goaltender...just hope he,s the swedish/goalie version of lahti !!
-
Can't argue with his credentials with butterfly goalies, but we all know Price isn't and can't be a butterfly goalie though. Would Allaire have been the worst option out there, of course not, but I'm confident there is an option out there better suited to fit the Habs' needs currently.
I'm sure someone else will do a good job but IMO allaire is the best. anyone that can teach Price how to use his glove will do, I guess.
-
Is he the best one to suit Price's needs though?
I think his credentials are good.
-
I would certainly hope that the head coach gets to hire the goalie coach, not the GM. If Martin's picking the rest of his staff, it's certainly not a reach to suggest that he gets to choose the goalie coach...
well he's the one who fired(sorta) Melancon, not the coach. since he's so high on Price I just would've thought that he'd be aggressive about his goalie coach, especialy when he's the best one.

TBQH theres not a chance in hell that Heatley is dealt in the division anyway so I don't think you have to do too much worrying Koz.
I'd put my bets on Edmonton or Los Angeles, especially if LA is shopping JJ.
LA has alot of quality Dmen which Ottawa doesn't. does LA wants his huge contract and his prima dona attitude???
-
So when do you think Bob Gainey will resign from GM? prior or after the Draft? Its sad but I think thats what the man is planning!
I think he would do everybody a great favor by quiting. he got 5-6 years to put his team back on track and so far he has nothing to show up for except for a number of prospects that may play in montreal one day.
-
Hey BOB !!
Get up ! you're asleep at the wheel, get up you're asleep at the wheel....
-
I dont think its a good at all. I don't know much about Tippet but I sure am not a crawford fan.
-
Draft Lukas Flueler!!
:hlogo:
VOTE QUIMBY !!
-
My two cents: heatley will play with kopitar next season.
-
a game 7 !! does it get any better than this ??!!
-
That's completely up to Heater. He'll decide and no one else. Even Murray needs permission from him. So, in answer to the question I'm going to go with nope.
when you ask to be traded you basicly(sp?) give away your NTC or NMC. however with a 7.5M cap hit theres not that many teams that can afford him.
Montreal seems to have enough space but do we have the means to make the trade.
If I were bob I woud try to sell Emelin to ottawa

Patera actually had a pretty good first year on a good Michigan team. He is big stay at home D man, better skater then O'Byrne in college. Similar to Komi's forst year in college.I think Chris is talking about Greg Pateryn, the prospect we got from Toronto in the Grabovski trade (along with the 2nd rounder which we flipped for Lang).
or maybe he thinks Pantera could play for montreal soon....they would bring the intimidation factor with them !!
-
4 mil for Yemelin? He's never even played in NA, no way would BG even think about offering him anything close to that. It would have probably been an entry level deal.
I was talking about Komisarek.
-
good for him to chose family over career. well its not only all about that. I,m sure he'll be back running his junior team.
-
Maybe it opens up spots for the likes of Subban, Carle, lesser extent Fisher.
I hope BG can pull something off to land a good Dman.
if there was a way to re-sign Schneider too a lesser salary so he could groom kids like weber, subban, carle and fischer that would be neat.
actually I dont know what are the plans for fischer and mcdonagh for that matter. I'm sure one of the two could sign and go to hamilton while the other waits another year.
-
Can you blame him? Anyways, getting Komi now is more of a priority than ever.
not if the price is over 4M..it's too much for this type of player.
-
fine !! he doesn't want to play here, trade his rights and try to get whatever....stupid stupid man.
he had his spot beside markov...well maybe hamrlik.
